All the old tunes with an odd echo are in the game?
Plus they have used awful instruments too, changing tempos.
They have blatantly just converted them directly and not removed the files they were converted from. =/
A big tut to Nintendo and they all sound awful in the new style and sound nothing like the epic DP soundtrack. (They could have even used the Leaf Green GS soundtrack music and it would sound better.)
Thanks for this, its nice to hear what "music" it has.
In my opinion, FireRed and LeafGreen were just awful, since they used the Gen III synth. I really just found that set offensive.
DPPt was better, but I think they really hit it off with this one. The old sounding stuff is clearly remixed, but it doesn't sound awful. The echo is a crying shame, though.
The new arrangements are bad, and the "8-bit-like" versions are lower quality than the original Gameboy. Proof that more "advanced" and sampled sounds aren't always "better." The old version tunes aren't even in stereo, unlike the originals.
This makes me want to listen to Sapphire's GSFs, etc. in Highly MORE Advanced (aka VBA-M.) If only I could figure out my stupid little modified plugin...

I can't believe you're now complaining about the music. Sure, they have different tempos now, but at least, unlike Fire Red and Leaf Green, they DO keep their original pitches. And of course the battle remixes are the most awesome part of this game.

I loved FRLG's soundtrack, I find evey song has been chucked through a random converter and has been ballsed by the need for trackfucking... The melodies are constantly jumping instruments in some songs and it sounds awful. =/

As I have said, I actually liked the FRLG soundtrack alot.
I find each instrument has undergone soften edges effect and they all sound so silly. Tempos are naffly horrid (What have they done to the surfing and the newbark town theme?)...
The original Gameboy versions sound so much better. The voices were perfectly balanced and crystal clear. Hard-panned stereo for the win. "Advanced" effects like reverb other junk makes the new music sound even more trashy.
Why is it so hard to believe that I don't like the new arrangements?
The annoying thing is that they're presenting the 8-bit sounding remixes as the 'original' music, even though it's as much of a remix as the Gen IV stuff in the game.
Not only that, but it looks like a lot of people believe that it's the real thing. I'll have to start toting the streamed soundtrack I made for them in the meantime.

It's obvious that Nintendo tried to make it sound like Pokemon Stadiumish for the GBA even using 8-bit PCM just as Ruby/Saffron/Emerald did. It's not bad and its not that great either.
I hope I'm not too late with my first 2SF submission to the site.
I decided to rip the sdat myself. That way I could make sure that no one has done something horrible to it (making bad edits to it or something) and that all the tracks would be kept intact. ^^
Anyway, I have also tagged every track and made sure that they are timed right. I am releasing two packs. One of them has the 2sflib smaller than the other, but both of them works. I hope you will upload this to the hcs archives. ^.^

I decided to keep duplicates, so that it would feel more like a complete 2sf pack. But if you want me to remove them, I'll do that another day. :3
I get some corrupt archive issues when I extract CaitSith2's ripkit, but the 'testpack.nds' was safe, so I managed to take that out. I feel that VGMToolbox is so much easier to use. ^^
Please look in my link again. I shortened the set to 286 tracks. >w<
All the tracks that are in the non-processed version are ok, unless you removed the Sound Effects which I personally like, especially since they are in the SDAT
I did rip 2 different 2sflibs. One of them had everything kept and it was about 2.3 MB big, and the other one keeps the BGM and it's 1.65 MB. If you want a 2sflib with both the BGM and sound effects, then I can rip that out too. ^^
