Need Help on Speed Control by Tanookirby at 3:37 PM EDT on October 22, 2005
Some of you might notice that the USF's for cartain games play at a tempo that is different from what they use during gameplay. To solve this problem, I use a Winamp plugin called Pacemaker that allows me to change the speed of a music file. I also listen to an Mp3 version of the song to make sure the USF is at the right speed. My problem is that I do not know what tempo or speed each one should be excactly set to. Here are my setting for a few games:

Donkey Kong 64: Move the speed (speed not tempo) up two notches.
MarioKart 64: Move the tempo up three notcges.
Yoshi's Story: Move the tempo up five notches.
Super Mario 64: Move the tempo up four notches for some songs and eight notches for others (such as looping steps).

You can get the Pacemaker plugin here.

how much is a notch?
by hcs at 7:30 PM EDT on October 22, 2005
Between a jiffy and two shakes of a lamb's tail.

When I say up three notches, I mean set it to +3.0. If you have Pacemaker installed, you should not have a problem.

I think he's asking what one notch represents.

One 'notch' is one percent. So putting it up 3 notches changes the speed/tempo to 103% of the currently playing file.

103%? Maybe you mean 300%? I don't think you'd notice a 3% change in tempo. Then again I haven't used this plugin.
by Poobah at 9:25 PM EDT on October 22, 2005
No, I mean 103%. Tanookirby must be really good at observing subtle differences like this.
by Tanookirby at 9:43 PM EDT on October 22, 2005
Actually, its not really subtle. Try changing the songs tempo from 0 to 3 and you should see a difference.
by Poobah at 9:51 PM EDT on October 22, 2005
The difference is detectable, but I still consider it subtle.
