I was wondering, if anyone knows yet... 3D Land has a load of bcwav files, of which one is actually music (Title). Does Mario Kart 7 have any bcwavs that are music?
I pretty much just edited the source for RSEQ2MIDI to work with CSEQ sequences, so I still don't understand it completely myself. Loop markers still need to be figured out, and some of the OoT songs come out wrongly pitched in some of the tracks, or off tempo for a small number of songs.
We have great progress so far though, having CWAV, CSTM, and CSEQ decoding & conversion working. I'm still spending some time when I can learning more about RBNK and RWAR, so hopefully if I get that figured out, it'll be easy to update VGMTrans to dump soundbanks as DLS and SF2 files. Afterwards, it shouldn't be too bad to do the same for CBNK and CWAR.
So far, though, the main thing I'm interested in is basically, any streamed audio from Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, and maybe others I've forgotten.
I know someone was working on an updated VGMtrans, I can't remember where I found it though. I also pushed a new commmit to Github so you can dump CSEQ files from dumps, if you want to grab it and compile it. I'll release a binary later, though, if you don't have VS C# installed.
I'm still curious, does Team_Fail still have the entire 3D Land sample pack? He said he had everything like that, and it hasn't been acknowledged since.
Ugh, dying for a Kirby Triple Deluxe rip. Can't wait until music rips of 3DS games start happening, really... though in the case of KTD I'd graciously accept even a line recording.
Don't think all the OOT3d sequences where converted or converted right. I didn't hear the fire temple, battle music and a few others and some were blank midis.
As a response to starerik's question about whether anyone has done Mario Kart 7 rips, yet, my question is... has anyone done any full BCSTM rips for any games at all?
Mario Kart Wii used both streams and sequences. It's almost all streams, but there were sequences for the MKWii channel. I don't think they would've been able to fit all those dynamic channels in otherwise, as I'm not sure if a BRSTM can fit more than 8 channels.
As for MK7, I'm not sure. I'm not confident the new wi-fi theme is streamed, even though it could be. I am confident, however, that the game at least mostly uses streams.
Rips won't happen anytime soon. The only possible method is extremely tedious and uncommon to most of us. The only way to get everything would be to decrypt file systems, which is nearly impossible to figure out at this point.
I'm not one to normally kill hope, but there is little to none in terms of full rips right now. There's no telling how long it'll take for someone to find a common method towards decryption, if anything is found at all.
1. Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS isn't even out yet!
2. I don't think we'll be able to rip Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon JUST yet. The 3DS has been decrpyted, but not publically. I'm not even sure if the game's music is streamed or not. I guess it is but I'm not sure if Wwise makes streams or just sequences.
I know ripping music from the 3DS isn't possible yet, but can someone post some tracklists of how the musical files look in the ROMs? (Something like the Super Mario 3D Land list that was posted a few pages back.) No SFX files, only music ones.
I'd love to see a list like that of PM: Sticker Star in particular--also NSMB2, OoT 3D, and KI: Uprising if possible.
It's fun (at least for me) puzzling out which songs from the game the various file names correspond to. =D
So I got the requirements to 3ds dump, but my issue is getting FCRamDump to work. Any tutorial on how to get FCRamDump to properly work with a flash cart? (I'm still guessing that no .3ds decrypter is made yet.)
Hey, back again finally. So I found a 3DS with 1.1 on Kijiji the other day, and I'm working on purchasing it. I have the necessary funds after selling stuff, I'm just trying to get back in tabs with the owner. From there, I plan to start working on getting dumps of audio formats and I plan to try getting other games dumped. I don't yet know what games' audio I'll be able to readily dump, but I hope to start dumping audio from 4.x and older.
Alright, I got ram dumping well on the way, I've made a few dumps myself of a few different games, and I have tons of CSEQ files I cannot convert at the moment. Is there any form of documentation on CSEQ anywhere?
2. CSEQ might be fine but it might be like RSEQ where some of the files are convertible while some don't seem to be. I'm a lazy person but I don't think I would've been able to figure out RSEQ either.
Do you mind uploading the NSMB2 dump and linking it here? Would like to have it only if the rom had any midis or samples in it, I don't really care about the streams. :P
The rom doesn't have any midi music, AFAIK, but maybe the loading screen jingle music might be sequenced. I know nothing else is, though. Though to be honest, you should've known that the music is streamed, because it's mostly ports...
Crap, well couldn't hurt to ask. Anyways I'm mainly looking for anything with samples or sequences from the current newest rom dumps. Has to be from mario or zelda though.
Well, I'm not sure if Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Yoshi's New Island are sequenced or streamed, but I think the rest of the Mario games on the 3DS use streamed music. I think Mario Party: Island Tour uses sequenced music all the way through and Yoshi's New Island might be a mix of both streams and sequences, not sure.
You have the stream files or the csar or something, don't you? IDK. But if you are confirming they use streams, then Sticker Star might use both, because spoilers, the music for when Kersti is sacrificing herself during the final battle speeds up without pitchchanging.
