USF ripping tools by mudlord at 10:36 PM EDT on April 26, 2009
I was just wondering on the links to anything related to USF. I already have a recent version of IDA so there's no issue there.

I just need links to the tools used, as well as any notes on USF ripping.

I am already familiar with X86 ASM, as well as with the Nintendo 64, so any help with this would be great, as I know some games that are in need of some rips (excluding games that use MusyX)

ugetab had something newer, but you might look at my old walkthrough. A lot of the links are broken, I've gathered much of the tools here.

Thanks, and thats the reason I asked: Since all the links in the past were broken, I had to ask.

Since you're asking anyway, I thought you might find value in ugetab's thread regarding USF rips. I only went through it (just now) very briefly, so it might not actually contain anything useful (it was a few months back that I read the whole thing). If it's not helpful, then be sure to check the IRC logs for around the same date(s). I know ugetab talked about various things in there, and you might find what you're looking for in regards to ripping USFs. Hopefully something there will be helpful. Mouser X over and out.

I noticed some references to PJ64 1.6 source code....I guess that could be obtained by private means (if hcs still has it?), since PJ64 1.4 has some issues with some ROMS and PJ64 1.6.....
by Mouser X at 1:17 AM EDT on April 27, 2009
I'm pretty sure the current version of 64th Note is based on PJ64 1.6. PJ64 v1.7 (closed source) seems to work quite well though. If you're really interested, try to get in contact with the programmers. I couldn't find an email on their site. They seem to want people to register to their forums, and PM them there. Also, I've been running through the forum, because I could have sworn ugetab had another useful thread. I found this, but I'm sure it's not what I'm looking for.

[EDIT] Ah! I'm pretty sure this is what I was looking for.
[EDIT2] And you might find this useful as well (if it's not part of the previous link).

Crap.... I need to go to bed (I have to get up in about 5 hours). I'd keep looking, but I need to get to bed. Mouser X over and out.

Much appreciated!

Final link in the chain is IDA Pro 4.30a. Currently I have my hands on 5.2, but having access to the older version would be nice.

Problem is:
A) Freeware version only supports PE executables
B) All links to full version with MIPS support are either dead or utterly busted :(

If you haven't already been back to #usf, check it out. I know there's people there who can lead you in the right direction to get IDA 4. I picked up a copy through PSF_Rippers, but I'm not sure if the info. is still there or not. Sorry I can't help more than that. Hopefully the people I'm thinking of will be available (or someone else will be able to guide you). Mouser X over and out.

I am IDA
by mudlord at 3:12 AM EDT on April 30, 2009
Thankyou for that. I now have everything I need.

Already got the N64 Function Reference manual for something else tho....

Might collect everything into a spot so this stuff is not lost in future...

by Lunar at 8:09 AM EDT on May 2, 2009
Anyone know why Wetrix still isn't up? Tagged version is here - http://www.vgmusic.com/~lunar/wetrix_usf.zip

Toy Story 2 hasn't been ripped... ;)
by arbingordon at 3:45 PM EDT on May 3, 2009
Lunar, that's because a certain someone hasn't finished organizing what is to be the "new" usf "database," which will incorporate essentially every set that has been made available.
(stay tuned)

That could also explain why the tagged SF Rush set isn't up either.

SmartOne: So hasn't...

* Sin and Punishment (awesome game, even better soundtrack....uses 11 threads, 3 of which are for video, one for audio, two for RSP)
* Iggy's Reckin Balls (uses standard MIDI routines)
* Dark Rift (not sure about that game)
