Pokémon Silver GBS by Elven Spellmaker at 7:40 PM EST on December 6, 2008
Hi,

Does anyone know if this soundtrack has been ripped to GBS at all, because I can't find it anywhere,

Many Thanks,

Isn't Crystal good enough?
by Elven Spellmaker at 8:56 PM EST on December 6, 2008
I couldn't find any of them, I am sure Crystal would be fine, but I can't seem to find Silver, Gold or Crystal.

Edit: I found them at "http://snesmusic.org/hoot/kingshriek/"

Thanks. =)

There is also a stereo rip

The only problem with the Crystal GBS is that it doesn't have the full version of the title theme. (Crystal omits the slow intro bit) Other than that, it's fine.
by Elven Spellmaker at 5:04 AM EST on December 14, 2008
Warpstar, try tracks 82, 83 and 1 (84 is the menu) the title screen is split into three. Is this what you were referring to?
by Warpstar at 6:23 PM EST on December 14, 2008
No, just the music that plays on the title screen itself, after the opening movie. In Gold and Silver, the track has a short intro that isn't used in Crystal.

Silver intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WkivUcjCSo (at 0:51)

It's missing alright.
by holyice7 at 1:55 PM EST on December 15, 2008
That's why both Blue and Yellow were ripped, I believe. Different intros.

Blue and Yellow had very different intros indeed. Totally different, of course they were both ripped. =)

Yeah shame its missing that part, can anyone rip that one track from Silver?

Anything come of this? Anyone know of a Silver rip?
by ugetab at 12:24 PM EDT on May 7, 2009
http://www.angelfire.com/nc/ugetab/

Pokemon Gold rip, which doubles as a Silver rip, because the code and data used are identical between the 2 games.
by Elven Spellmaker at 2:15 PM EDT on May 7, 2009
Thanks Ugetab! =))
by Warpstar at 7:18 PM EDT on May 7, 2009
Couple errors I'm getting in that GBS: "Staff Roll" (track 36) isn't playing, and "The End" is missing (was track 92 in the Crystal GBS).
by ugetab at 9:00 PM EDT on May 7, 2009
There, added the banks needed, and modified the bank read-in code to work with it. Should be close enough, assuming only the title music changed. Appears done to me at least, judging from the 0xC0 bank used for the next song number.
by Warpstar at 10:42 PM EDT on May 7, 2009
Looks good. Here's an m3u playlist to go with it: http://www.sendspace.com/file/5d14kf
by holyice7 at 4:52 AM EDT on May 9, 2009
Hot sex.

Luckily I only need one track from this; converting them all from stereo to mono would be another big task. XD;;

What? I like my chiptunes in mono. I'm also deaf in one ear, so the point of stereo escapes me...
by arbingordon at 5:35 AM EDT on May 9, 2009
hey holyice7, would you mind retagging the Banjo Tooie USF set one more time?
(specifically, more like how someone42 tagged the Banjo Kazooie set; dynamic tracks included and numbered ##a, ##b, etc)
I ask for the sake of consistency, and mostly because I'm too lazy to do it myself for now, that you seem to be more knowledgeable of how it was ripped, and where extra files may possibly be lurking,(specifically the dynamic tracks that are "All-in-one") and because you seem more apt to tagging the files given this thread.

bytes 0x30-0x4f inclusive in file.

You can also use VGMToolbox if you're not happy with hex editing. 1) Goto the "Tag/Info Viewer" under "Examination/Exploration Tools". 2) Drag and Drop your GBS file into the upper area. 3) Right click the file name and choose "Update Tags". 4) Enter the new info and click "Update".

BTW, this works for NSF/GBS/PSID/MDX files. Hopefully xSF soon.

@Mastery

I could take a crack at it, but I'm currently working on Pokemon Gens III and IV for a friend. Just as well; I don't have the original file BT USF files anyway. I must have thrown it out at some point during my final tagging work, since I had about seven or eight folders with suffixes going on 'old,' 'crap,' 'wrong,' 'optimized,' etc...

If you can find me that .zip with all the files and their rudimentary tags and times, I'll see what I can do. I remember the lib was changed around a few times, and I have no memory of which one was which, so you might just have to suffer with the massive amount of work I've already done. ^^;;

See what you can find for me, and I'll take care of the rest.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I'm fairly certain that Josh removed the all-in-one tracks of his own volition the very first time he separated the different area themes. I don't think they've been around since several months before the big optimization debacle even started.

Still, if you can find them, I'll tag and time them, but don't think it's below me to chuck them in there with ###a prefixed on there and say I'm done, because it's not any more. Tagging these bloody things has done wonders for my organizational OCD. If it starts taking too long, I stop caring. XD

You can find some of the older rips here, but I think those rips had that 1 second delay problem, and various tracks sounding a bit off, so I'll see if josh has the files.
by ugetab at 4:46 PM EDT on May 10, 2009
I'd do this bit, but I'd need a copy of the original save-state used(I tend to think I don't have a copy). These are the simple changes that could be combined into the existing set to make working rips of the all-SFX tracks.

