Re: Resogun, the following files contain several RIFX headers per file:
audio_427.wav
audio_505.wav
audio_602.wav
audio_771.wav
audio_957.wav
audio_1123.wav

so the stream is corrupted where another file starts inside. I'm guessing these were extracted incorrectly, where a file was separated into parts, and the extractor just used the size in the RIFX header.

The others are some other format:
audio_275.wav
audio_322.wav
audio_340.wav

seems to be Wwise IMA, decode with ima_rejigger5 or wwise_ima_adpcm (or wait for someone to add support to vgmstream).
by marcusss at 11:52 PM EDT on March 23, 2017
The smaller ones ima might be small music or effects or something but yes i used the pck bms extractor and they all extracted.. maybe a new pck extracto is needed for this game's pck. I still have it.. the other music extracts ine just the above mentioned files. Weird hey.

With okami the hd game has a music folder and another folder with music called restart..but kibda similar or same music. Can't remember if the hd version had arranged ir better music or the same..

I will share the pck for you to take a look if you want as that pck.bms extractor might not be 100% correct for this case hey.

The weird thing is the 12 tracks or so that are 4ch in this case are adx not aix like the wii version. As far is know only program to split adx is aix2adx but these aren't aix :(

Would be great to split thise tracks somehow. I though hex edit might work but it is a giant mess and i'm an amateur. Can vgmtb split adx or files??
by hcs at 5:50 AM EDT on March 24, 2017
Would be better to just add > 2 channel ADX support to vgmstream, I'd think. They used to use AIX for that but no longer, apparently. Should be straightforward to add, he says, not volunteering.
by marcusss at 6:59 AM EDT on March 24, 2017
Thanks hcs for your insight and for the links and yeah I guess it might be good to have 4ch + adx added to vgmstream.

Here is 1 of those 4ch ADX similar to the old AIX but different hey.

Double Dragon Neon (X360 XBLA) [re-rip]

@marcuss - Castlevania HoD looping I'll fix soon.

>2ch ADXs do work for me, and I believe FFmpeg can demux into stereo ADXs if you decrypt the files first.

I toyed a bit with adding support to silence channels for cross-fading songs, that I think it's a better solution (also found in FF XII-2), but I couldn't think of a decent way to select which channels, other than maybe a mini helper file.
by marcusss at 5:30 PM EDT on March 24, 2017
@bnnm / hcs Thanks. I was interested in the ps3 version of HoD once i saw the dlc folder as a few new music (sotn remixes)are in there that sound really good :-)
. Lower bitrate overall compared with the xb360 xma audio version but still sounds good surprisingly.

I wonder if the xb360 ever had dlc music??

As for Okami HD, i can play the 4 ch adx like aix but the looping is messed up as they are 2 songs packed together in the 1 adx file so the songs stop abruptly.

After checking..the music is similar to the wii version maybe just louder?? But i don't think there is much change in the music since the original release...I was hoping the HD version would have some audio improvements :(

Thanks

Castlevania Harmony of Despair DLC music [XBLA]

Now that you mention it the ADX seems slightly different so looping may be borked, I'll check later.

Well, I managed to extract the contents of those .bin files from Nin2-Jump (thanks for letting me know about those BMS scripts, @bnnm!). Here's what I got:

Nin2-Jump XSB/XWB files

Unfortunately, I suck at extracting .xwb files, so this is as far as I can go, lol. I also gave extracting Omega Five a shot, but I haven't gotten anywhere with that either, I'm afraid. Well, that's it for now!

Here's some more PC stuff from me:

64.0

Giga Wrecker (Over 1GB of WAV files!)

Tadpole Treble (Sorry that a few voice clips are mixed in there... forgot to take them out before I made the upload)

BTW, about the Giga Wrecker rip, this is yet another game that uses Wwise audio, specifically .bnk archives. I got those .wav files using the Ravioli Extractor, but if anyone's interested, I also uploaded the original .bnk files. Interestingly, they also come with loop info, so that should come in handy for anyone who's interested in doing a better rip than the one I did:

Thank you so much! David Wise is a genius at composing tracks for these kind of games!

Too bad the tracks are not in a format that enables them to loop. By the way, i think the small files are the intros or small continuation to some of the bigger files, since some seem to have missing intros and stuff.
by marcusss at 7:44 PM EDT on March 29, 2017
Well they are the kind that loop when you have repeat enabled in foobar or winamp as they are like seemless so you don't notice when it restarts. Just enable repeat :-)

Yeah there were a couple of music intros that were like a few secs. Don't know why they separated them from the main songs unless the game had some intro variations.

