Do you have a rip of the Mario Golf: World Tour DLC?
by 54634564 at 8:08 PM EST on December 24, 2014
Chuckles, here's what I was able to get out of Mario Golf (U) DLC:
http://hugefiles.net/zcuzeqgaaxod

Folder numbers have no significance. Also just noticed I included dupes of each one.

Can't get the BCSTMs to play properly. If you remove the first 4 bytes from them, you can get something, but it'll just end up killing your ears.
by soneek at 5:37 AM EST on December 25, 2014
@54634564

Thanks so much! hcs figured out the problem with the Mario Golf songs a while ago, and I wrote something to make them playable. Here's a re-upload of the other set with the DLC included.

Mario Golf: World Tour + DLC

DLC songs are song_64*, and song_mariostar.

The only problem left is that some of the songs spike right at the loop point, and we haven't gotten a chance to really figure out why yet.

Would greatly appreciate it.

@Boomer

No progress. My external hard drive is pretty much unusable right now, so I raged and haven't done any 3DS stuff for a while. Even if I'm able to recover it, I have a lot of other stuff I want to accomplish before the spring semester. I still need to figure out some other song effects that I'm missing in general as well, since not all of my dumps are perfect yet.

Thanks for the links, guys! I've been carefully editing the "loop-spikes" out manually and so far it's unnoticeable... to me at least :P

I finally join the ranks of those able to decrypt 3DS content, all due to the gateway supporting up to system versions 9.2.

I went ahead, and looked at decrypting my TFFCC DLC, and instead ended up decrypting everything that is currently on Nintendo's servers, which includes unreleased content. :)

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/20737085/TFFCC_DLC.7z - Each directory has a contents.csv file, which describes what the song is, and various aspects of that song. (I pre-decompressed that file too.)

Music from Seiken Densetsu 3, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, and others are in this. :)

I will monitor the server for additional DLC over time, as evidently, SquareEnix put that batch of content up, probably when the announced the Bravely Default songs for the game in Japan, and there is enough there for 4 batches of Japan release, (and 2 batches of NA releases.)

Updated the archive so that the numbering is consistent all the way down. THere is actually only 74 tracks, not 75. The program I had written to automate the processes, started out as a hack job. Now, I am properly parsing the tmd, to determine which file to open. The very first index in the TMD, is the icon, that you would see in your Data management screen. THe next 63 entries, for this game, are Character entries. Of those, only 6 of them have any actual Character DLC, the others are empty, for future expansion.

After that, is the music itself. Now, the tool automatically parses content.csv, to extract some key information, that is now listed in "Music list.txt".

In all other processes, I revised my setup, so that I can mostly automate checking for new DLC, and getting it extracted if there is anything new, for this game. :)

---- EDIT ----
Dropbox link no longer valid. The new link is https://www.caitsith2.com/3sf/TFFCC_DLC.7z

---- EDIT ----
Download now has all of the files renamed, and included only the music files now.

Can some kind soul prepare a rename batch file for TFFCC non-DLC tracks as well?

I'm not looking forward to reuploading a 1.1 GB set to joshw mirror twice. :)
by CaitSith2 at 11:48 AM EST on January 16, 2015
Done: https://caitsith2.com/3sf/TFFCC_rename.bat

This covers the main tracks in the game, none of the menu stuff though. (naming comes from a csv file that exists within the rom. :) )

----
And as I stated before, you may not be looking forward to uploading a set any more than you have to, but of course, if Square Enix releases any new DLC onto the DLC storage servers, then of course, you will have to upload the set once again, as I will be updating the DLC to include anything else that gets released. At least Square Enix is kind enough to put them up on the server in batches. :)

soneek, how's progress going on your CSEQ tools?
BCSAR Research Progress by soneek at 12:01 PM EST on January 28, 2015
@ 54634564

Did you find a game that has just a bcsar? I haven't looked at anything cseq or csar related since mid-December. I can try to release an unfinished tool with instructions this weekend if I have time, but it's not guaranteed to work everywhere, and it gets very tedious if there are a lot of sound banks.

