@nothingtosay: Sword Maniac tracks should be included in the X-Kalibur 2097 archive (they should start with 2).
by Ultrafighter at 5:02 AM EDT on October 5, 2013
Hi Knurek, I definitely appreciate all your hard, diligent and obviously pretty time-consuming work dedicated to reuploading (and organizing as well as making your own rips) such massive amounts of data
but where did entire R directory of X360 music archives go? It just looks like you bunch-reupped everything going into that category half a month ago but strangely there`s not a single sign of R folder in its entirety while there surely were quite a few rips from games with titles starting with "R"! That simply implies RE/BH, RR, maybe also Agarest series and those are just a very few well-known franchises I can think of right now. Or is it possible that you just didn`t make that folder visible/public after you were finished with reposting them?
by Knurek at 3:19 PM EDT on October 6, 2013
Whoops, had to miss the dir somehow. Uploading as we speak.
by Krude at 11:01 PM EDT on October 6, 2013
That archive is truly awesome in the original sense of the word. An impressive array of games listed there.

Is there any chance that Shadows of the Damned could be included? It boasts some of Akira Yamaoka's best work, up there with his Silent Hill soundtracks.

It's possible to get a new key in Hoot Player? I always get a error when I put my mail adress here: http://dmpsoft.s17.xrea.com/hoot/getkey.html

I want to rip some arcade games... :(

See ya

EDIT: And I want to download the last version of Hoot... and it's detected as a virus... Good -_-

http://www.sendspace.com/file/2mux6m

I was gonna see if I could rip Biohazard 2's music from the Dreamcast... but it turns out that the music is sequenced with the sequence and sample data not being in an mlt file. Has anybody ever attempted to make dsf's from this game?

Also before I even think about attempting, is the ps2 version of Romancing Saga streamed or sequenced?
by RukarioGyiyg996 at 12:16 AM EST on November 5, 2013
The error message is for when the key has already been sent to that email, if you never got the key then you'll have to wait until it has expired.

As for viruses, if you're using avast! and it's "Evo-Gen" then ignore it as it's a MASSIVE false positive that's been plaguing several legitimate clean programs for quite a while now.
by Dais! at 11:45 PM EST on November 5, 2013
Given the Minstrel Song battle tracks where Sekito just unleashes, I assume that either a number of songs in the game are streaming or it uses something along the lines of SMT Nocturne to play shorter streams over regular sequences (which I doubt).

Ito and Sekito also did Dawn of Mana together, and the set in the psf2 folder weighs in at 440mb, so I'm guessing RSMS is definitely streamed. But I've been wrong about such things before...

@Dais!

Ok, thanks. I was thinking of ripping the music from it, although nothing might come of it...

Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol. 04 - Space Harrier (2003-09-25)(Sega)(-)(Sega).7z

All of the GENH's in this are 44100 which is incorrect, it needs to be 48000.

Also the loop points aren't even present either so the song just abruptly ends...

I'm working to fix this right now as we speak though.

Bloodrayne & Bloodrayne 2, PC Versions, US(EXTRACTED FROM COPIES THAT WERE INCLUDED WITH COLLECTOR'S EDITIONS OF THE MOVIES, yucckkkhhh...)

http://www.sendspace.com/file/4hp8u3

The first game's music had no loop points so samplelist.txt is not included. The second game, however, does have some music that had loop points, so the samplelist.txt is inclused. The music in the PC versions are MP3's at 128kbps, but at least they're 44khz, instead of the 22khz adpcms the console version's used...

Hello Knurek, huge thanks for bringing such massive and seemingly bottomless goldmine of soundtracks ripped from PC (versions of) games back to its normal working state that quickly! However something bothers me a little bit so that would you mind telling me what exactly the currently active rendition of your (or maybe the whole HCS64 team`s) policy in regards to processing PCM Wave audio says? Attempts to figure out its specific statements the practical way just confused me way more than I originally was. Back in the day the policy regarding any audio files originally encoded using PCM WAV as well as lossless transcoded movie streams originated from otherwise undemuxable videos (Bink ones but maybe there`s some more) was as simple as compressing them with your chosen codec (FLAC or APE later on).

