Super Mario History Soundtrack CD? by TheUltimateKoopa at 10:11 PM EDT on October 21, 2010
You know the the thing that came with Super Mario Collection Special Pack in Japan, today? Anyone got a copy of the CD? If so, can you post the track list?
so, nothing that hasn't already been released elsewhere. yawn. also a little confusing that they didn't throw in the Overworld themes from the Super Mario Land games, it isn't like they were lacking space.
Well that's a bit lame. I was hoping the soundtrack CD would contain tracks from, you know...the game it was packed with. On the one hand, I'd love to have some All-Stars versions on CD; on the other hand, I suppose I could make my own soundtrack from foo_gep's sample-accurate output with likely less effort than finding and downloading MP3's or FLAC's or whatever of some real CD...or than finding the actual CD for purchase. Still....booo Nintendo.
you're forgetting that people pay money for this, therefore have a right to complain
Oh lord, really? This is your thought process?
Anyway, it's not above criticism and I never said it was. I'm not defending the album or attacking your disappointment; I'm attacking the unreasonably high expectations people set on every single media release nowadays. And the inevitable whining that comes when those expectations are dashed. Nobody promised you this was going to be a mind-blowing 80-minute Mario music extravaganza, yet every single game, movie and album gets hyped up like it's the second coming. Some of it comes without even an ounce of advertising! It's pretty unhealthy from a cultural standpoint.
Disappointment is one thing, but someone has to teach you kids to keep your expectations in check in the first place.
Yes, selling a booklet, 20 minutes of random tracks from the series, and a straight port of mario all stars is entirely worth ¥2,500/$30. Good point, sir, good point. However, I think you may be missing another point - do you actually know anyone who figured this drivel would be any good? I certainly don't. It seems much more the case that people are getting fed up with being the same thing over and over again, or in this case, a bit of garbage as well.
