It's been mentioned a few times over the years, but might as well mention it again since I ran across it when checking my local mirror:

http://pc.joshw.info/f/Fall%20of%20Light%20(2017-09-29)(RuneHeads)(1C)%5bPC%5d.7z is broken. The upload may have been incomplete.

If marcusss still has the original around, it'd be worth re-uploading.

Mister Mosquito by JomSpoons at 7:51 PM EDT on September 28, 2019
Hey, I've been looking to get the Mister Mosquito soundtrack, and it appears that the rip uploaded to this archive is played at an incorrect speed. The rip here plays at 48000Hz, while from my testing, in-game they seem to play at 44100Hz

For example, here is a song from the rip (Converted to MP3 for uploading purposes)
and here is the same song played in-game (This was just recorded using PCSX2 and Audacity, so it has sound effects and such still in it.)

I can confirm that the PCSX2 music playback is at the correct speed as I own a physical copy of the game and that's the same way it sounds running off my PS2.

That said, it might be worth fixing / reripping. Thank you to everyone who've made this whole archive possible!

Couldn't one just use txth to force its playback rate in the meantime until it is reripped
by JomSpoons at 9:50 AM EDT on September 29, 2019
@marcusss Yes, I changed the playback to 44100Hz manually for my personal purposes, but I wanted to bring this up regardless because I think it's important we make sure all the rips here are as accurate as possible.

Cartoon Network Match Land

Dice Mage 2

Dizzy Knight

Treasure Buster

iOS

Slayin

Swap Heroes

^All these soundtracks were done by Matt Creamer, who's probably best known for the Retro City Rampage and Shakedown Hawaii soundtracks. It's all some really fun stuff!

Also, in case it was overlooked, I did some rips for the PS2 Pro Yakyuu Spirits titles a few pages back. Check them out if you can!
by AnonRunzes at 12:32 PM EDT on September 29, 2019
@JomSpoons - what i'd do if i noticed something's wrong in an existing set that's currently available on vgm.hcs64.com i have is to do a "re-rip" of sorts that trumps out that set in terms of "quality" or "accurate-ness" of the rip by going to the Contribute page, upload the newly-made set, and (assuming i didn't delete the set after it's done uploading) hope that someone who drives this whole set site doesn't lose the set i had to go out of my way to upload "by accident" just days after the set has been uploaded in the first place. or refuses to add it into the set site because "it isn't playable".

what i'm saying is i believe you can do the re-rip.
by JomSpoons at 2:09 PM EDT on September 29, 2019
@AnonRunzes I tried for several hours yesterday attempting to extract the music from Mister Mosquito to no avail. I don't have much experience with code either so I don't know if I could rip them from hex or anything. I'll look into it more but Mister Mosquito has proven really difficult in terms of audio extraction for me.
by AnonRunzes at 3:18 PM EDT on September 29, 2019
coding isn't needed to extract CD/DVD discs. IsoBuster should do most of the work for you(its interface is easy to figure out) so long as you have a CD/DVD drive with your disk being put right into that drive.

Strange choice I know, but the BGM was pretty catchy.
Mister Mosquito by JomSpoons at 2:14 PM EDT on October 28, 2019
Ok, so I've been trying to still rip Mister Mosquito's music correctly. I extracted the music files from my copy of the game using IsoBuster as suggested earlier.

They are all contained in a directory called "ADPCM" in the subfolder "INT". All the music files are in .int format which I've been having trouble figuring out how to convert from. Foobar + vgmstream plugin can't play it, and most software I tried is incapable of converting them into something more than unrecognizable staticy mess.

The most luck I've had is with VGMToolbox (r1040) using the "Create/Edit/Extract GENH" option. I'm able to recognizably convert the music, however, the playback speed is all screwed up, playing way slower than it's supposed to and sounding really stretched. Here is a sample of what it sounds like.

To be quite honest, I don't really know what I'm doing. I probably have some incorrect settings or something, so if anyone has any tips I'd appreciate it. Here are the settings I'm using for conversion.

create .txt file alongside the entirety of INT folder, nename said file you created to .int.txth, then check here.

sorry for this lack of explanation here but i can't be arsed to expand upon this one.
by JomSpoons at 8:09 PM EDT on October 28, 2019
@AnonRunzes Thank you for the guidance, this helps a lot. I'm still having trouble as I don't know what to add to my TXTH file to make the music play without sounding stretched.

I found that using a Tempo Shift DSP in Foobar2000 with the SoundTouch Algorithm at Tempo: + 100.00% gets it playing at what sounds to be the right speed, but using external modifiers isn't ideal of course.

I assume it has something to do with sectors or something like that but I've not had any luck thus far. Here is what I've got in my TXTH file so far.

codec = PSX
sample_rate = 44100
channels = 1
num_samples = data_size
loop_flag = auto

Sky Gunner from PixelArts, a PS2 game.

by JomSpoons at 9:22 AM EDT on October 30, 2019
Ok, I finally finished reripping Mister Mosquito! The GENH files were ripped using VGMToolbox r1026 (since the raw data option in the latest build seems to be glitched) and the WAV files were ripped using PSound 2.01. .INT.txth file is included for direct playback of the INT files if you wish to do so. Big thank you to AnonRunzes for their help.