Later I can just upload the whole ogg folder minus the sound effects?

You dont have too, i just noticed that the few final files are the ones that loop and contains the full track (without sections of the music cut out) so far i'm listening to the main title theme and it seems to loop fine.

So thank you again!

by ChillyBilly at 12:01 AM EDT on April 3, 2017
@Vector Harbor: It's a free "joke" game that got released for the April Fool's holiday. As far as looping goes, this is another game that runs on Unity, and while the music loops fine in-game, the files usually don't loop for me when ripped, unfortunately. Not sure why, but that's just how it is for me. Wouldn't mind getting a solution for that, myself...

Hey ChillyBilly, did you just copy MUS files from your Monster hunter: Frontier G rip off game disc or extract them somehow (be it a specific BMS script or some dedicated utility)? Also did you listen only to those 222/571 music tracks or SFX which are plain OGG?
If you have any clue what should be done to those remaining *.mus files to make them playable or at least decodable with some tool I'd be more than happy to hear these suggestions.
Cheers!

Edit: Wow Bnnm, this is quite a contribution, big thanks for such an assortment of different scores! Now I have so much to listen to and I can definitely put off some samples I was gonna post today.
They came from computer versions of Styx: Master of shadows & Sacred 3 DLCs BTW. The former is some mysterious and rarely used "Celt codec" from FSBs and the latter is headerless ADPCM as Alpha23 figured out. Both sets are already on pc.joshw.info but I can always post some select example files if you wanna take a look.

PS. In regards to MGS2 rip: did you split bgm_01 into bgm_01_split1 & bgm_01_split2? I mean if I listen to bgm_01_split1.genh then bgm_01_split2.genh and they sound alright I won't need bgm_01.genh anymore? Does it apply to bgm_04, bgm_12 and so on?

edited 3:50 PM EDT April 3, 2017
by bnnm at 4:52 PM EDT on April 3, 2017
MGS2 I did split those. The originals were marked as 4ch files but I think they are just alert/action variations and not true 4ch. I didn't check too closely so I also included them just in case, if they sound fine you can just remove them.

CELT I took a look a while back. The main issue is that documentation is iffy and CELT has evolved into Opus. Just determining what earlier variation FSB is using is hard enough for me.
by ChillyBilly at 11:24 PM EDT on April 3, 2017
Ultrafighter: As far as MHF goes, I literally just uploaded the entire sound folder, didn't even use any special methods. Wish I also knew how to make those unplayable files function, but I admittedly didn't notice them right away since most of the files I tried worked just fine. I'll look into them when I can, though.

I do have something to add though: The game actually has a second sound folder. I meant to upload it along with the first one, but unfortunately it slipped my mind (in fact, it wasn't until I saw your post that I remembered it!). Only thing is, these aren't .mus files like the first folder, but .vsnd/vsnp files, which.... I'm not familiar with. Not sure how many of those files are actually music, either. I'll see if I can upload the folder soon, though!
by vajuvaju at 10:33 PM EDT on April 4, 2017
@bnnm Yes, some of the "split" files are normal/alert versions of the same track, others are simply ambient sounds.

I could not get some of the .genh files to play with foobar2000 and latest vgmstream, though: bgm_01, 04, 12, 13, 25, 29, 34, 36, 40, 45, 55, 57, 58, 93. The rest work fine.
by bnnm at 1:57 PM EDT on April 5, 2017
Those are the non-split originals you can remove.
No real point to add support for them, you would hear both split tracks playing at the same time.
by Ultrafighter at 2:32 PM EDT on April 5, 2017
Hi bnnm, I found 5 unplayable WEMs in Age of empires: Castle siege rip but have already managed to decode them to PCM with help of IMA Rejigger. I expected them to convert to normal ADPCM files but strangely enough I got PCM wave ones instead. All those tracks are short ambiences so it's no big deal anyway.
I'm still curious though: were those unsupported *.wem files originally encoded using some variant of ADPCM or were they actually PCM from the very start? Can you provide some insight into the issue?
Goodbye!

edited 2:34 PM EDT April 5, 2017
by bnnm at 4:50 PM EDT on April 5, 2017
They use Wwise IMA, which should be supported later.
IMA_rejigger only decodes to PCM AFAIK.
by hcs at 7:00 PM EDT on April 5, 2017
It should be possible to rejigger those IMAs back to standard WAVE IMA, but most players ignore the samples per block field (Wwise IMA uses one less sample than would completely fill the block) so it comes out noisy or won't play at all. Maybe Microsoft's codec handles it properly, but I never did try it out.