Now different approaches to solving all the same problem simply make me wonder if there`s any standard anymore. Sometimes those WAVs are left as they`re (let "Dead to Rights (2002-08-19)(Namco Hometek)(Namco)" from Xbox archives or more importantly "Asura's Wrath (2012-02-21)(CyberConnect2)(Capcom)" from X360 ones be examples of two situations described above) but at times such tracks are treated as Redbook audio from PSX / SAT / some pretty old PC games and the latter solution seems to be one of the worst of all the possible ones to me. While I understand that it`s not me who runs an entire project, keeps it alive and hastily fixes all the problems related to its usage and therefore you can just rightfully disregard any of my suggestions I`d simply say that some new tags in archive titles clearly stating that contained MP3s were transcoded from lossless source would come in handy when dealing with any sets where it`s not utterly clear if the files provided were actually preserved as lossless as it could get or they`re some custom format conversions. I mean it goes without saying that presuming PSX, SAT or previous century PC games would use MP3 in the 1st place IE on game discs is quite weird (and additionally I can`t even imagine how many such sets you`d have to rename if you really chose the route I`m suggesting) but in case of original Xbox or PS2 titles some might grab anything offered in the sets that interest them, witness some files, majority or even 100% of them being encoded in MP3 but in the end not even realize that those`re not 1:1 original files (well almost unless some header and such manipulation was positively required for playability / decoding reasons). Don`t consider this an insult of any kind, it`s just that I`m a sucker for proper sorting of any files not only VG musics. Maybe I`m the person who`s concerned about the discussed problem (if there`s even one) the most just because I want to be absolutely sure about such things and prevent such mistakes as placing any of such lossy conversions of PCM audio among the actual streams which`re still in their undisputed majority on your archives` servers.

So what do you think about adding an additional tag (like [transcoded] or [PCM] or [original PCM] or even [PCM to MP3]) to a few PS2 / Xbox titles I can list here right away (and any others you treated the same way if you`d be so kind)? I can understand if my personal problem (if one can even call such slight inconvenience a trouble of any kind) proves to be insignificant if viewed by an outsider and just doesn`t seem to be a valid reason for creation of some fresh tag and more importantly doesn`t justify the effort needed to rename probably a big number of sets falling into the newly created category but I still hope that you`ll take some of my points into consideration. Even if you end up leaving that kind of highly suspicious yet still not convicted sets as they currently are I`ll be fine with that as it`s obviously up to you to decide how it`s to be done in your project.

So with all the best regards to you I`m finally over and out, he-he.

PS. Oh and speaking of those "BIK to WAV" cases I mentioned in the very beginning: now with sets including some actual originally lossless streams demuxed from videos (quite rarely), BIK audio demuxed with VGMT and older Wave images of sound coming from that type of vids thrown into one big pile it`d be nice to distinguish them somehow. If you agree to add yet another tag for the latter sets I`d be more than happy to point out as many such sets as I`m able to.

Alright. I extracted adx's from The King of Fighters Nests Collection, but every track has a duplicate in one or another archive. Should I upload everything (duplicates included) or sift out the extras to save space?
by Dais! at 10:17 PM EST on December 7, 2013
something just occurred to me, based on a thought I keep forgetting to post. Many already uploaded sets and sets that people might want have some kind of complication involved - perhaps they are known to be incomplete, or don't work with any traditional player/have to be converted, or are partially or completely duplicated in sets that already exist.

Would it be feasible to set up some kind of open web document via something like Google Docs, where people can contribute (wiki-style) to a set of notes about games covered by that document/directory? For example, I can't check right now whether the Xbox Castlevania: Curse of Darkness music is playable yet, but if it isn't, I could go into the document and create an entry for that game. Similarly, I might note on the PSF2 document that the current set for SMT3 Nocturne is incomplete due to the way the game streams music over sequenced tracks, or on the USF document I could point out that Mischief Makers isn't robustly tagged or timed for two loops (god, how many years have I been forgetting to fix that?).

