Mission: Impossible Tags by marioman at 10:54 AM EDT on April 4, 2006
You guys will be happy to know that I have been able to identify all of the tracks in the Mission: Impossible USF set. I will finish tagging and timing the set soon.

Before I finish, I have a question. Some of the music is used for many levels, should I make the track name the first level in which the music appears or should I go ahead and list all of the levels where it is played?

As soon as I get a response, I will get it finished up.

Thanks.

Both methods have been used with success... I don't know which I'd prefer. I'll let someone else weigh in.

If you do not have a preference, I will go ahead and tag by the first level appearance. The tags would be very messy if I were to put all of the level names in them. The longest one would be something like "Lundkwist Base, Subpen, Train Roof, Subpen II." That would be kind of long if you ask me.

Is it alright for me to go ahead or do you still want more feedback?

It's your tagging, it's Josh's set, I don't see why I should have a say in it.
But in the interest of getting it done:
Go ahead with the short naming.

whatever.
If it looks cool, do it.

I say, either the the first level/area where you encounter the music, or a general name (like, for FF games, they have "Battle Theme" or something). Also, if you include track numbers, I'd suggest ordering the tracks based on when you encounter them as well (unless you have a better method, of course. In my opinion, alphebetical is not better than numbers...). Glad you hear you got it done. That's awesome. Mouser X over and out.

I think it is funny to begin a sentance with "I say,"

I say it is funny to begin a sentence with "I think". :D

>> I don't see why I should have a say in it. <<

Because you are the all-knowing USF master and your opinion is the LAW! :) Really, I appreciate your feedback.

I have completed the tags using name of the level where the song is first used. Now on to timing...

Done! I just sent the updated tags to hcs. As I was tagging, I noticed that three of the tracks have errors in them:

sparse02 - Fire Alarm
sparse04 - Embassy Pianist: Sloborskaia March
sparse06 - Embassy Pianist

With the Embassy Pianist tracks, there are just random notes that come and go throughout the length of the tracks. The Fire Alarm track starts out alright but about 20 sec. or so into the track, the drums get out of sync. Hopefully Josh will be able to fix this and the set can be finished soon. Glad to have this one tagged.

well i have seemed to fix the problem. The downside to this fix is that it makes it use more cpu %.

Get it here

BINGO! No more problems here. Thank you for fixing that Josh.

By the way, I recommend the Train Car theme. It is awesome.

Also, if anyone is interested, I was able to tag this set thanks to this website:

Speed Run Archive

Is has lots of speed runs for many games. (Including N64) So, all I did was wait about 4 hours for the videos to download and then sit back and watch the game. If there is anyone who needs tags for their set, I would recommend looking here...after you have checked Galbadia Hotel, of course. :)

Thanks again Josh for your help.

moved here
Is this complete?
by Josh W at 7:41 AM EDT on April 14, 2006
hmmm...complete...

yah i guess.
i probally wont be able to get it to use less cpu without the problem happening again.

by marioman at 7:45 AM EDT on April 14, 2006
I do not know exactly who that question was directed at, but I will tell you what I know.

The set is completely tagged and timed - nothing more needed there. Also, after viewing the speed run, there does not appear to be any missing tracks. Now that Josh has fixed those errors, there are not any broken tracks.

So, I would say yes.

Haven't heard anything from hcs about this one. I see that it is now listed as a fixed preliminary. So are we going to call this one complete or does it need more work? If anything else needs to be done in the tagging department, let me know.

BUMP! Because I would like to meekly ask what is keeping this set from being complete. WHAT'S GOING ON????

Thank you.
by marioman at 7:46 AM EDT on June 6, 2006
Thank you hcs. Glad to have that one finished.

Just to let you know, Josh has been managing the recent USF central updates.