I never released a version of ima_rejigger that output these standard-but-ill-supported files, the versions before 5 try to output IMA but I didn't understand the format properly at the time. And of course v5 just does PCM to keep it simple.

edited 7:01 PM EDT April 5, 2017
by bnnm at 2:14 PM EDT on April 6, 2017
I'm guessing MS/Wwise use those blocks with sample+history header mainly so they can decode discrete blocks, without extra memory (hence you need the header).

Though keeping a couple of shorts around doesn't seem like a big deal, if you are playing lots of SFX at the same time I guess it adds up.
Maybe also to protect against stream corruption (in MS's case)?

And I've got another surprise.... yet another new non-weekend rip!

Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 2016 (PS3)

^I had trouble ripping the Vita version of this title a while back, so I went for the PS3 version instead. Still took me freaking FOREVER to extract those PCKs, though. I used Ravioli Extractor to convert the audio to OGG format, but forgive me for leaving them with such generic filenames (otherwise you probably wouldn't see this rip posted for another week or two, lol). The files play fine at the very least, but the downside is that they don't loop. Still, if anyone cares to give an improved rip a try (preferably one with looping tracks), here are the archives:

Hey Knurek, huge thanks for Dust, Bastion & especially Transistor! Great work as usual!

@ChillyBilly: Have you had any breakthrough with the 2nd pack of files from Monster hunter: Frontier G? I've just found out VSND/VSPDs are containers for AT9 encoded audio (mostly SFX & VO tracks but there're some very short guitar chords or drumming pieces too).
Since I don't feel like separating the latter from the former (and I still have the bigger part of that bunch to listen through) I can upload those extracted *.at9 for you and let you pull some additional BGM tracks from that pack. Are you interested in searching for any music missing from your 1st upload? Maybe you'd like to unpack contents of those vsnd/vspd files yourself (I guess VGMToolBox should do the trick)? In any case lemme know if you're going to continue that MH ripping project or not.

Yooka-Laylee? More like Yucko-illme.

This is the type of game that NEEDS a bigger budget, or better general management. First two levels were great, very smooth sailing, now I'm just sad trudging my boots through the rest. I also hate the design, voices and attitudes of the MC and ugly rudolf bat. WHy can't I be a conformist and say it's good while discarding everything else, I hate having standards :(

I thought maybe it was collectatons that were all flawed, but then I saw this.

@Ultrafighter: As far as the MHF rip goes, you may as well post those extracted .at9 files yourself if you already did the work. As for the rest of the audio, I already upped the entire contents of both sound folders, so I can say with full confidence that there's no more to add. Though as far as those unplayable .mus files are concerned.... well, I've honestly been too busy with other stuff to refocus on that right now, and it may be a good while before I get back to it. Therefore, if you or anyone else wants to take a whack at it in the meantime, be my guest. I'll still look into it myself when I get the chance, though!

@ChillyBilly: In case you still have those VSNDs you can use VGMToolBox to get AT9s, simply go to Misc. tools -> Extraction tools => Generic and choose Advanced cutter / Offset finder. There select RIFF style header from dropdown menu on the right (the option you need is on the very bottom of the list) and click Load button; you can also change Output file extension from ".wav" to ".at9". Then you should merely drag and drop *.vsnd archives to "Files to search" field and everything else is to be done automatically, you'll even get a folder per an audio archive.
I guess conversion of ATRAC9 encoded tracks is an easy task for you? Of course if you wish I can upload my own *.at9 files, I got them using Novasoft extractor (I compared results of unpacking process using Nova & VGMT and they're identical anyway; I only tested ToolBox on 2 biggest files though). Well if you have any other questions never hesitate to ask, I believe I can provide even more assistance if you ever need it!

@Bnnm: Thnx for all releases, especially Resogun (I'm very eager to finally hear it myself) & Oddworld! Your work is really appreciated: not only I can revisit some neat scores now but I can also try and find any exclusive tracks missing from Limbo on PS3 or Abe`s oddysee: New 'n' tasty for PC. Big thanks once again, keep it up!

See you all in a bit!

I've reuploaded both NieR: Automata and Yooka-Yaylee rips. Both use original WEM files now.