Then every two weeks or every month or so, Knurek or somebody else could check the documents, fix any errors in the notes or the archive itself (and undo any vandalism), and then drop them in their respective directories. Some kind of sortable HTML table/spreadsheet would be ideal, of course, but even just a simple text file would work if we could agree on a common format for posting notes.

I don't know much about this stuff, so I'm just assuming that this could be done. The question is if there is a chance it will be done. I'd definitely try to contribute if it happened.

When is there going to be a VGM set of Snatcher on the Sega CD? Is it even possible to make at this point in time?
by dissident93 at 9:43 AM EST on December 9, 2013
not sure if it's lack of interest or something technical preventing it from being done, but try asking over at vgm.mdscene
by Kirishima at 8:47 PM EST on December 9, 2013
If the game has a soundtest mode, then there should be nothing stopping anyone from making a set. Otherwise, hacking the game would be the only way to make one...
by Level99 at 6:57 AM EST on December 11, 2013
Heyo. Silly noob here. First, thanks to all for maintaining this incredible collection of VGM.

I have a bunch of obscure windows/dos games with redbook audio. Which would be more preferred: an upload of the ripped music or an upload of the ripped image in-full so someone else can do a rip (probably more properly than I could)? Some possibly have other music besides redbook, I'm not sure as I've not been able to properly install about half of them.
by Knurek at 7:40 AM EST on December 11, 2013
ISO is the safest bet, if you have bandwidth issues, APS MP3s will do.
by Level99 at 1:30 PM EST on December 11, 2013
Understood. Bandwidth should not be an issue. Thanks!
by Alpha23 at 6:16 AM EST on December 12, 2013
Hey Knurek,

I wanted to upload some of my streamed rips to your server. However the direcory listing has changed. Can you tell me the new address or give me an FTP login?
Thanks. :)
by nothingtosay at 6:18 AM EST on December 18, 2013
I think Dais!'s suggestion is a very good idea. It'd be nice to know if something is playable or not and for people who have the knowledge of the games to say whether or not a set is missing music.
by Knurek at 7:33 PM EST on December 23, 2013
@Alpha23:

I've created an upload only account on the server (vgm-ssh.joshw.info), which files can be copied to using sftp.
The account is 'vgmupload' and password is 'vgmP@ssw0rd'.
There is a writable directory called 'uploads' where files can be written to.

Does this help?

I don't really like having 'rips' like these available, but it's not really like anyone is still doing proper GSF rips.
Some very nice tunes there, standouts are Advance Guardian Heroes, Eyeshield 21: Devilbats Devildays, Gensou Suikoden: Card Stories and Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon.
Files are perfectly playable with XMPlay + xmp-midi plugin, not sure how things work for foobar peeps though.

Enjoy.
by Dais! at 7:05 PM EST on December 24, 2013
ah, man, I've been meaning to do that ever since...well, less work for me, as always. Thanks.

I'm kind of surprised it only netted one more Yu-Gi-Oh game. I wonder exactly how many sound drivers were being used between the different branches of Konami.

You might want to put up Gunstar Super Heroes too, since there's an (apparently) unused track in a different section from most of the others.

As an alternative to open documents, it would probably work about as well to make a wiki, but that raises the questions of who would host it, using what software, and whose responsibility it would be to maintain.

Haunting Ground (PS2) (My very first)

These are all the sequenced tracks. These tracks are also dynamic so different variations of certain tracks layer on each other. (Sly Hunter & Warped Obsession) I haven't found a way around it yet.

Hello, everyone.

I want to contribute some sets ripped by me recently. Could you mirror them?

- Hokuto no Ken PSF
- Family Tennis Advance GSF (timing and tagging needed)
- Hachiemon GSF (timing and tagging needed)

All these games use a custom driver. I will be glad if you tagger do not forget to set my name in psfby tag.
by Knurek at 12:47 PM EST on December 29, 2013
Hokuto no Ken uploaded, two GSF sets will be uploaded (timed, as usual) as soon as they get released on portable music history

Very glad for those Natsume rips, the company had some amazing composers. If you manage to rip more of their GBA output, I'll be overjoyed.

