Muffins are great by unknownfile at 11:55 AM EDT on March 9, 2009
Despite what you may think, this thread does not relate to muffins. Actually, it might, but I don't think it does. What I think it relates to is anything.

It's been a long time since the summer of 2005 when I was bored at summer camp. I have therefore decided that now, it is about time for me to be baking muffins once again.

Watch this thread for more information on the pastries and what becomes of them. They will be served fresh over here.

msf? What console is that for, Xbox?
by marioman at 5:15 PM EDT on March 9, 2009
Arcade machines. (MSF = MAME Sound Format) Nice to see some progress on this.

Aw, here I thought it was Muffins So Flavorful.
by Camo Yoshi at 7:56 PM EDT on March 9, 2009
YES! Now I can finally dump those old Raiden II/IIS midis from vgmusic and use the real deal! Thank you!

Kinda want a muffin now.

Great work, Unknownfile! Do great justice to those Arcade games! (Especially the ones I've tried to get music from)

Most of this is carrying over scraps of code from SMSE2K, because I figure it'd be better.

Anyways, there are several versions of this format, one that was made back in 2005 when I knew nothing about hackan gaems (basically just a container for M1 to use), and another that Joshw did but required DLLs. This one is using metadata that contains information about a specific driver.

Next week I have off, so it means I have plenty of time to do whatever I want, besides my job and other stuff that is likely to be brought up.

Camo Yoshi: you do know that M1's been able to play Raiden and Raiden II on demand for like 6 years now, right? :)
by unknownfile at 1:01 PM EDT on March 11, 2009
shut up arbee, this is MY project whoring thread
by Camo Yoshi at 7:47 PM EDT on March 11, 2009
No, I didn't... *embarrassed*

Could you link M1, please? Or the Raiden II sound files?
by Arbee at 12:42 PM EDT on March 12, 2009
Latest M1 is here: http://rbelmont.mameworld.info/?page_id=223

You'll probably want to use the Bridge GUI for it, which is here: http://www.e2j.net/downloads.html

You don't need special sound files. M1 is a sound-only multiple arcade emulator that uses the ROMs you already have, and it can record the songs (and often sound effects) to .WAV.
by Knurek at 12:53 PM EDT on March 12, 2009
Don't forget about the latest M1.XML definition file: http://mameload.mameworld.info/m1xmldownload.htm (has some more games supported, since the one in official package is ancient) and the playlist pack: http://www.e2j.net/files/lists.zip

Actually, the latest version of M1 is here: http://rbelmont.mameworld.info/m1078a10-w32.zip

Interesting how activity in the M1 thread stopped a few months ago.

Dammit UF, you made me hungry!
by Camo Yoshi at 11:49 AM EDT on March 14, 2009
Last question, Arbee:

Does recording them to WAVs decrease their quality like SPC to WAV in Super Jukebox?
by SmartOne at 5:26 PM EDT on March 14, 2009
The quality should be preserved if you use the proper sample rate and bit depth.
lame specifications from hell by unknownfile at 9:13 AM EDT on March 31, 2009
Do not attempt to try to understand this convoluted mess.
