Kingdom Hearts 2 playback... by Hotcakes at 7:35 PM EST on February 26, 2010
OK, so what do I need to do to get these vags to play back correctly? I can hear the tune, but there's also a lot of distortion and they're only playing as 1 channel tunes, which I'm guessing is not so right.

What are you trying to play them with? Where did you get them from?
by bxaimc at 8:19 PM EST on February 26, 2010
yea, it's true. the VAG set plays distorted while the GENH set works fine.

'vgmstream r741' and the tracker, to answer hcs, but...

Yeh genh'd em and they play fine after forcing them to play as 2 channels. So nvm.

Kingdom Hearts 2 is a Playstation 2 game... wouldn't you use Highly Experimental to play them back?(which it does and sounds fine)

Although my music copy is in "psf" format.

Franpa, there are 6 streams in the game, or didn't you notice that your "psf" set is incomplete??

Hotcakes: Another solution until it's fully supported: Use in_cube and rename the files to .khv, this will add loop support too...

It should be noted that if you're going to install in_cube, you'll want to name the *.dll to something like "in_zcube.dll" or something. The reason being is because that way, VGMstream should get loaded first (Winamp loads plugins alphabetically), and therefore it should have priority over in_cube. The reason this is important is because in_cube and VGMstream share a lot of formats, but in_cube doesn't necessarily support them properly, and VGMstream is more likely to support them properly.

Just a heads up on that. I used to do this for quite awhile, until I realized that occasionally, I was getting a "supported" format mixed up, because in_cube was playing it, not VGMstream (and thus, the format wasn't actually supported by VGMstream). Hope that's helpful. Mouser X over and out.

Thanks manako, but I'll try and not install in_cube unless I -really- need it for something (and even then I'm likely to ignore it altogether). I don't much care if my sets sync up with everyone elses, since I'm not seeding any more after a recent reformat... can just keep the genh files, it's no problem :)