Domo, Knurek-san. loveemu desu.

Thank you for your quick job.

Loveemu, if you could look at some of the Sappy games that don't work with Saptapper - I've posted a list of them a few posts above. They should be very easy to rip properly for the most part, thing is, nobody here is capable/willing to do them.

Notable games with very nice scores include:

Advance Guardian Heroes (2004-09-14)(Treasure)
Eyeshield 21 - Devilbats Devildays (2006-04-06)(Eighting)(Nintendo)
Gensou Suikoden - Card Stories (2001-09-13)(Will)(Konami)
Shining Force - Resurrection of the Dark Dragon [Shining Force - Kuroki Ryuu no Fukkatsu] (2004-04-30)(Amusement Vision, Climax)(THQ)

Hi all.
Let me put 2 new rips here.

Digi Communication GSF
Digi Communication 2 GSF

I hope they are not broken. I haven't tested them very much.
Also, they are not timed and tagged as usual. I hope someone will do.

Knurek:
Thank you for the info. I may look on them, may not.
by Knurek at 2:44 PM EST on January 6, 2014

You mention a soundtest for both DiGi Communication games - care to share battery SAV or savestate file for them? I may try to tag the sets as well.

Sure, just state what were the problems with the current set.

Hi Josh! I've recently uploaded some stuff onto your FTP but suddenly I can't upload anything anymore. I get a "Connection closed by server with exitcode 2" error and the to-be-uploaded files are 0-byte. Is there some size restriction? I have finished uploading all rips with the letter A and wanted to complete the # sets before continuing.

Fear Effect and Fear Effect 2:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/5dmdxv
http://www.sendspace.com/file/gooiry

Both sets redone with MarkGrass's Generic Driver V4
Problems fixed:
Current for Fear Effect had no reverb and did not loop.
Current Fear Effect 2 set playback was slower on most songs with current psf plugin for winamp(Had this problem on both my computers) Using MarkGrass's or Davironica's drivers fixed the issue.
Decided to include original stub src for the second game even though it wasn't used.

Reverb settings may not be proper due to using generic drivers
by loveemu at 11:06 PM EST on January 10, 2014
Knurek:
I did not have battery SAVs, however, I can provide them anyway.

DiGi Communication SAV (select おまけ → サウンド for sound mode)
DiGi Communication 2 SAV (select コレクション → おもいで → おんがく for sound mode)

DiGi Communication SAV does not unlock every songs, however, you can view song titles and the song order is same to the GSF set.
DiGi Communication 2 SAV should unlock every songs. (thanks to cheat code)

forgot to say thanks for that Family Tennis Advance rip, loveemu. I was really curious if there were any Namco songs in the game, given the cameos.

Did I hallucinate someone uploading a pack of PMH sets sometime in the past year? I have a number of notes to check on some GBS rips. I can download them individually just fine, I just want to make sure nobody else remembers such a pack being put together.

Hi,

I created my modified version of Caitsith2's saptapper. It does not bring new things so much, but some options could make semi-automated rips easier a little.

## Example Of Use ##

$ saptapper -v --offset-vsync 0x8021544 "1829 - Futari ha Precure Arienaai Yume no Kuni ha Daimeikyuu (J).gba"

1829 - Futari ha Precure Arienaai Yume no Kuni ha Daimeikyuu (J).gba
----------------------------------------

PURIYUMESONO (BFPJ)

- sappy_init = 0x08020DB4
- sappy_main = 0x08020E2C
- sappy_selectsongbynum = 0x08020E38
- sappy_vsync = 0x08021544
- sappy_songs = 0x0803A8F0
- gsf_driver_block = 0x080284F4

86 succeeded, 5 skipped

The result misses PCM channels, though :(

I completely forgot I had this set, but I never uploaded it because I never added any loop points.
These still don't have any loop points, but I decided to just upload it as or else it's never gonna get done. I have no idea how to find the loop points for these, so I decided they're better off with none then improper ones.

