Converting files by Spitfire at 2:38 PM EST on January 28, 2006
Hi, I have a question. I was wondering if there was any way to convert the files that can be dl off this site into files capable of being played on an media device such as the PSP or an iPOD.

Go to www.winamp.com and search for a MP3 output plugin. Then the USFs can be converted to MP3.

Hope that this helps.

I used to convert them to .wav with Nullsoft Disk Writer first. Afterwards I convert them to mp3 with CDex (extremely high quality).

I also tried Chun Yu Shei's mp3 converting plugin for Winamp, but was never satisfied with the results.

Does it just so happen that you're Spitfire from F2? Just curious.

And yeah, I used to use Winamp to write WAVs and then I could convert them to whatever codec and bitrate I wanted. However, these days I can't write WAVs of USFs any more, don't know what went wrong.

I also use the diskwriter to produce WAVs, then I run them through Lame.

Not sure what's wrong with Vague's setup... I haven't upgraded to the latest version of winamp (I think I'm still using 5.07, or 2.95 since it loads faster), if that has anything to do with it.

I was able to help Vague Rant fix his problem. He needed to use "Round Frequency" because some games had sound output of 32006KHz, and it didn't output in a useable way for his software to render it. So, for those with recording troubles, try using that selection in the options. It might help. Mouser X over and out.

I'd suggest setting a nearby frequency (32000Hz, in this case) in the diskwriter rather than round frequency. But that's just me.