I uploaded the rerip to josh.info, but just in case, here's a mirror I made.

The Touhou 5 rip doesn't include the remixes of all the previous PC-98 games that make use of the 6th sound channel usually used for sound effects.

Would it be okay for me to update it by adding some s98s of those tracks (made either through logging on Neko Project II or using pmd2s98)?

For rips from Macintosh games, is it okay to convert the file to MacBinary to make it possible to rip audio in the resource fork as GENH with vgmtoolbox?

Also, what sampling rates can be stored in GENH? Because in classic Mac sound files, the sampling rate is stored as a 32-bit (16:16) fixed-point number, and the game I'm trying to rip has songs with sampling rates of ~22254.54546... (0x56EE8BA3) and ~11127.27272... (0x2B7745D1).
by almendaz at 4:27 AM EST on March 6, 2020
Thank you for answer. Late but not never. I was just worried that my uploads did not appear on server; also because of new (?) upload limit of ~0.2 GiB for rips.

Also, if memory serves me right, you could put any number (4 bytes) as frequency, and vgms will play it fine, o.c. I did not test the ENTIRE range of continuous values. For better programming, use TXTH, inside of which you can write any math operation for the sampling rates; I do not know about float values, as sampling rate is unsigned integer (uint32).

2) The club also has pretty tiny yet neat score which is lossless on PC but really lossy on X360. I'd still appreciate it if someone checked out PS3 port, if not for presumably higher quality then for alternate mixes / versions of those tracks or even unique compositions. If Blur (racerz) is rippable and there's even a BMS dedicated to 007 Blood stone then it'd be no problem to get a hold of BGMs.
A pair of tracks I upped are absolutely swell but there's much more to this soundtrack: dark ambience and driving beats aren't all what it's got to offer us!
Oh and I almost forgot the most important part! This original soundtrack's by Richard Jacques (he scored Western racing games or shooters as well as select Sonic spinoffs) and a few additional compositions are courtesy of Jesper Kyd (!);

Hello, first time posting in this thread. This thread is just for streaming music ripped from games and not soundtracks, right? And the files should be left in their original format when possible? Just checking. In any case, I have a few uploads.

Vampire Hurts (Windows) - An obscure Windows JRPG about a boy who moves to the city of Casketville that's inhabited by vampires. BGM was in its own loose WAV folder.

Tenerezza (Windows; Xbox version is already up). Personally I think the Windows OGGs sound better, but they're also shorter because they're meant to loop I think. Names are tagged according to their matching track in the official soundtrack.

Millennium Racer: Y2K Fighters (Dreamcast). This is a somewhat obscure Russian Windows racing game that was also going to be released on the Dreamcast, but never made it to release (was recently leaked). Music is Redband audio, headerless RAW (tracks 4-10). Track 4 RAW also exists as a WAV in the sound folder in much higher quality.

Ugh, the technical sound quality (lol quantity) of Final Fantasy VII Remake is worse than most games on the PlayStation, including Final Fantasy VII. For some reason someone thought they just had to use ATRAC. Which could probably be fine, except you can tell that the source tracks were already low-quality.

Frequency response cuts off at 18 kHz, and there's tons of noise.

Don't worry, Square Enix. No one will notice. Who pays attention to their senses anyway.
by almendaz at 2:27 PM EDT on May 17, 2020
Well, the noise would be more of a problem than the 'frequency response cut' (band threshold), which in itself is not an indicator of sound quality, except for captured audio/recordings.

I'd take the Final Fantasy XIII-ses 160 kbps MP3 or Final Fantasy XV's CRI HCA over our year-2020-state-of-the-art, trailblazing Final Fantasy VII Remake Sony proprietary, avoid-those-extra-CRI-licensing-fees ACTRAC9.

For a split second, I had hope that the ports might not use the ATRAC files we got for PS4. Then I came to my senses. Make Microsoft fork over the ATRAC licensing fees (as a small part) in exchange for getting the blockbuster title published on Microsoft's platforms. Cha-ching.

Even if there were newly encoded files for a port, the root problem is probably the mastering of the source files. Square Enix's trained monkey mastering technician prioritizes playing politics, as one does in a corporate environment, over producing quality (dynamic range). Don't want that next trained monkey to get the job, after all.

Just so people aren't mislead:

SQEX uses an internal sound engine, that is perfectly capable of using CRI's HCA, ATRAC9, XMA, MP3, or whatever codec they want in a game, for one or multiple songs.
by MarkGrass at 8:10 PM EDT on May 17, 2020
@SmartOne
Final Fantasy VII Remake was built using Epic's Unreal Engine 4; 16/24bit lossless PCM audio is encoded with the ATRAC9 codec during packaging by default, when the target platform is PlayStation 4. Conversely, XMA is used for XBOX platform targets.