No real need to download them again though.
by marcusss at 5:44 PM EDT on April 14, 2017
@bnnm When i was ripping resogun before i noticed one of the songs ..about 4mins long, is not in the soundtrack so is good to have the extra track. Were the rest ima or something as i had a couple of corrupted ogg when i tried ripping the oggs previously

All we need now is for nex machina to hurry its release on pc to rip the music since ps4 will take ages before it is ripped.

Good work !

The IMAs are sfxs and the corrupted Oggs are mini truncated versions of other existing files for pre-loading I believe.
I added support for those too but they are just ~1sec long.

One more I had lying around:
Clannad HD (PC/Steam exclusive) [don't forget Gameexe.ini has the loop points; doesn't include movies since the .nwa also had the songs]

@Knurek

Does the new Shovel Knight music sound like it does in-game? I remember trying to rip it myself with some...nah, can't have been an nsf-file, can it?

Anyway, my stereo rip just sounded strange and not at all like it did in the game.

Either way, thanks for the upload.

Edit: Oh, it's mono? And mp3 codec. Would it be possible to make it sound like it does in the game?

I clearly have no taste, as I am committing myself to finishing Yooka-Laylee, and actually find it a challenge and total time sink. I must compulsively collect everything, and I don't care too much how terrible the camera is. I just put up with it.

Couple more PC rips to add:

Eldritch Hunter

Flat Kingdom

There's also a few other games I ripped that I had some certain issues with:

PC

A Rose in the Twilight (Like the Vita version I posted a while back, this game's music comes in Wwise .bnk archives. Unfortunately, I couldn't extract/convert these either, not even with programs like QuickBMS or Ravioli. I was wondering if you guys might be able to find a solution for this one?)

Wii

Jett Rocket (Comes in these ".ogl" files. I haven't had any luck with these either, but I know these can be played SOMEHOW, because I saw through a hex editor that these files use the Vorbis codec)

Jikkyou Powerful Major League 2009

^Now about this MLB Power Pro game.... I actually DID manage to rip this one (included with demuxed movies), but I'm not sure if this is a complete rip. This game's music comes in a "strbgm.bin" file that I managed to extract using hcs's TMNT 3: Mutant Nightmare extractor (coincidentally, that game also used the same type of archive!). While I did succeed in getting a fair number of dual-file .dsps, I don't think it's complete since the combined size of the .dsps just doesn't match up with the .bin file, which strikes me as odd. So I just want to confirm if this was a thorough rip or not.... I of course included the .bin file just in case. BTW, I've also been checking out some of the other Wii Power Pro games, and they use similar archives for music as well, only those other games use a ".vas" extension for their files. I'll post an example one of these days....

Some XMA2+ATRAC3 GENHs:
Infinite Undiscovery (X360)
Star Ocean 4 (X360)
Resonance of Fate (PS3)
Resonance of Fate (X360)

Missing movie audio as I can't locate/decrypt them.
The tri-Ace format is similar but each game has it own variation, so I just did GENHs (check the bms). SFX files contain multiple streams but is for 1-stream music only.
I think bxaimc was going to add real support but meanwhile I'll post and get rid of them, you can remove the GENH part later.
RoF battle tracks a have two crossfading variations inside (2ch + 2ch), for now they'll play at the same time.
by Knurek at 12:54 AM EDT on April 17, 2017
@ChillyBilly: A Rose in the Twilight files are encrypted, seems to be a simple one, as the 0x424B4844 header is substituted by 0xd44474b4 in all of them.
I've seen the Jett Rocket OGL files used in other Shin'en games, no idea how to convert them to something playable though. :\

New PC rips:

Darksiders - Warmastered Edition (2016-11-29)(Vigil)(Kaiko)(Nordic)
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet (2012-04-17)(Shadow Planet)(Microsoft) (rerip to original format)
Kathy Rain (2016-05-05)(Clifftop)(Raw Fury)

XMA2
Storm (XB360)

The game only has 4 music tracks. 1 for each season but not bad at all:-)
Interestingly the Spring.xma track shows up as 285kps @ 95999Hz ! Nice track

Also for those who loved the Resogun release I have uploaded it as well since it has a few extra awesome songs. I normally wouldn't upload an OST but this one rocks

Resogun

The recent gamerip is great so this ost just has some extra tracks which compliment the rip I guess :P