I know it's not ripped yet but if anyone has the dumps for a link between worlds let me know because I actually wouldn't mind having the streams for those.
Does anybody even have that, and is it legit? Because now I'm seriously considering whether or not people will ever have a tool to decrypt 3DS released.
It's not there, sorry :( I think it's legit, the reason Robotortoise removed it was probably because he wanted to be more tidy. But he shouldn't've removed it.
Hellooooo by robotortoise at 5:05 PM EDT on May 21, 2014
Hi. Yeah, the 3DS decryption tools was....not for decrypting the game carts. I'll add them back up though.
FYI though, I tend to remove things in my "robotortoise" folder every so often, because it's where I store files to send to other people bc I'm lazy. So don't expect it to stay there forever. :P
And yet no one has been able to rip the bms from super mario galaxy 2, they're all in szs format with none of the current szs extraction tools working on them but if soneek can do it be my guest.
Super mario galaxy is a different story though, the bms's have been ripped and converted to midi but they're just menu tunes and powerup themes, nothing really useful.
To dj4uk6cjm: All of those szs files from JaiSeq.arc have a yaz0 header. Use yaz0dec.exe to remove them. Though it would output the file as .rarc But it's actually the bms format, already. Use the HxD to explore you would find the "C1 00 00" header which all the bms files have.
They're on Forums FFShrine (and some are on BrawlCustomMusic, but I'm not sure if they're pixel-perfect loops), but a few songs are sequenced. I would really like those Yoshi's New Island streams, I can't download from FFShrine anymore. :(
BTW, some of YNI's level music is multi-channel streams (some of the instruments go away when you have a Mega Eggdozer)
@dj4uk6cjm: I meant the sequences that accompany the in-game music, such as the drums and synth in the Bowser fights, or the two Megaleg themes. Those have not yet been ripped to my knowledge. Slippytoad's version is not a rip, btw.
Meh, the OST is higher quality anyway. Apparently alot of the streams are at 32728 Hz anyway. At least none of the released ripped streams vary in sample rate. Some of the soundtracks I uploaded to Brawl Custom Music had sample rates all over the place.
Edit: Oh, and I updated your upload with the OST version and cut the loop in half. First song I've looped and encoded as a brstm in over a year.
Do you have the bcstms from Bravely Default? Your upload had a sample rate of 32728 Hz.
I should have been more specific in my request. I know we have midi rips of Galaxy 1--what I meant was "supply soundfonts for these midis so I can mix them with the streams/OST tracks where applicable to make nice, HQ rips of the musics that we do not have so far." I'd do it myself, but I have no idea how soundfont-ripping works.
@Claus, let's stay on topic about 3DS in here. Come by IRC sometime btw.
@furrybob Yeah, the quality is much better with the OST release. The guitar riffs at 2:45 and 5:39 are different, which was why I left it so long before. Stop by IRC if you can today.
So downloading the OoT3D sequence files that soneek provided earlier this thread, I got all the track names. Of course they're unplayable at this point, so just for fun, I took a guess as to what music each file plays (in general using the OST track names to identify each song). How accurate do you all think this is?

(I admittedly had the help of one or two Japanese-English translation websites on some of those file names!) I think that accounts for almost every piece of music in the game. On the first file, "ADULT LINK," that probably refers to either Sheik's revelation as Zelda before giving Link the Light Arrows or Zelda whisking Link back in time after the final battle. Either way, it's only one of those tracks, which means we're missing the other from this file list. Also for the end credits, I'm operating under the assumption that the credits in this game are split into four parts just the same as their USF counterparts on the N64. This would mean the 3DS-specific end credits theme (which is a remix of the Hyrule Field theme) is likewise missing from this list, but that could be a movie file located elsewhere in the ROM.
Speaking of Hyrule Field, I didn't include it in this list, but the last 22 sequence files are all "fieldXXX.cseq" at 3 or so KB--which is safe to assume are the piecemeal bits of "Hyrule Field Main Theme," just the same as the USF set.
Maybe. The world may never know...MIDI conversion is still buggy. Cseq2midi should be buried somewhere here in case anyone wants to look at these unknown events.
I like where this thread is going. I also would encourage improvement on the Cseq format. Also, soneek, are you going to upload those OOT3D seqs/soundfonts somewhere so I (and others) can look at them?
That menu thing from Mario Kart 7 is not an early or beta song. It plays during the menus on download play, if you are the player that doesn't have the game.
Has anyone done a rip of Sonic Generations 3DS music? Because there are the bonus music that aren't on the official soundtrack and still not ripped (not on the console version). I'm making a game called Theatrhythm Sonic the Hedgehog (based of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy). I've done a lot of things and the game will be ready really soon! But I just need these 2 songs [if some have them already, these are exclusive remixes of "Door into Summer" (Knuckles' Chaotix) and "Sonic Stage" (Sonic Battle)] Call me if there's news. Contact me if you want infos about the game or if you already have the two tracks!
@soneek I know this thread is old, but I have a question; did you rip the Ocarina of Time 3D soundfonts from the actual game or did you make them yourself with samples from the original?
