ADX's by JILost at 6:02 PM EST on January 14, 2006
I realize that Raiden III isn't a Gamecube game (it's a PS2 game), but the music -is- in ADX format and is currently unplayable by in_cube.dll. I thought you guys (or possibly just hcs) might want to investigate and consider adding support for this new(?) ADX format.

Good luck.

Yeah, a little while ago I borrowed Nights and it contained ADPs, but in_cube could not play them. Strange...

Well, I'd expect ADP in Nights to be some funky Saturn ADPCM format.
I'll take a look at the supplied ADXs, though.

I figured as much. Just thought you might would like to know.

I took a look at the Raiden III ADXs, it seems to be just a matter of a new signature, but I won't be able to test this theory 'till Thursday.

Any progess/success/info?
by hcs at 8:26 AM EST on January 20, 2006
Only bad news so far, it seems that the encoding is different. I can get it to play, but it sounds very bad. This must indeed be a new variant of the ADX format.

Hmm, if there's a new version/variant of ADX, in_cube won't be the only utility/player affected... do you think you'll have any luck reverse engineering the new format? Would recordings of the game's music provide any assistance?
by hcs at 11:42 AM EST on January 25, 2006
No, I don't think I'll have any luck. The decoding isn't my strong point.
If you do find a program that will play them, let me know, because disassembly is my strong point.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the header start is
80 00 07 FC
Is in_cube making any assumption when decoding this (sample offset?)
by hcs at 7:36 AM EST on March 2, 2006
I don't think it's making any assumption it shouldn't be making... 0x7fc is where the data starts, it seems.

Maybe I just don't get what you mean.
