Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds BGM? by Shin Star at 12:12 AM EDT on April 24, 2013
I really like the music in this game, but I can't figure out how to rip the files properly. I managed to extract the single XBLA file, but in it, there's a bunch of other files with no extensions and file names with random numbers (03867195, 24383192, etc.) I don't have any knowledge when it comes to Xbox 360 files, but I have uploaded the largest file in the data folder if anybody wants to take a look at it. I had to split it into 2 parts:
just a bit of advice, when you find some files named mysterious things and have no idea where to start, the first thing to do is generally to bust out TrID (or TrIDNet) and see if it says anything.
If you're using Windows, it's also useful to keep Extractor 2.5 around (in addition to VMGToolbox), and ask it to analyze files. Just remember to go into the options (third tab on the right) to change the language to English (or whatever), and make sure that you're searching for all file types except .TXT, because that will clog the search results with a bunch of useless junk. You'll also want to disable certain formats and rescan files multiple times due to false positives (a lot of things apparently look like PSB files).
Watto's extraction tools are also worth looking at, although each requires a $5 "donation" to register and be worth a damn.
There are other applications that do some of these things, for a variety of operating systems, but these are the ones I tend to fall back on, since they don't require a lot of effort. I've been thinking this place needs a central extraction/file identification topic, but I'm not sure where to start. You might want to look through several pages here.