@Knurek: Enormous thanks for Full throttle: Remastered, both Shadowrun titles & Gemini rue! Also special thnx for Cannon fodder 3 although it's not quite what I was expecting.
Of course CF3 score is still nice but it doesn't remind me neither Contra: Shattered soldier nor Crimsonland soundtrack. That dozen of tracks really reminds me of... typical instrumental rock original scores for extreme sports VGs from late 90s - early 2000s (2Xtreme and Gravity games bike: Street. Vert. Dirt, then Dave Mirra BMX Challenge & Downhill domination, also Nitrobike with Toxic grind, finally Freestyle motocross: McGrath vs Pastrana + a bunch of compositions from MotoGP: Ultimate racing technology 2-3 for PC... but I'm afraid I can list those games for quite some time so I'll stop here).
In any case I'm thankful for all those recent rips you provided, just keep doing what you do best!

@Marcusss: Do you really have to use such BMSs that transmogrify XMA2 stuff nowadays? I guess you should better post any unplayable *.xma samples in thread dedicated to VGMstream and I'm sure they'll be implemented at some point.
When it comes to AlphaTwentyThree's *.bms scripts though the first and the best place to look for them is obviously XeNTaX forum. Anyway here's a mirror of that file if you still want to use it.

Take care!

@marcusss - for those .ps3audio are ATRAC3 (in a X360 game? how curious), you can use the .bms I posted before to make GENH.
A bunch I tried are 6ch but you may have to tweak.
by Ultrafighter at 2:47 PM EDT on April 20, 2017
@Marcusss: You can always set XMA_transform.bms to look for contained XMAs, simply change line #11 from "set ENABLE_SCAN 0" to "set ENABLE_SCAN 1" but no one guarantees there won't be any bugs in search results. I remember trying this option on music.xwb from Crackdown and QuickBMS somehow extracted quite a few XMAs. The catch was that each of them was almost as big as original sound bank so something presumably went really wrong in the unpacking process.
@Bnnm: It's not absolutely one-of-a-kind case, Ford racing: Off road for PC had numerous BGM sets: PCM & IMA ADPCM WAV ones, then AT3+ and probably WMA variants of the very same tracks. There's also quite a mix of different unexpected codecs in Mayhem 3D on PS3.
Bye!
by marcusss at 7:56 PM EDT on April 20, 2017
Thanks guys. Thanks or the tips Ultrafighter

* on a side note. Someone..I forgot. uploaded Dead or Alive 4 for XB360. I tried it today with the latest VGMStream. the AIX files play but the XWB do not... Hmm

Welp, time for this week's new ripping issue! This time, I'm trying to get the music for Akai Katana for the Xbox 360. But the thing is, this game's data comes in multiple .bin files, so it took me a while to figure out which ones contains the sound. Unfortunately, I'm now having trouble extracting said .bin files. I tried looking for BMS scripts for this game, but the only one that came closest to working for me was this one, which was originally intended for the PC version of Deathsmiles. While the script did extract the XWB files, it was in an incomplete manner (those XWBs literally contained NO data in them) so I humbly request help from you guys once again! I've got the necessary .bin files right here:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2lMV7NovfEOd1J0NXg3R3lvaGs

^I think the biggest files are actually movie data, but I'm not sure (like I said, the BMS script I used did a sloppy extraction job). Thanks in advance to anyone who can lend a hand....
by bnnm at 1:12 PM EDT on April 21, 2017
@ChillyBilly - use this bms and rename last 2 to .wmv
I'll add Mr.Driller Drill Land Cstr later.

@marcusss - DoA4 looks like an xwb_split bug (already fixed I think).
They can be fixed using this .bms (paging Knurek).

@Knurek/ChillyBilly - Jett Rocket OGL use custom Vorbis, I think I can add it. I saw FAST Racing NEO does too, any others?

Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 10

Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 11 Chou Ketteiban

Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 12

PS1

Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu '95

PS2

Kinnikuman Muscle Grand Prix Max

Kinnikuman Muscle Grand Prix Max 2: Tokumori

^As you can see, I've been on Power Pro fever lately, heh. I ripped those games using the Mutant Nightmare extractor I mentioned earlier. I still think some of those rips might be incomplete, but that's why I included the .bin files in case anyone knows how to get any missing audio. As for '95, that's the only PS1 Power Pro game I was able to get playable audio for (the other ones I tried sounded garbled as heck.... might try uploading one of those one of these days for you guys to check out).

@bnnm: Thanks once again for your help! I managed to properly extract the XWB files and demuxed the movies. Only problem is that I had trouble splitting the XWBs. Well, here ya go, anyway:
