I'm with Segtendo. I can't wait for Mario Kart 8, or Smash Wii U.
OK, obviously we're being er... what's the word... not literal. Obviously we don't literally mean "we have absolutely no level of waiting skill of capability whatsoever" :P
Just making sure... I just noticed NSMBU appeared. Do files appear after they START uploading, are after they FINISH? I don't want to end up downloading a half-uploaded file :P
Wait I downloaded the 272 MB Super Mario 3D World.rar and it said the archive was corrupt. That was about 10-15 minutes ago. But then I redownloaded it in case it wasn't fully uploaded, and it's still 272 MB... either I somehow downloaded it when it was 99.9999% complete and had like 1 second left or ... it's corrupt?
I'm just downloading the latest version (5.2 beta 1)... well, I say downloading. I mean "I downloaded it, clicked the exe, and .... nothing's happening, because sometimes Windows 8.1 likes to not do anything when you click an exe, and then ... it just comes up, just as I typed... this exact thing I'm typing lol"
OK, it works.
There are four files in Super Mario 3D World that don't work though. They are called:
You know what really annoys me? When the streams are too quiet, so you have to mess around manually amplifying each one. It's not as simple as "converting to BRSTM", if the purpose is not simply to "make a BRSTM", but "to make a BRSTM that is loud enough to be inserted into a game that uses BRSTMs, e.g. SSBB, that is of a suitable volume".
Hm, I get "Error creating SoundBuffer" in Winamp, trying to play some Nintendo Land files. The ones called BGM_BLF_MAIN. Using Winamp v5.666 using the latest vgmstream posted here.
Convert them to WAV, and then... mess around by making separate WAVs for each possible variation, by removing channels, and mixing channels into 2-channel (stereo) streams?
Also, I know that soneek. I was just saying it's a little annoying :P
Kurausukun? Don't use 7-zip. Use WinRAR 5.0 (or above)...
Also... if Segtendo ever reads this, I've uploaded all the remaining Final Lap versions, i.e. except Cloudtop Cruise, (but not the frontrunning versions of said final lap versions), as well as any streams that were 2-channel streams, such as all fanfares, results, etc. I also updated a few.
I could post this in Smash Boards as well, I suppose (which I will)... just as soon as it's fixed... I sure hope it's not one of them sudden "every Smash Bros site on the internet has a DDoS attack at once" that happened about 2 years ago...
What if I hate WinRAR? 7-zip is arguably the best freeware archive opening program, why can't it open these files? Also, why are we making RAR files that apparently can only be opened by certain programs? Also, that foobar bfstm thing.
Also, those 4 files from Super Mario 3D World that don't play....
And I don't mean they have some kind of buffering error or something weird. With the 6-channel+ streams, although they don't play in Winamp, you can still convert them to WAV with Winamp, and they have a 'length'. The 4 in question, simply have no length at all, as if they aren't even audio files at all, and just they are just ignored.
I know there's no foobar bfstm plugin yet... I was kind of bugging someone to integrate it into vgmstream because it's way more useful and convenient that way than having a command-line tool. Also, one last question before I shut up (for now); what are those two-channel percussion tracks in MK8 used for? I thought they played while you were in first place, but I just tested it on-console and didn't hear it, unless it doesn't work in vs. races and is GP exclusive or something...
As of right now, they're unplayable. We're trying to get it working but it's just a weird format to begin with since it doesn't follow your typical dsp spec.

Pikmin 3 is a dream come true. 8-channels and I have complete control over them to mix them as I please, mwahaha! It sounds glorious too. Truly fantastic. I haven't even dug into anything else yet. Thanks a lot for these rips.
The g1l files are some form of 16-bit PCM, i can get them to play somewhat in audacity but the actual audio is low and is mostly distorted.
sample mp3: (beware loud distortion, put down the volume, listen carefully and you can hear the TLOZ theme playing behind the noise) https://app.box.com/s/h6cyp1cneimbdk5wkxeg
NSMBWiiU uses BFWAVs which play oddly with vgmstream. I'm guessing stereo and multi-channel BFWAVS are improperly interleaved.
BFWAV fixed. Should be in the official and foobar2000 builds soonish. This build should work with everything so far aside from 4 of the SM3DW tracks. Slightly different type of format.
Does anyone know why those 4 SM3DW tracks don't play? Also, 2 of them are obviously the circus tracks, but what are the other two? And on a similar note, where's Beat Block Galaxy?