In Save-State:
80600200=3C03FFFF
80600204=3463FFFF

then log the tracks with multiple overlaps. Use the .ROM data and .RAM data, and mix it into the existing ROMLib/RAMLib, then do a simple edit to one of the differentiated miniusf files to use this modified code. That would leave the set compatible without much added effort.
by arbingordon at 6:08 PM EDT on May 10, 2009
that sounds complicated, so I'll see if I can get joshw to do it. (because, quite frankly, I barely understood anything after "I tend to think I don't have a copy")
by arbingordon at 3:54 PM EDT on May 12, 2009
well, joshw graciously uploaded the set with dynamic tracks here so when you get bored, feel free to take a look at it ;)
by holyice7 at 6:19 PM EDT on May 12, 2009
That file is pretty much my final tagging of the set. It doesn't contain any of the files you were asking for.
by Lunar at 11:32 AM EDT on May 14, 2009
snakemeat: thanks for the tip, I'll give that a go.
by holyice7 at 1:36 PM EDT on June 14, 2009
Oh, duh. ><

Mastery, the unsplit dynamic tracks are still uploaded in the prelim section of the site.

Now remind me again exactly what you wanted me to do?
by arbingordon at 2:06 PM EDT on June 14, 2009
don't worry about it, you've done enough, I think I'll rename it later today before I update the usf domain in various ways
by holyice7 at 4:09 PM EDT on June 14, 2009
Nah, just say what you need. I found some tag errors in my other sets that could use some updating, so I may as well make an addendum to Tooie while I'm at it.

I was playing through BK on XBLA and saw the wading boots theme correctly called the Stilt Stride, so I felt the need to change it.
by arbingordon at 9:49 PM EDT on June 14, 2009
essentially, all it is is a renumbering of tracks, a hybrid of sorts between your set and Tanookirby's
(ie minigame themes, and other longer tunes, with jingles like the wonderwing theme, and speed shoes themes appended to the end - as similar as possible to how the bajo kazooie set on usf.hcs64.com is numbered)
for example, dynamic tracks

##a - Spiral Mountain (All-In-One)
##b - Spiral Mountain (Land)
##c - Spiral Mountain (Water)

as far as tags, I think they're fine as is, thus I won't be touching them.

anyway I'll renumber the set as well, we can then look over any discrepencies and come to a conclusive tagging/ordering I'd hope
by holyice7 at 1:18 AM EDT on June 15, 2009
I numbered in order of appearance. Makes the soundtrack flow like the game. I can understand grouping the overworld themes together, I just don't prefer it that way.

As far as ###a, ###b for area dynamics, I don't really agree. I try to keep the numbering as simple as possible for all ranges of file organization. Some music programs handle it differently than others, so I try to only use appendix letters when absolutely necessary. In this case, as far as my numbering scheme, the unsplit dynamic tracks would get a letter appendix, since they weren't actually heard anywhere in the game itself.

Really, for this sort of thing, I'd just include the extra files in a separate folder in the .zip file, like I did with Banjo-Kazooie. Keeps things cleaner. As well, I think the USFlibs are different despite having the same name, so it would be a good idea to have them separate.

the dynamic track library (well I the one I have) is the same as the other library in the "final" rip, don't know what library your using, but that works with the extra tracks found here: http://joshw.info/usf/btooie/btooie-newstuff.zip

(note, the last miniusf in that archive doesn't work, remove it and use this one: http://joshw.info/usf/btooie/sparsec7.miniusf)
by arbingordon at 3:08 AM EDT on June 16, 2009
double post oh no lynch me!

anyway, if you plan to retag it according to things on xbla, then please make it available so that I can work from the newer tags
by Koto at 9:12 AM EDT on June 16, 2009
Ey, how I can make to play it at the standard speed? Sounds so faaaast. Anyway, thanks for the upload, I also search a GBS of G/S for his Title Theme.

I have also a GBS request. Is Zelda: Link's Awakening. The track "Tal Tal Mountain" in the regular GBS doesn't sound completely (Part of the track is mute without any reason). Someone can fix that?

Thanks guys

See ya
by holyice7 at 5:23 PM EDT on June 16, 2009
The old Banjo-Tooie set I posted up there isn't optimized, either, so all the tracks play at the same tempo, whatever that is.

As far as a Link's Awakening set, try the GBS to GSF conversion unknownfile did. It sounds pretty right to me.

And Mastery, what do you mean by 'according to things on XBLA?'
by arbingordon at 5:34 PM EDT on June 16, 2009
I mean this
I was playing through BK on XBLA and saw the wading boots theme correctly called the Stilt Stride, so I felt the need to change it.
Any other changes like that/your newest tagged set would be appreciated.
by arbingordon at 8:47 PM EDT on June 20, 2009
bump in case holy ice has retagged his/her set yet