Knurek:
You can find it if you have a little THUMB knowledge, because the code looks quite similar to the standard one. The result was incomplete though.

I have almost ripped Puyo Puyo Fever, it was quite easy thanks to Saptapper. However, I do not release it for now. My goal is to investigate what is wrong with Sappy driver and try to improve the tool.

Therefore, you do not need to search them if I could do that successfully.

Can you encode audio and upload 3xtreme for ps1?
by loveemu at 9:31 AM EST on January 18, 2014
Hi, this is Cure Loveemu.

My modified version of saptapper starts supporting Puyo Pop Fever and Precure games. Hopefully there might be other games too.

I have updated the built-in GSF driver code. I hope this new version has no regressions and every rips will play correctly.

Edit: Some voice tracks of Puyo Pop Fever does not play in foobar2000? => No, I hooked to sappy_selectsong on unaltered ROM and modified r0 value to hear the correct sample, but it does not play (or plays beeeeep square wave) anyways.

Quick check (obviously I haven't had time to listen to sets extensively), and it seems to work with music tracks for most of the missing sappy games.

Games using early version of the driver still return missing VSync function:

(2001-03-21) Boku wa Koukuu Kanseikan (Japan) (Rev 1)
(2001-03-21) GT Advance - Championship Racing (aka Advance GTA)
(2001-03-21) Momotarou Matsuri (Japan) (Rev 1)
(2001-09-13) Gensou Suikoden - Card Stories (Japan)
(2001-12-07) GT Advance 2 - Rally Racing (aka Advance Rally)

//EDIT

Samples aren't played correctly in:

(2001-12-06) Kinniku Banzuke - Kimero! Kiseki no Kanzen Seiha

As I stated above, that was not true :)

Yeah, I updated the search function. Thank you for your info. (*'v'*)

> Knurek:
> Samples aren't played correctly in:
> (2001-12-06) Kinniku Banzuke - Kimero! Kiseki no Kanzen Seiha

Hmm, you're right. However, I guess the problem is caused by a player (emulator) rather than Saptapper. I opened unaltered ROM in VBA-M (and some other VBA variants and NO$GBA, too) and heard some songs. They were noisy too.
If you think I am wrong at some points, please let me know. I would appreciate it.
by Knurek at 5:15 AM EST on January 19, 2014
Thank you for this, it's easily 60 previously unripped GBA games. I will try to add them to pmh ASAP.

I think that takes care of all Sappy games. \o/

I imagine that Kinnikuman game is just a bad dump, sorry for not checking the playback in an emulator before reporting.

If you ever manage to add support for other drivers (Natsume, Konami, Griptonite, GBAMOD, GAX), please let me know. Game Boy Advance had some amazing tunes, would love to see the ripped.

There's still loads of unripped GBA games - and the list is complete only up till 2005.07

//EDIT

loveemu, I'm not sure if this isn't something the early Sappy driver does, but the rips I've made (up now on pmh) all have a tiny pop at start of song. This only happens with the early driver version you added recently, not the newer version you added previously.

It's easily noticeable when you play any track that has silence at beginning, just try 01 BGM #01, 04 BGM #04 or 06 BGM #06 from GT Advance Championship Racing [Advance GTA] (GBA)(2001-03-21)(-)(MTO)

I will probably check it, but not very soon, for some reasons.

By the way, I created my gsfopt page. You can download bugfixed version of the last release there.

IMPOTANT NOTICE

Please stop using all old releases of my saptapper. Visit saptapper github page and download new releases (release date is not changed, however, it fixes a fatal bug described below).

Old versions (except official saptapper) actually puts wrong offset value into minigsf. The offset must be 0x08XXXXXX, but the tool writes it as 0x00XXXXXX.

Sorry for inconvenience.
I'm thinking if I should create a small tool to fix existing minigsfs made by it...
by Knurek at 9:21 AM EST on January 24, 2014
Can I use the gsflib created with the old version and just replace the minigsfs?

