Ty: The Tasmanian Tiger 2 by wolupgm6 at 9:09 PM EST on November 6, 2009
Hey, I have a Ty2 ISO here, and have found a 400mb file called Media.RKV. I believe this is where the music is located. Is there any such way of getting the music OUT of Media.RKV at the current time?

RKV Extractor

I made this a while ago for tthe PS2 games, could be ttha it works for all systems, successfully ripped other games with it too...

Yes indeed. Works a charm for the GC version of Ty2. Thanks

Anyone know how to convert the *.mus files into *.tydsp files as seen Here?
by manakoAT at 2:47 AM EST on November 10, 2009
just rename them to .tydsp ^_^
by wolupgm6 at 8:13 PM EST on November 12, 2009
For some odd reason they still don't play. Have I done something wrong?

I used the above tool to extract the *.mus files from GC_Media.rkv, and renamed them to *.tydsp. I'm using the latest build of VGMStream if that helps.
by manakoAT at 4:05 AM EST on November 13, 2009
Could you upload an example file?? Maybe the .tydsp are somehow fixed or the extractor doesn't work with the Gamecube version correctly.
by wolupgm6 at 10:20 AM EST on November 13, 2009
Well, here's music_kartmenu.mus (click to download, save target as wont work). It was outputted by the RKVExtractor above. Renaming to *.tydsp seemingly does nothing. If anyone figures it out or has it working, please tell me how.

I can't download the file, please use a common file hoster like zippyshare or megaupload
by wolupgm6 at 9:09 PM EST on November 14, 2009
Something went wrong with the server, so I reuploaded it. Sorry.

Megaupload and Zippyshare are blocked here sorry.

wolupgm6,it's GC DSP 4bit ADPCM and played normal with *.mus and *.tydsp in VGMStream, maybe some bug in OS or winamp...
by manakoAT at 3:43 AM EST on November 15, 2009
Yes, plays fine here too, as .mus and .tydsp...
by hcs at 4:03 AM EST on November 15, 2009
Latest vgmstream is here, btw.
by wolupgm6 at 12:06 AM EST on November 16, 2009
Its still not working. TEST.EXE warns that the file isnt supported and the Winamp plugin doesn't work. What versions of VGMStream are you guys using?

--All good now. Winamp still doesnt play them (I have no clue why, I've tried EVERYTHING) but works with test.exe, so I'm just gonna batch-convert them to wav. Thanks.

I think what's more important, is to know what version you're using. It works for me as well (though, I have to rename it to *.tydsp, because otherwise my SID plugin complains (I don't know why)). When HCS linked you to VGMstream versions, did you check to make sure you had the most recent version? The one I have installed is the same as the one here. If you didn't bother checking your version (against the site), then perhaps, maybe, that'd be a much better method than asking what the problem is. First, pursue what methods/answers are available to you, then ask your questions.

If the version on HCS's site doesn't work, then there's something wrong on your end. Like I said, it worked fine here. Mouser X over and out.

Everytime I posted, I downloaded the lastest VGMStream from Sourceforge and tested first.
by Mouser X at 1:18 AM EST on November 17, 2009
Did you compile your own (download the source code, etc.), or download the "premade" binary on sourceforge? The versions on sourceforge are ancient (unless you compiled/built it yourself), which is why HCS provided a link to where the most recent version can be found (and is what, apparently, all of us, except you, are using).

Also of worthy note:
Mouser X said:

(Emphasis added)

When I said, here, I meant here, on this site that you're currently on, not on sourceforge. If I had meant sourceforge, I would not have said here, without providing an obvious indication to which "here" I meant (meaning, I almost certainly would have provided a link, which I did not, obviously implying here, this site that you're currently on).

Again, HCS provided a link for a reason, so that you could update VGMstream. If you're updating from source, and building your own VGMstream, then it would seem that there's a fault in the current code (possible, in which case that's something that needs to be known. But I would have thought people would have already checked that, but I could be wrong), or there's a fault in the method you use to compile the source code you've downloaded.

So, please update either from source (compile/build your own), or update from the location that HCS tells people to update from (officially, he's told people to ignore the sourceforge site for binaries, since he doesn't update those nearly as often as he updates his site. It's much easier to put updates on his site, which is why his site has the most up-to-date files).

Chances are, that if you keep up-to-date (which is what HCS was trying to help you out with), all your problems will be solved. If you are indeed using the binary on sourceforge, then you're 50 "versions" behind. Like I said, check here, since that's where the most recent versions are, and not on sourceforge. Mouser X over and out.

I figured that. Its all good now, as I said. Also the link HCS gave had links to the VGMStream directory and the Sourceforge one. Before I downloaded the Sourceforge one, I had the lates from the link you provided, and compiled it myself. I believe there was a problem with the compiler to be honest but its all good as I said.
by Franpa at 10:52 AM EST on November 21, 2009
Yeah he needs to remove that sourceforge link or make it more obvious that your meant to compile from sourceforge and not use the pre-compiled ones from there.
by hcs at 6:16 PM EST on November 21, 2009
Clear enough now?
by wolupgm6 at 7:39 PM EST on November 24, 2009
Certainly
