There was apparently a USF rip that consisted of a few tracks that aren't on whatever version I have.
For example, on the rip I have, I only have 2 variations of Siege on Bowser's Castle, however, apparently, I'm told there was a rip that someone made that had 6 variations. Does anyone have that rip?
It's here! by tree_frog at 10:58 PM EDT on June 11, 2012
Hi TheUltimateKoopa:
I believe that the songs you are referring to can be found here (in mp3 format): https://rapidshare.com/files/642140244/Paper_Mario.rar
Note that the rip isn't as consistently good quality as the ones you posted on brawlcustommusic.com, but it held me over until I stumbled upon yours a few days ago.
I found one song that is missing from your (fantastic) rip - it's the variation on the Dry Dry Desert song that plays when you're at the Oasis.
I was only able to find a version of the song that has the water SFX playing over it, but it can be heard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NebgBlLsey8
It would be great if you could work your magic and do an SFX-free rip of this song.
Thanks!
I would just like to add that your Paper Mario rip is amazing!! :)
I was specifically looking for the USFs, since I'm assuming those MP3s are the same as the ones I have, where they 'normalised' the music, the trouble is, that the different versions of Siege on Bowser's Castle are different volumes.
I'm looking to record the individual Toad Town Variations without the regular Toad Town music in the background. I don't know if this can be done via USFs, and if not I'm happy to use audio logging in PJ64. Does anyone have any advice?
I assume you mean something like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kIu5EEsefw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaMhhdoYqPU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VG7PJRynZI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVbBGky4X_4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEbLTEg4cC8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jadrTWJWj4g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzsSmaLDsys
I don't think that's all of them... but here's how I did it.
I outputted the main 'Toad's Town' USF, and all these 'variations' in separate wave files (all at the same sample rate -- I used the original USF sample rates).
I then used Audacity, and for each variation, I had the main Toad's Town track, and the variation, in the same file. Then for either one of them (but only one) I used the 'Invert' function, to invert the amplitude, so that one of them is negative, and... basically: Toad's Town + Toad's Town + Variation = Variation + 2 x Toad's Town (which is a much louder Toad's Town with a quiet variation) ... BUT... if you invert one of them, you get: Toad's Town - Toad's Town + Variation = just 'Variation'.
I did this kind of thing with these as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7242KiaYbkw&feature=plcp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXv7br0qVSg&feature=plcp
Yes I know it's possible with USFs, directly, using some kind of hex editing or something... but still, it works.
Wow! Those are awesome - exactly what I was trying to figure out how to do! Thanks for the reply. It'll save me a lot of trouble.
Does anyone know what happened over at Brawl Custom Music? The site's been down for a few days now..?
Also, I've found two track variations for Paper Mario that aren't in the USFs: 1. Dry Dry Desert (Oasis) 2. Toad Town Tunnels (Near Shiver City Pipe) ROM hacking is a bit beyond my abilities, but I'll try to do Audio Logging with PJ64 and see if I can get good quality rips of these two songs.
Yeah, that Dry Dry Desert Oasis has come up multiple times in discussion... there's also something about Merluvlee having the same tune as something else but with different instruments or something.
Also, BrawlCustomMusic was (apparently) hacked and everything was wiped off, and it's slowly being rebuilt. I have all the BRSTMs and stuff backed up, and soneek has the other parts, such as php scripts, and stuff, backed up. I have meanwhile, uploaded a few videos on the channel, the 2 recent ones using the Rainbow Road 'remake' that Dutchie made, and that mash-up of "Powerful Mario" and "Metallic Mario", and hopefully I (as BrawlBRSTMs) haven't revealed to much, if Dutchie knows what I mean :P
you ask me how i did it, right? well, you know it dont you?
btw, if have seen my other post [about starpower theme], the 5.96 seconds is EXCLUDING the stupid piece of silence that Lame encoder likes to add at the beginning of the song
ohwell, i just imported a sequence from wing cap theme and metal cap theme into a super mario 64 fl studio template, muted some channels and fused them together, like a DJ
No, it's shared between a few people... but not everyone.
Basically, it's the 'official' YouTube account of Brawl Custom Music ... and only certain people have access to it, mainly staff members, i.e. moderators and admins of the site.
You apparently have a complete rip of Paper Mario? That was what I was looking for for years! I had other rips in the past, but they weren't even complete!
Oh, and fun fact: Not even half the songs in the game are in the OST! Not even half of the songs used in the game are in the OST!
And I think Paper Mario has nearly 200 used songs, I think. Your complete rip has around 400 unused songs, some of them copies, some of them fast versions that end at a point.
I just want to know how to convert the USFs without them being filesizey?
Specifically the version I was looking for had about 5-6 variations of Siege on Bowser's Castle, which slippyToad (who originally told me about it) gave me a few days ago, but I've downloaded the preliminary thing as well.
I was aware of that, but I don't think the oasis music is anywhere around here. Or a full version of the Toad Town Tunnels shiver city pipe music. I tested the gamerip in Winamp.
EDIT: Oh, and there's an unused echoing version of the music that plays when you meet the Goomba Bros... Maybe they were going to play that music for a mini-boss that's underground?
The only other thing I noticed (before reading the text file <_<) was that any song with the same last 2 digits is related, by which I mean for example, 032, 132, 232, 332 are related. Some of them as I said are shorter versions, but then others are actually different variations, e.g. they're either faster, or with Go! Mario, Go!, the 2nd phase.
Still, no Oasis or Tunnels Shiver City.
Wasn't there also a song which was the same as a song that's already on there, but with different instruments? I think it was Merluvlee or something beginning with M.
Merluvlee and Merlon's themes were the same, but with different instruments. This is similar with Star Way Opens and Star Way Ascent, which are similar, but Star Way Ascent has the same instruments as Star Way Descent, and doesn't have that ambient noise at the end that Star Way Opens has.
And the rip has a song no one bother to rip before: The Mt. Lavalava intro fanfare (which one rip had it but there are no other rips I know of which had it) And the intro to "King of the Koopas" (Same here, but it was an intro with a variation of "Siege on Bowser's Castle) which sounded like the OST version of "King of the Koopas".
"Tunnels Shiver City" was on there once, but it didn't start at the beginning. It probably didn't loop as well, but I don't know because I didn't listen to all of the music fully. (That would be too much songs! But still, I couldn't find "Oasis".
This also had the versions of "Growing Beanstalk" and "Star Ship" without the intros, as well as the non-intro'd "Koopa Bros. Fortress", which actually has different instruments than the one with the intro, "Raphael the Raven" without the intro, and "Sanctuary!" without the intro. Those three were in a rip I had once.
It also had the OST version of "Nice to Meet You", but no "King of the Koopas OST", although the intro was there, like I said.
I did realize that the echoing versions of some songs did exist. This included "Hey You!", "Goomba Bros. Theme (like I said)", Jr. Troopa (I think) and maybe the battle music. I know the victory music has an echoing variation as well.
Jr. Troopa's battle music has a slowed-down version.
I also noticed that the Toad Town variations are not on there.