If so, no need for a tool, I will just redo all the sets myself - it's just a simple unpack-change_one_byte_repack procedure, right?
by loveemu at 9:35 AM EST on January 24, 2014
Knurek:
> Can I use the gsflib created with the old version and just replace the minigsfs?

Yes, fortunately you can. You're right.

By the way, I redumped Metroid Fusion GSF since it does not play in kode54's foo_input_gsf and no$gba. New one plays on both of them.

Changes:

- make main loop shorter a little
- Caitsith2's GSF probably adjusts volume by editing volume multiplier constant. I did not do that, instead, I tried to use in-game headphone setting rather than handheld. (I set 2 to 0x080024C7, I hope it's not wrong)
- minigsfs are *not* changed at all

There's a noticable glitch at beginning of each track in that fixed Metroid Fusion set when using viogsf (0.08/VBA-M r956).

//EDIT

Also, unless VGMToolbox doesn't unpack minigsf files for some reason, I can't find an easy way to change the minigsf load offsets - if you could whip up a simple tool to fix them, it'd be lovely - I have about 20 games done with the bad version of Saptapper, it would take me about a week to redo all of them orz

loveemu, one more thing - the new saptapper crashes on these games:

Gakuen Alice - Dokidoki Fushigi Taiken (2004-11-18)(Rokumendo)(Kids Station)
Sentouin Yamada Hajime (2004-10-21)(Rokumendo)(Kids Station)
Zettai Zetsumei Dangerous Jiisan Tsuu - Ikari no Oshioki Blues (2004-07-16)(Rokumendo)(Kids Station)
Zettai Zetsumei Dangerous Jiisan 3 - Hateshinaki Mamonogatari (2004-12-16)(Rokumendo)(Kids Station)

And probably on some other ones as well?

In the meantime, I created a tool to fix minigsf.
Download minigsffix

Usage: minigsffix *.minigsf

This tool overwrites given minigsfs. I recommend to make backups since I have not tested the tool much. I hope it will work good.

I replaced the above. I hope it will improve the situation. Otherwise, I may need to copy some bytes from unoptimized ROM by hand.

### Edit: Mother 3 GSF ###

Also, I reoptimized Mother 3 GSF and converted 004.gsf to 004.minigsf :)

GSF Central. All archive sites I know are GSF Central and here.

Apparently it is not needed at all. Probably I will delete my own later :(

Also, I fixed Saptapper crash, I have not created executable binary yet, though.

I have been researching this for several days, but I still do not figure out why.

It is caused by wave RAM channel, and it seems to happen with unaltered ROM, too (try rom2gsf unaltered_rom.gba).

Edit: I got tired. I give up for now.

Alpha23, just out of curiosity, why did you upload official OSTs there?

Also, I've noticed loads of 0bytes files you made there - you sure the uploads for these are OK? :)

Also, also, I've tried one random NDS rip you put there - why would you upload Impulse Tracker conversions, when we have both 2sf and ncsf formats. O_O

@ Josh: simple thing: I was too lazy to sort out all the OSTs and additional tracks for upload. ;) Same with the NDS versions - just delete everything that doesn't fit.
The zero byte files are internal files from my collection to remind me of what is missing.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 12:48 PM EST on February 8, 2014
So the 0 byte files are a kind of "coming soon" or "watch this space" type thing, i.e a kind of placeholder?
by loveemu at 9:55 PM EST on February 10, 2014
Hi, I updated saptapper.

- Fix issue #4 (Saptapper crashes on Kids Station games)
- Improve compression ratio by removing redundant flushing.
- Huge internal redesign (which should not affect to user) for multiple driver support.

Pop noise problem of older games is not solved, because I do not understand how to fix.