I don't know how far behind the source code is from where I finished. My most up-to-date code was on my external hard drive that crashed. Also, I'm not really proud of the source code. It's really ugly.

The main problem I have is that converting some stuff to MIDI comes out at twice the required tempo, and I can't find any flags to know when to cut it in half. I also have some effects that aren't really implemented, as pointed out when I was checking out Metal Max. I had an issue reading the tracks properly for some OoT 3D sequences, and I fear it might happen with Majora's Mask for a couple songs as well.

A big thing that needs to be implemented is writing directly to a soundfont or DLS file. Vgmstream can be implented into the program to decode the .bcwav samples before writing the RIFF samples, but at this point I've been generating text file templates for SF2Comp.

If anyone wants to pick up where I've left off, I'd be more than happy to push them in the right direction. I did it as a research project for one of my classes, so I have a paper detailing most of the process.

BCSAR is very similar to BFSAR, but BFSAR has a lot more features, and larger sound banks for some stuff. I haven't run into Wii U sequenced music yet, but it should be possible to properly sort the NSMBU and NSLU bcwavs with a little tinkering of my tool.

Honestly, for the time being, I'd be happy to be able to rip sounds out of bc/fsars. I'd also like to be able to see track volume levels like with brsars, but if that's not possible then oh well. I mainly want that for MK8 mixing purposes.
by Vittas at 3:20 AM EST on February 5, 2015
Is there some reason that nobody will even touch the subject of Persona? Like, what's up? Every time I ask about Persona it gets completely ignored.

I like how you added that so casually :)

is there a point of having this version vs. the original soundtrack of the original game?

edited 6:19 PM EST February 10, 2015
by LaniKai at 2:48 PM EST on February 10, 2015
This version is better in my opinion because in the original soundtrack from 2000, the songs sounded- off. If you compared Clock Town Day 1 from the soundtrack and from this one, you'll hear that they sound different. As if the reverbs from the original midi's were removed in the soundtrack release.

Club Nintendo's 2013 re-release do fix the problems the original soundtrack had, but my problem with Club Nintendo's re-release was that some songs fade out too early, which prevented me or anyone who tried to loop them from doing so. Final Hours and Termina Field are good examples. Hell, they even included fade outs in the Ocarina songs... Which I thought was pointless.

Also, I have a question for the program that creates WAVs of these. The "test.exe" For some reason, I'm unable to modify anything in that program. For example, for one song, I wanted to make the song loop 10 times, but no matter what I do, as soon as I click the app, it appears for a brief second before it disappears. It does convert the bcstms but only when I drag them onto the program, which then creates the dump file but only at the default 'two loops'. Can anyone help me out on this?

by soneek at 3:30 PM EST on February 10, 2015
@LaniKai Inside the folder, Shift+Right-click->Open command window here. Then type "test" and hit enter for instructions.

edited 8:38 PM EST February 10, 2015
by LaniKai at 3:46 PM EST on February 10, 2015
Alright, I was able to get the instructions to appear. Once they're all displayed, it brings me down to a new line of commands. I'm pretty sure I'm not doing it right because I type in "text-l" for the loop count, it says: 'test-l' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
by soneek at 3:56 PM EST on February 10, 2015
You need spaces between the commands.

test -l 10 -o "Termina Field.wav" 002NA_BGM_FIELD.dspadpcm.bcstm

will loop decode the field theme for 10 loops. By default, the songs will have 2 loops with a 10 second fade, and 0 second delayed fade. The -l, -f, -d switches can override the defaults.

by starerik at 4:37 AM EST on February 11, 2015
I'm confused to why they chose to go with streams. It sounds like they just recorded the original MIDI files anyway. The reverb gives it away. The reverb is very similar to the original, that bouncy and delay-esque reverb which is not really used anymore (it was easier on the CPU a long time ago.) It would have probably sounded the same if they just went with full on sequence.
by Lunar at 11:52 PM EST on February 11, 2015
"I'm confused to why they chose to go with streams."

