How can I rip music myself? by Uikri at 11:44 PM EDT on June 1, 2014
There are some games which do not have their music on the joshw.info archive, and I figured I might as well rip it myself, except that I don't know how. What tools do I need and what do I have to do to rip native format music from:

Dino Crisis (PS1)
DBZ: Legacy of Goku II (GBA)
Medabots AX: Metabee/Rokusho Version (GBA)
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky (DS)
Zone of the Enders (PS2)
Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner (PS2)
Pokémon Colosseum (GameCube)

Also, I don't need native format music, but playable music from Fable II (XBOX360). How can I achieve such? All I really want is the pause menu music.

Also, my original account, Vittas, won't log in. How can I get help with this?

Regarding the account, don't worry about it and just use this new one.

Unfortunately I can't help you with those games, maybe someone else can.

Alright. Thank you.

>Unfortunately I can't help you with those games, maybe someone else can.

That's fine. Someone on here likely knows how to rip audio from games on those systems.

For Fable II, there isn't a plugin or player that allows you to listen to its sound files (XMA) natively. However I do have a rip if you would like it :)

As for most of the other games mentioned, most of them I wouldn't know as I do not rip music from handheld consoles.

It seems MarkGrass already at least attempted to rip Dino Crisis 1: http://z4.invisionfree.com/Resident_Evil_1_2_3/index.php?showtopic=2236&st=15&#entry22310385

You might try asking him for advice or perhaps just check if he did already rip it.

I tried ripping Dino Crisis using generic SDK functionality (my generic psf driver), to no avail.

After consulting with a professional on the matter, we concluded that the sequence data is proprietary. Well, technically speaking, it's all proprietary, using something called the "GIAN" format.

...but more specifically, CAPCOM used proprietary encoding of the sequence data (notes, pitch, etc) that simply isn't compatible with PSY-Q functionality.

Long story short, this game requires an original driver... which I never got around to. I'd have to write something that would convert the sequence format to generic MIDI/SEQ format, otherwise.

Furrybob (moosehunter) is sort of working on Colosseum rips, but I'm not sure how much progress he's made. If Fable II does indeed use xma as its format, you need a copy of towav.exe to convert the xma files to wav (it's pretty easy to find). As for Explorers of Sky... I have no idea. For some reason, VGMTrans can't find any of its sequences. I haven't tried yet, but maybe you can get some 2sf rips using VGMToolBox. Good luck.

EDIT: After some searching, it seems Explorers of Sky is totally unrippable with the tools we have right now, it seems to use its own little engine of some sort.

I did a Colosseum rip a while ago. https://www.mediafire.com/?dgk7tfaa35f3h

I was looking at the sequence format for Pokemon Colosseum and Tales of Symphonia and have some basic information about them, but I don't have enough spare time to completely figure them out.

That mediafire link leads nowhere (at least for me). Also, you did a Colosseum LOG, not a rip :p
by furrybob at 9:49 PM EDT on June 3, 2014
That should have been a ? in the url, not a #

By that logic, none of the audio tracks from xSF files are rips, they're all logs.
by Kurausukun at 11:05 PM EDT on June 3, 2014
I don't think it works both ways like that. Also, this is an argument for some other place. Thanks for the link.

Anything with FFMPEG support, including Cog for OS X, supports XMA files natively. Maybe not with any loop information, though.
by Kurausukun at 2:25 AM EDT on June 4, 2014
Loop information for xma files differs between games iirc. If it has an xma2 header, it'll be way at the end of the file (you'll see it in your hex editor). It's a 32-bit int value.

Since this is a thread about doing self-made rips, I thought I'd ask a question here of my own:

As I mentioned in a separate thread I made, I'm looking for music rips for some PS1 games developed by Natsume. Right now, I have an image for Gear Fighter Dendoh, but I'm having trouble locating the music data. I used jPSXdec to look through the game's files, but the only music I found was for the opening movie. The rest of the audio was just the voice files (all in .XA format, BTW). Perhaps there's another program I need to use to locate and rip the proper data? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
by marcusss at 3:11 AM EDT on June 6, 2014
Probably like Raiden DX, in that it is sequenced right? It is like 30mb and I remember Raiden and Raiden DX were not that much larger..

Those games didn't really have the standard music files like most PSX games did.

Infernus Animositas, if your rip includes the pause menu music, then yes, I would be most grateful if you would share it with me.

Kurausukun, Are you sure?

furrybob, thanks a bunch for the link! [EDIT]Whoa, it's in FLAC? Is it like that on the disc, because the whole reason I want the native audio files is so that I can extend them in foobar2000 and convert them to a format playable on my phone. Also what do those tools do that came with the music?[/EDIT]

Any ideas on the GBA & PS2 titles? Also, has anyone got the original audio files for Romancing SaGa or the Pikmin games?

Ah, also Crystal Chronicles for the Gamecube.
by Kurausukun at 3:13 PM EDT on June 13, 2014
A few answers for you: Yes, I am sure Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky are unrippable with our current tools. You'll have to use the logs we currently have. As for furrybob's Colosseum rip, no. They are definitely not like that on the disc. Colosseum's audio is sequenced, not streamed. I'm fairly certain he just logged the audio using Dolphin or some similar method. Also, we're still currently figuring out Pikmin's sequences, as I understand. Not sure exactly who's doing that, might be furrybob, might be someone else, but I don't think we're that far along right now.

Infernus Animositas have you still got the Ripped fable ii files? The mega links are dead :c and I am having trouble converting the files from xma2 to wav after extracting them from the .bnks. If not then no worries p.s. sorry to bump an old thread like this
by Infernus Animositas at 11:30 PM EDT on April 7, 2017
