hmm nevermind got it to work. these are the steps.

1. Extract AAX files from CPKs/CSBs
b) convert AAX files to ADX using AAX2ADX
III. convert ADX files to wav
Vier. Convert wav files to MP3/OGG/FLAC/Whatever

Why not just convert the AAX files with vgmstream? What utility are you using that is failing you?

i am attempting to use test.exe from the r967-test.zip 20-Aug-2011 05:11

and it keeps saying
failed opening *filename*

That's weird, I don't get any errors with the same version with the rip on the tracker. Any specific file that isn't working? Maybe you're not giving it the correct path to the file?

i was ripping the pc version. maybe i didnt unpack the cpks properly (though the files checked out size wise).

i also renamed it to happy.aax like the readme says and used the exact command line it gives to be sure.

i just downloaded a rip someone already did instead. thanks for the help.

Hmm, maybe that's the difference, the PC version might have different files (I was looking at the 360 version). Though it is also possible that the extraction screwed up somehow. Now this is gonna bug me...

here is one of the files not sure if it will help

Yeah, it looks like the extraction messed up and started too late in the file; the header is missing and part of the next file's header is visible at the end. What tool did you use to extract this? If it was my cpk_unpack, you might have better luck with aluigi's QuickBMS script for CRI CPK (or vice versa!)

Thanks for putting up with my curiosity.

I used your tool to extract the audio from the CPK files HCS on the PC version.

The two big 2GB CPK archives that contain most of the files don't unpack with that tool though. Only with aluigi's BMS script.
