What winamp version are you using? The very latest ones (5.571?) have had trouble with a lot of plugins. If you open winamp configuration (Ctrl+P), do you see vgmstream in the Input Plug-ins list (Plug-ins -> Input in the tree). Also, what files are you trying to play?
the files im trying to play by rogelio11 at 3:57 AM EST on January 18, 2010
i got the latest winamp version. the ps2 files im trying to play is .ast but seems it doesn't play exactly. i click play. doesn't do anything.
The .ast that vgmstream supports is from Gamecube and Wii games, not PS2. As manakoAT is fond of saying, the extension really doesn't tell you much.
If you can upload one of these files somewhere someone can take a look at it and look into adding support.
files uploaded for support to view by rogelio11 at 3:53 AM EST on January 20, 2010
i just uploaded the PS2 music files of .ast for you or anyone who can view it.
but anyways, i try to play other offical ps2 music files in winamp. the winamp player suddenly cant play it. i click play. nothing happen. what steps or what folders the vgstream files need to be at in order to make it work? also what settings it need to be adjust on vgstream?
the link for support or anyone who can download it to view the files,
the music files are from P.T.O. IV. a WW2 game from KOEI. also it seems it is the only music files types that i saw in the ps2 game folder directory that is a .ast file type.
but let me know if what steps i need to fix so vgstream can play music files correctly. thanks.
You have to be more specific. When you say "other official ps2 music files", it tells me no more than saying "I'm trying to read a book written in some language".
The steps outlines in the readme.txt file should be all you need to install vgmstream for Winamp. Try doing it step by step again. If you could tell me exactly what steps you have taken, I might be able to identify where you are making mistakes. You may be doing everything right and the files just aren't supported.
I'm also confused what you mean by "the winamp player suddenly cant play it". Did these files work before? The rest of your messages suggest that it has never worked, but it is unclear.
I will look at the P.T.O. IV. files to see if I can add support for them.
Well, i had some trouble with several ads files with vgmstream that played well with in_cube. It seems the files get added to the list but vgmstream considers the files incorrect. Let me debug it.
Also i just noticed the wii fit plus channel bns doesn't play either, but maybe it's like the bns of all the virtual console games that it's not streamed audio?
