Two requests by holyice7 at 3:36 PM EST on February 2, 2009
I have two somewhat unusual requests.

The first pertains to the Banjo-Kazooie set. I'm wondering if it's at all possible to get USF's of the sound effects, particularly the different versions of Grunty's laughter, and Banjo and Kazooie's various sounds, and if so, if anyone would mind getting it for me.

The second bit is a PSF2 request, for Lupin III: Treasure of the Sorcerer King. I've been meaning to look into the process of actually learning to do this myself, but I just can't find the time to study it, seeing as I know nothing about what base skill set I'd need to know to start.

So, if there isn't already a PSF2 for Lupin III, what data can I get off my game disc that would be needed?

*.SQ, *.HD, *.BD, LIBSD.IRX, MODHSYN.IRX and MODMIDI.IRX

Most PS2 games are streamed though, your best bet would be to list the disc directory here, maybe it uses some common driver/middleware.

I got a LIBSD.IRX and a MODHSYN.IRX, but that's it for matches.

Well, I uploaded the two .IRX files I found if they're of any use, but the disc directory looks like this:

Have you checked if the music is in the ADX directory? As .ADX files (or possibly various other containers)?
by holyice7 at 3:20 PM EST on February 3, 2009
I would have jumped on it if there were something I recognized in there, but everything therein is labeled .AFS.

If anyone's interested in venturing into the project, I'll zip and upload the whole thing in a bit.

AFS are simple archives, there are a bunch of extractors for them. You can find mine (lafs) on the ripping tools page if you are comfortable with operating it from the command line.
by Knurek at 3:26 PM EST on February 3, 2009
Try using hcs' lafs (http://www.hcs64.com/files/lafs02.zip) on it, should unpack ADXes contained inside quite nicely.

If you can't get it to work, please up the files someplace.

Too slow!

say, what's in that IRX directory?

navigate to the folder that has the rom contents with a command prompt, then type
dir /s >> file.txt
copy the contents of the file and upload here, or upload to some website
(this will probably help hcs/knurek and perhaps even uf help you get the vgm from the rom)
by holyice7 at 5:42 PM EST on February 3, 2009
I ran the most likely suspect (BGM.AFS) through lafs and got 86 files. File files.

That's about as far as I got.
by Knurek at 6:14 PM EST on February 3, 2009
If the files are on the large side (2 MB or more), try renaming them to *.adx (if they aren't like that already). VGMStream should play them fine.

If not, just upload it someplace...

Also, one thing to note, some KID PS2 games have music in SOUND.AFS, while BGM.AFS stores background graphics (don't ask me why).
by holyice7 at 6:54 PM EST on February 3, 2009
Yep, that *.adx was all I needed.

Thanks, all!

Now, as for that Banjo-Kazooie stuff...?

If you could be as nice and upload the files someplace. Lupin games have usually a nice music, so it'd be appreciated.

Oh, of course I will.

I just need time to name the stuff. oo;; That means digging everything out to do it.

Good news, everyone!

A long drive and a burger with a friend later, and I've got my PS2 back. Now I can get on tagging the set.

Now, does anyone have any suggestions or help for my Banjo-Kazooie query?