FTP upload finished by Alpha23 at 12:24 PM EST on February 20, 2014
Hi Josh!
I just finished uploading my collection (~440 GB). Let me know about your progress once in a while. :)
by Knurek at 4:58 PM EST on February 20, 2014
Gone through the list, removed all OSTs, CSTs, dlcs (which I gather to be music from game websites, etc), PSP sets (you converted the AT3s to AA3s, something we generally not do), DS sets (IT conversions, like I've said before) and AND/IP sets (no archives for these, and I can't say I'm interested in adding them)

It's still ~280 GB, so will take a lot of time to check for dupes and reupload to proper archives.
I do appreciate your work, even if it's a bit messy. Hope there are some nice tunes we didn't have before there.
In regards to Alpha23`s sets that manage to stay on JoshW servers and will eventually be added to VGM archives by Ultrafighter at 5:22 AM EST on February 21, 2014
Hey Knurek, should we expect to see a listing of all the sets ultimately complying with your rules of making streamed rips therefore making it to HCS team`s rip collection? I`m simply assuming that addition of his gigantic collection even as severely cut as it`s right now will affect all the platforms represented starting with PS(X) (or maybe even SCD) and ending with PS3 & X360 so that it`d be pretty neat to know exactly what was added and where it`s currently deposited.

Knurek and loveemu, I'm a bit late to the party since you updated the Metroid Fusion music. I did produce a game rip of the soundtrack that you might be able to use for comparison (scroll to the bottom). Most of the tracks are looped versions from the OST, but some of them use the older version of the plugin (they're tagged appropriately). LMK if you find any of this helpful.

http://www.metroid-database.com/mf/music.php

Incidentally, the Zero Mission section was also done. I used VBA-M r956, with a -0.3 filter, since it most closely matched the sound I got from line-in test recordings on various hardware.

PSP sets by Alpha23 at 9:32 AM EST on February 27, 2014
Nice work with the updates. :)
I hope you haven't deleted ALL PSP sets because there are many games with PS2 ADPCM, CRI ADX or the old Atrac 3 codec!
BTW, how are you going to handle games where I merged the platforms (cases where platforms have the same files)? And what are you going to do with the movies in general?
by Alpha23 at 9:35 AM EST on February 27, 2014
... and how are you handling Demo versions that have different music than the full version (e.g. alternate and unused tracks)? Will they be added as well?
by Knurek at 11:07 AM EST on February 27, 2014
I think I deleted all files with Demo tag, sorry. Didn't think they could have different music. Please don't reupload them though just yet, maybe once I'm done with the current batch (2016?).

All PSP/NDS sets as well but don't worry, we have all of them either ripped already or in queue for pmh rip, nothing will be missing from those two systems.

Joined sets will be split, I don't think I will dupe the movie files - I guess they will just be available in one of the sets.

New rip from recently translated Visual Novel:

I/O (2008-08-29)(Regista)(Asgard)
by Alpha23 at 2:31 PM EST on February 27, 2014
Just uploaded 28 new source rips! :)

About the Demo versions: If I have a game source AND the Demo version it means that there's new music in the latter. Quite logical in my opinion, hehe ;). You'd be surprised how many games use different music in their Demo versions - even until today it is utilized (e.g. Hard Reset). However, if I ONLY have the Demo version, then I can't be sure if the tracks are exclusive or not unless I check out the full version of course.

About merged platforms: What about games that have duplicate music but different movies? Or some duplicates and some exclusive tracks? Could be a bit tricky in the end... That's the main reason I chose to sort my collection just by alphabet and not by platform. This way I can (or rather could because I don't actually do it) create custom soundtracks by quickly merging all tracks from all platforms and choosing the ones with the best quality. In your collection I have to check which platforms the game was released on first and then check in each platform category if the game source is available. Not that I try to complain (!) but I'm, sure you get my point. ;) I haven't been around since the beginning of this thread so I didn't catch the posts about why you've sorted it that way. Feel free to explain again, I'm quite curious actually. :)
by Alpha23 at 2:47 PM EST on February 27, 2014
BTW, the reason why I have this very specific naming scheme "title ~ year ~ platform(s) ~ composer(s) ~ notes" is that I can create a list (dir /S /B *.7z >list.txt) that can be parsed into a database or at least a spreadsheet with little effort (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsilW5Z4gQMDdHFvWjhOQy1mZ00wUTlkamtoeTNoQUE&usp=sharing#gid=0).
Not so easy with your naming scheme though.