Well, cart size is probably not an issue any more, for one. But I bet CPU still is, so not having audio DSP/effects running on sequences would save a few cycles!

Sequences these days are only really useful for doing dynamic music operations (obvious example is the ball rolling music in Super Mario Galaxy.) If it's just BGM that has no direct connection in game action then streams probably offer more advantages. Granted it'd make even more sense if they also updated all the sound patches or included some live instruments.
by starerik at 2:49 AM EST on February 12, 2015
Right, forgot it drains less resources. Silly me. Carry on.
by bxaimc at 8:07 AM EST on February 12, 2015

He is SERIOUSLY overlooked, BTW!!!!!!

Discovery:
There are 487 mono & 576 stereo audio files in Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon in total.
(Now they are all playable in genh!)

While there are 4 of the stereo audio files different than the other.
(How the standard stereo audio file in LMDM looks like)

They are:
Ghost Theme 01 (Image),
Ghost Theme 03 32000Hz Ver (Image) & 16000Hz Ver (Image),
And the track that plays when Luigi is catching a normal ghost in Haunted Towers boss mission (Image). This one is even different than the other 3 tracks above.

The 4 tracks are playable. But only there would happen a noise at the beginning of them.

Any ideas about these 4 files?

1063 playable genh files in total. Please send it to 3sf.joshw.info

I have also made a bunch of PLAYLISTs
Drop the m3u to the folder with the genh files before drag one to Winamp or Foobar.

Unlike the other bouns mission music. The tracks of Gradual Infiltration have a smooth ending their own.
So I found the loop points myself and here is the Gradual Infiltration music tracks with in-game loops.

Enjoy! Just ask me if there's any question about this.

(Soon I will create a renamer for most of the looping tracks and some jingles. And I will make some medleys of LMDM as well.)

Has anyone already managed to rip Mighty Switch Force 1 & 2's soundtracks or is that stuff heavily encrypted?

Code Name S.T.E.A.M. came out on Friday and it has some really good music. I'd love to see a rip of it.

Not sure if anyone has done it, but is there a sound dump for The Legend of Legacy? I haven't been able to find one yet, besides YouTube recordings which are terrible.

Thank you soo much, Sith, I really appreciate the strong effort, as always!! ;)

Say, Mr. Sith, are you able to do a Game called "Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword"? It's an eShop only Game that came out in 2012, I think.
Composers are Toshiyuki Sudo & Daisuke Matsuoka. :)

Excuse me, but can someone rip music for the game Style Savvy: Trendsetters (or Nintendo Presents: New Style Boutique in Europe)?

Not a particular fan of the game, but I'm interested in its music since two songs appeared in the latest Smash Bros, and I noticed that no one has ripped it yet.

I got an update for the LMDM playlists:
The files "Jingles.m3u" ,"BigBoo.m3u" and "GrouchyPossessor.m3u" have been modified. Now there are 5 playlists for the ghost themes (For each mansion)

I just found that "streamedfiles-0679.genh" is actually the BGM of Cellar (Before Luigi fought Grouchy Possessor). So it should be a looping track. But I had mistakenly treated it as the track with no loops.
I'm so sorry for this...Please replace the old one(in 3sf.joshw.info) with this fixed one.

I have also made a renamer for a few Jingles.
Just run it under the folder with the tracks listed on "Jingle.m3u".

Anyone going to do the Bravely Second demo?
by RebeccaSugar at 11:42 AM EDT on March 28, 2015
Also requesting the Ice King rip, Jake doesn't have it on his bandcamp...the only 'real' source is the soundcloud.

Fossil Fighters: Frontier came out a couple weeks ago and I thought the Japanese version got ripped but I can't seem to find it. Am I just losing my mind here?

Has anyone ripped Professor Layton x Phoenix Wright? I checked thi thread and http://3sf.joshw.info/, but neither have anything. I really don't like the way the OST is styled.
