NEZplug++ Installation and Channel Panning Help by fabio73 at 7:37 PM EDT on July 31, 2012
So I'm a first time user to NEZplug++, having used NotSo Fatso as my main NSF player for several years. I wanted to give NEZplug++ a try because the consensus seems to be that NEZplug++ provides the best NSF playback accuracy.
Now I know that NEZplug++ can be used as a stand-alone player or as a plug-in for Winamp; having to move the in_nez.dll file into the Winamp plug-ins folder. My first question is whether or not I need to place any other files provided in the NEZplug++ zip file into Winamp?
My next question is how do you perform channel panning using NEZplug++. In NotSo Fatso, you can easily do it within Winamp. Is the same functionality available with the NEZplut++ plug-in? If not, can you do it in the stand-alone executable? I know you can toggle the different channels on and off, but can't seem to figure out channel panning.
Nicely done SmartOne! So how did you go about hard coding the panning of the channels? Did you make the changes to certain files using the the NEZplug++ source code or did you decompile the in_nez.dll file and make the changes there?
I actually just downloaded the latest version of NSFPlay, v2.1, however, when I move the plug-in files into the Winamp plug-in folder, Winamp doesn't boot up. I double click my Winamp shortcut, it shows in Windows Task Manager that it's running, but after a few seconds, the Winamp exe just disappears. Any idea of what might be causing this? I'm running v5.63 of Winamp.

For some reason my retarded internet security/anti-virus thing decided that in_nez.dll was....... something. And deleted it. And now ever since that, EVERY time I download the RAR, firstly, the in_nez.dll just doesn't exist. It appears in the RAR file itself, but when I extract all the files, only the other 2 (the ini, and that NSF file) appear. And then for some reason, the RAR itself decides to "not be there" (i.e. it's suddenly deleted).
Are you going to tell me the most ironic situation in which my Anti Virus.... has caused a virus.... has happened? Or is SmartOne posting viruses that are so powerful that it can even corrupt Norton Internet Security 2012?
False positives... that's what antivirus software sometimes does. Just disable it and try downloading again, or add some kind of exception for in_nez in your software. And focus on your breathing.
I can't find where you manage exceptions and stuff :(
Having said that, I wanted to 'hear' what the stereo separation was like, however, is it any different to the "echo" effect on in_gep, which also acts as a stereo separation for GBS and NSF tracks?
Also, how come M3U playlists for NSF files don't work in foobar, but GBS ones do? The NSF files don't have the timing and title tags in the playlist.

I use NSFEs so I can't check but it should do, if they're formatted properly. Try opening the NSF, highlight all the items, right click properties, then click "Tools" and select "Reload info."