If the intro to the circus theme is separate there are about 6 different versions (intro, 4 looped streams, ending), otherwise, there's 5, which means either 10 channels or 12 channels.
Colour Panel challenges probably have at least 7 parts, which could be up to 14 channels altogether. But then, that doesn't explain why they don't just "not play", but don't even get recognized as an audio file at all.
Also Color Panel Challenge might be strange, I remember a segment where only a bit of it played for the first part. I think it was in Sunshine Seaside.
Alright, so those play on my end. Only issue we have with those is they have a slightly different structure compared to the other BFSTMS such as the loop flag. Since it reports a zero value back to vgmstream (probably has it in a different place because it adds a new RGEN block where DATA usually is) and avoids looping.
I don't understand, sorry.. I rip PS2/Wii/DS/PSX/PC/Xbox360 games, sorry, I'm not experimented in the Wii U rip. Can you explain to me how to convert these files? How to convert .bfstm .bfsar (variant of .brsar ?), .sarc etc? please?

I have a Mac OS X and I'm trying to get the Pikmin 3 bfstm files into a format that my computer can read. Are there any programs that can do this with? Thank you!

Any updates on the files for NEW Super Mario Bros. U?
You have to dump the bfwavs out of the bcsar for NSMBU. I'm working on getting everything sorted with proper names though, especially since it seems some of these tracks are supposed to play together.
It's not my top priority for now, so please be patient with that.
Two questions: When we understand bcsar/bfsar better, will we have programs to dump/rebuild them? More importantly: Sonic Lost World tracks (including the two DLC ones)--possible and just not done yet, or can we not dump that yet? That was pretty much number 1 on my mental list of games I wanted ripped, right up there with MK8 and 3D World.
@Claus Yes. If anyone else is interested in helping research bcsar/bfsar, I'll make time to document my findings so it's easier to make progress. Of course rebuilding them won't get attention unless file replacing becomes a huge thing for 3DS and Wii U.
I'm not sure about the DLC thing, but I'm sure a regular rip will turn up. I fear it maybe be HCA though.
@MurraySkull I currently use VGMToolBox. You can throw this XML into the plugins/AdvancedCutter folder. Make sure you click "Load" after selecting "Nintendo Wii U - FWAV Streams" from the dropdown menu.

Pikmin 3 by Zorg2.0 at 2:33 PM EDT on October 20, 2014
I got a hold of my friend's PC. I have tried to use vgmstream but I only can get a WAV of the main sequence of music for Pikmin 3. Any advice?
Oh, I had nearly forgotten about HCA... I don't see why it would be, though, considering that 1. Sega always uses adx, and 2. Lost World 3DS used adx. But I guess we'll have to wait and see...
They don't always use adx. 3DS version sucked quality wise, so I wouldn't expect crap ADX with the Wii U version. Also, it's listed as using ADX2 (HCA) on the official Criware site.
Holy crap people. All of these questions. For the moment, no one else is able to decrypt the stuff, just crediar and the few who know how to as well. Things will come at their own pace so requests are useless. Take what you can get. Support and tools will come with that same pace as what you see available is what we have as well. Patience people, please. Also regarding the question with vgmstream. Its really meant to be used with something like winamp since the test exe is merely meant to do a quick conversion with 2 loops and 10 sec fade for any file run through it. If you really want to use just test.exe, run it through a command prompt and you'll see a list of options to customize your output file. Yes, it will always be a wav dump but at least you can have it loop whatever number of times you want and do whatever you want with it like the noobs at ffshrine or some other forum who upload mp3 conversions of the stuff or flac for the matter and claim lossless (HAHAHAHA right) or even claim it being the ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK when it's just a gamerip. Or use with audacity, sound forge, or whatever player that suits your needs for playing these wavs unless you use winamp, audacious, or foobar2000 to play the original files. Some of the original files may not play correctly on everyone's set up depending on their sound card capabilities such as being able to play all channels and down mix them or not at all and have to split them with something like audacity. Now, regarding the tools for extracting stuff from bfsars or any other archive, just use vgmtoolbox. It's been here forever and we're constantly trying to give snakemeat input in updating it for whatever we find. Just use the advanced cutter for simple finds f you know what magic bytes are and know how to read file headers. Now if you're pretty good at read virtual file systems from archives like bfsars, you can use the VFS cutter/extractor to get the stuff out more organized. Sorry if I sound dick-ish but we have lives too :)
I think soneek fixed it already. I added his updated meta to vgmstream and the example files I had played fine. Just have to wait for it to be added to the fb2k build or hcs to release the official vgmstream build unless you want my build for winamp.
TUK, vgmstream r1040 is the latest. The foobar build was also recently updated and is at r1039-9-gc96d86b. But I expect an update for it to come soon as bxaimc basically implied.

Yo everyone, chill out to the lovely Twilight River theme from Pikmin 3, with all the variations spread out into one nice, long track. I think it sounds fantastic, with that cool, classic Pikmin-style disjointed, yet bright and lush, sound. Hope y'all enjoy.
I'm very happy to have been able to make this and I owe the opportunity to you, crediar, so thanks a lot!
Wait, if r1029 is from October 18, did we really go through 11 updates in just 2 days? Unless I have a later version, but the thing that says what version it is was just not updated? It says "vgmstream plugin r 1029M Oct 18 2014"
