If not, how I can extract bcstm from a .CIA?

by Blazingflare at 8:53 PM EST on November 20, 2015
@Kurausukun
I'm downloading the game right now, but I won't be able to rip it until I get off work tonight. If nobody rips it in the next 7 hours, I will.
Edit: Well bad news, I can't dump Super Mystery dungeon. It turns out that the eshop version of suffers from the same issues as Triforce Heros with homebrew right now.
I do have a couple friends that are also planning on buying the game. I will see if they bought physical copies of the game and try to dump theirs.

Does anyone have a Japanese copy they could dump for me, the music in that game is really nice.

@soneek

I'm trying to rip Metal Max 4: Diva of the Moonlight again after a whole year when I first asked here. :-)

In the process, I found a minor bug in the current GitHub version:

Line 102 in BNK.h:
instrument instruments[128];

The size, 128, is too small. It will easily overflow and crashes the program. I increased it to 256, and solved the problem.

However, it seems that getting a proper rip is still very difficult.

For the very first track, which is the main theme of the game, I created the soundfont correctly.

When I tried to listen to the track, I still found it different from the game and official soundtrack CD, mainly due to "lack of sound effects".

I read the log and source code of cseq2midi, and realized that several commands used by CSEQ files are not supported by MIDI.

I'd like to know if it is impossible to make a proper conversion from CSEQ to MIDI due to lack of such commands, or a solution will be available in the future.

I can upload all the related files if needed.

Thank you very much!

Debug version here

This compiled version comes directly from Visual Studio 2015 debug output and I didn't touch anything besides aforementioned one, so it may be not highly optimized. It is still fully functional though, I used this one myself.

Maybe they're not BCSTMs, but played as sound effects (which is weird because Dream Team grouped its RedSpark music and fanfares together). Does Paper Jam use a BCSAR or something?

Picross 3D 2 was released in October (only in Japan), a new title from HAL Laboratory. Seems to have some nice (typically HAL-sounding) music. Anyone know where I could find a rip?

...As well as Senran Kagura Burst, please.
by 54634564 at 1:51 PM EST on January 7, 2016
P&D uses 7.x NCCH crypto, doesn't it? You should be able to decrypt the RomFS straight from your PC now that the keyscrambler is figured out.

You won't be able to get the banner sound from the ExeFS, though, as that uses the old crypto which we don't have the keyX for.

Again, how do I decrypt on PC?
by 54634564 at 10:19 AM EST on January 9, 2016
MurraySkull, someone made this python script to generate xorpads for 7.x crypted content:
http://pastebin.com/K3pVsnkq

You need to fill in the keyslot 0x25 keyX before using it.

With this, you can decrypt the RomFS of any O3DS game released after ~mid 2014. You can not decrypt the ExeFS* or ExHeader.

*You can decrypt the .code segment of a 7.x crypted ExeFS, but not the header which contains the offset/size of the segments, or the banner or logo.

edited 11:39 AM EST January 10, 2016
by 54634564 at 12:07 PM EST on January 10, 2016
MurraySkull, yeah, you would change this line:
KeyX = 0x0000... #KeyX 0x25
to:
KeyX = 0xCEE7... #KeyX 0x25

Also, you need pycrypto. Windows binaries are available here:
http://www.voidspace.org.uk/python/modules.shtml#pycrypto

Then you put an ncchinfo.bin in the same folder and run it, and it'll generate xorpads for the 7.x crypted content.

@soneek: The Wii U update will probably have the music we're searching for, though. And in a better quality.

I checked the Wii U update last night, and it doesn't have the music unfortunately. I was hoping for multichannel versions of stuff, since the 3DS demo is all stereo BGM. At least the new models for the characters and stuff were in the update.
by einstein95 at 10:07 PM EST on January 20, 2016

The hugefiles link is dead, but I already have the bwavs that were posted earlier on the forum, so I just need the stuff that was distributed with the original banner sound folder for the game so I can complete and tag as complete an ost as possible.
If anyone kept the folder on an hd somewhere, could it please be uploaded to something like dropbox or mega.

Is this the FULL rip? If so, I love you!

EDIT: I'm just wondering, where are the jingles?

Also where is BGM_053.dspadpcm heard?
EDIT: Never mind I found out...

@mariofan12ify - Better not to ask questions before discovering for yourself, because really...

Anyways, where should I start with ripping 3DS music? For as long as you don't complain about the music of your favorite game not being ripped on time, I think it's best to just point out the tools needed for ripping 3DS music. I'm fine with extracting a 3DS ROM however, since they are game cards(DS, 3DS, N3DS) rather than cartidges(GB, GBC, GBA).

Just wanted to say thanks again to SoninHyuga for the Mario P&D rip. However.... checking the files myself, I notice it contains ONLY the Mario music, not the P&DZ side's. So if possible, I'd like to humbly request the other half of the music, or at least, as mentioned already, the tools needed to rip so I can just get the dang files myself, heh.

But I'm pretty sure the P&DZ side has an official soundtrack, so why would you really need a rip?
by TheUltimateKoopa at 9:59 PM EST on February 1, 2016
There is no OST for P&DZ

Oh whoops, I was thinking about P&D Battle Tournament...