That said, I sincerely doubt Sony is going to profit from ATC3 -> XMA conversion, because it's not practical in the Unreal Engine when targeting home consoles. I mean, technically, it may be possible (XMA on PS4), but it would create a licensing nightmare for all companies involved. My guess is that the XBOX version will likely use XMA from original source assets.

I just spent four semesters learning Unreal 4. Yes, CRI middleware/ADX2 is available for home consoles, but at a very high premium (almost $10,000 per month that the game is on sale).

For the 18khz cutoff, blame Epic. Licensing, blame CRI. Video game politics and everything else, blame Square-Enix.

I wonder if that's the case for Trials of Mana? It's an Unreal Engine game with PS4, PC, and Switch versions.

There hasn't have been any uploads of the soundtrack from any of the versions though.

Whoops. I forgot to upload it

@ChillyBilly, are you around, my man? Was doing a search on the Pro Yakyuu Spirit series and by searching the thread I saw you had a blast going through the series music! Your last post is from 2019, hope you're still checking here :)
by Nyarlathotep at 3:42 AM EDT on June 3, 2020
I noticed that some of the audio files were missing from the Vampire Night rip, I think these are everything that's currently missing. They were located in the "ADX" folder on the game disc.

Also, it seems that the Deka Voice rip I posted about a year ago was never added, was there something wrong with it?

USF artist corrections by hcs at 1:12 PM EDT on June 10, 2020
I bought the newly printed Glover soundtrack and noticed two things:

1) They use the titles from the USF rip, which iirc I made up. So that's kind of amusing. (or was there a sound test I'm forgetting?)
2) They have different artists, which are probably correct given that they got the rights: Rob Lord, Paul Weir and Mark Bandola. That should be corrected.

When I added tags to that rip many years ago I was just digging through strings in the ROM and it looks like I got the names for Allister Brimble and Richard Joseph from the adjacent Sound Effects credit (ref MobyGames).

I uploaded a new 7z (via the uploader) with the corrected tags, glad to finally get this right. The release date might still be wrong, MobyGames lists 1998-11-04 instead of 1998-10-31.

Another I think I probably have wrong is Zool, I got "Takaheshi Yamazuke" from some random web site, but I haven't found the credits yet to do it properly.

Raido has Ichiro Nemoto listed for music for Zool, and includes screenshots in a RAR at the bottom. MobyGames says Ichiro Nemoto worked on music for Pandora Box Super Famicom titles, so this cross-checks. They have 郎 instead of 朗, the latter seems consistent with the screenshot. I don't know anything about how equivalent these Japanese names are, I'll be writing it "Nemoto" anyway.

Ok, both changed and uploaded. I also corrected usf.hcs64.com. Glad to finally put this right.

I went looking for a soundtest in Glover, didn't find one but was surprised to find you can access the credits right from the Options menu. Oops!

Credit to dormouse, who named Nemoto back in 2013.

Amazing research, hcs! Actually, I know of a similar story, where Capcom named the soundtrack for Demon's Crest for the SNES on the franchise sound box with the names created by the tagger SquareTex and used on the snesmusic.org rip.

It's really great to see this dedication turn into something official. Congratulations!
by hcs at 6:52 PM EDT on June 14, 2020
It's pretty generic stuff here, mostly "The Story" and "The Conclusion", which I think I modeled on the titles during the opening cutscene ("The Castle", "The Wizard", etc), and the "Lobby, Level 1" phrase.

Now we just need a Pilotwings 64 soundtrack! I'll even buy it on vinyl if necessary! Doesn't seem likely, though, the reason we're getting this for Glover now is Piko bought the rights.

I already uploaded these via vgm.hcs64.com but they didn't make it to Josh W's server yet, so leaving these here just in case:

Gear Fighter Dendoh (2001-04-26)(Natsume)(Sunrise)(Bandai)[PS1].7z

Gundam Battle Assault 2 (2002-07-17)(Natsume)(Bandai)[PS1].7z

Dino Crisis should be on joshw archives waiting for approval, here's a link for now:
Dino Crisis (1999-07-01)(Capcom Production Studio 4)(Capcom)[PS1]
Many thanks to AceK for his help, this one is a team work.

Can someone reupload many of the mobile games from nintendo? The download on joshw's archive is quite old as new updates added new songs.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp misses many furniture and amenities songs. Some updates also added new songs, like a few new rain variations. There was also a fishing event where you caught cheep cheeps and bloopers with a mario-fanfare when you caught one.

Mario Kart World Tour has a few new tracks with new music

I thought Dr. Mario is also missing the latest songs.

Super Mario Run misses a few fanfares, but not sure if the original uploader just didn't add these

If someone can provide me with links how to extract these myself, but extracting mobile games is still new territory to me.
