Can the bootSound.btsnd files be played yet?
by robotortoise at 1:33 PM EDT on June 15, 2015
> I understand the Wii U can render that, but why bother upsampling when the raw files are at their natural rate?

Well, does it take less CPU power to use 41khz files? Maybe that's why.
by Kurausukun at 6:56 PM EDT on June 15, 2015
No, it does not use an appreciable amount of CPU. Also, we should probably end this discussion if we ever want to see crediar upload stuff for us again.
by soneek at 8:12 PM EDT on June 15, 2015
.btsnd is supported in vgmstream. The main formats that need work are the ones in Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101. It's newer Wwise stuff.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 10:29 AM EDT on June 16, 2015
Yoshi's Woolly World is coming out in Europe in 10 days. Crediar's European, right? I'm sure I remember reading that somewhere.

Nope, I was just pointing out the Splatoon (EUR) was dumped. And that I couldn't get it to download. And that I didn't really want to download it.

And then I realised that crediar had uploaded splatoon's audio files.

Bayonetta 2 Music by larsenv at 9:18 AM EDT on June 21, 2015
I was just given this Bayonetta 2 dump to share, now we have the music. Credit goes to Pokeglobe and NWPlayer123 for dumping and sharing:

Bayonetta 2 Music

Enjoy. There's the movie files in there if anyone wants to get the music out of them.
bnkextr not working by DarkSSJShinji at 9:17 PM EDT on June 22, 2015
Well, I tried using bnkextr on some of the .bnk files from Bayonetta 2, aaaaand nothing's happening.
I even used the Command Prompt and it would either show nothing or display THIS on screen.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say Bayonetta 2's .bnk files are not supported for bnkextr...yet.

Dragon Quest X Music rip? by ChucklesProduction at 2:28 AM EDT on June 26, 2015
Just curious, has anyone bothered to rip the music files off of Dragon Quest X ver.1, ver.2 and/or ver.3 yet? I'm quite keen on making an original sound version with those files :)
by TheUltimateKoopa at 8:28 AM EDT on June 26, 2015
Yoshi's Woolly World rip soon?
by crediar at 3:03 PM EDT on June 26, 2015
This isn't a request but would be nice to have the music of Yoshi's wolly world!
by TheUltimateKoopa at 3:49 AM EDT on June 27, 2015
Of course there is a music player thing in the game but everyone knows that rips beat line-in recordings :P
by Uikri at 5:44 AM EDT on June 28, 2015
Regarding Bayonetta 2, what is a .bnk file? Is there any way I could play them in foobar?

Also, STRM_World in the Splatoon rip doesn't play. I get the following playback error: Unrecoverable playback error: Invalid audio stream specifications

Additionally, was a newer version of that test.exe script (vgmstream-bfstm-test) ever released, or can we mix channel pairs via foobar now? I'd like to have a listen to the different channels in the Splatoon music.

edited 12:13 PM EDT June 28, 2015
by TheUltimateKoopa at 10:37 AM EDT on June 28, 2015
With STRM_World, it might be related to having more channels than the version of vgmstream is able to play simultaneously. A way to get this to play, involves having vgmstream.exe, probably a couple of other 'dll' files, and a cmd.exe in the same location as STRM_World, then opening cmd.exe and I think typing "vgmstream.exe -o [filename.wav] STRM_World.bfstm" (or whatever the file extension is). [filename.wav] can be anything.

After you've got the WAV output, open it in Audacity (or whatever you want to use), then, usually, each pair of channels corresponds to a single track (each pair being the left and right audio respectively), so on the top channel of each pair, "Make Stereo Track" (i.e. on channels 1, 3, 5, 7 etc, so that channel 1 pairs with channel 2, and so on, otherwise, if you pair channel 2 with 3, you get the right audio of one variation, and the left audio of another). Obviously with some multiple streams, rather than each version being separate, it might have combinations, e.g. a drum beat may be added in certain situations, or more instruments may be added.

by Uikri at 8:30 PM EDT on June 28, 2015
Would it happen to be
"vgmstream.exe -o output.wav -l #ofloops -2 setofchannels input.bfstm"? Because that's what it was with the old prototype bfstm-test version of vgmstream. So for instance:

vgmstream.exe -o STRM_World(1).wav -l 10 -2 0 STRM_World.bfstm

vgmstream.exe -o STRM_World(2).wav -l 10 -2 1 STRM_World.bfstm

etc., etc.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 11:36 AM EDT on June 29, 2015
Well you can put the -2 0 part if you want a separate WAV for each one, or just do
vgmstream -o STRM_World.wav -l 10 STRM_World.bfstm

Also, why 10 loops?
by MurraySkull at 5:52 PM EDT on July 2, 2015
Yoshi's Woolly World? Pretty sure Crediar can get us this since he has hacked into the game to access the test level.
by robotortoise at 6:50 PM EDT on July 2, 2015
Not denying he can, but hacking a game's RAM and extracting game files are two different things.

And rule 1 of this thread, bro
by crediar at 8:31 AM EDT on July 3, 2015
You might have missed my post that I'm no longer posting music, as people constantly didn't follow those simple rules.

Making requests is pointless to begin with it's obvious what people want.
Also games cost money...
And the often requested xenoblades is only out in japan importing that would cost quite a lot, who is willing to spent 70EUR+ just so everyone else gets the music for a game and then you can't even play it.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 9:11 AM EDT on July 3, 2015
Who wasn't following rules? Fuck you, whoever it was. I know I was following them (well I wasn't intentionally not following them).

Also, is this the post you're referring to?
"This might have probably been my last upload since apparently people don't follow the thread rules left and right."

by Kurausukun at 5:25 PM EDT on July 3, 2015
If you're talking about Xenoblade X, then I have it. I just don't know how to dump it (I don't think there are any exploits for latest system version). If someone could tell me how, I'd be more than happy to dump it for everyone, including me.

by RebeccaSugar at 10:14 AM EDT on July 4, 2015
Since crediar is now pissed as all hell and absolutely won't want to go back to dumping rips, what should this thead be about? Should it still be about dumping but crediar-less, or is these some way ALL OF US can make it up to the guy, suggestions are obviously welcome!
by larsenv at 7:49 AM EDT on July 5, 2015
That's bad.

If Crediar still doesn't want to dump the music since people didn't follow the rules, I guess we can rip and share the music.
@Crediar by ryanrocks462 at 9:20 AM EDT on July 6, 2015
@Crediar lol buying games, why didn't you just download the scene releases and extract the music files from those? Piracy is always the best solution :3

Yoshi's Woolly World

Continuing the 32khz trend... Also there are a few PCM bfstms though they continuously click.
by Benjamin at 9:31 PM EDT on July 6, 2015
My my, there's a lot of different versions of tracks. Including some songs that might be unused AFAIK. All those numbers seem intersting, maybe they're the revisions they had?
by Hiccup at 1:27 AM EDT on July 7, 2015
@ryanrocks462
Maybe some people don't like piracy. :P
Also, downloading Wii U images is a pain.

@Anyone who has the files
Can you tell me the location of the sound folder, and what it is called?

@Benjamin
The one/four digit numbers after the name do seem interesting. I don't think I've seen those with Wii U/3DS streams before.

This filenaming seems almost as unorganised as Kirby's Epic Yarn :P

Click pcm16 BFSTMs are also a thing with Wii Sports Club. I'm not sure how to fix that yet, but anyone is welcome to look into it.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 11:42 AM EDT on July 7, 2015
Well, as soneek probably will have worked out soon enough, I've "done" some YWW stuff. A few of them are already on BrawlBRSTMs3 (or at least queued).

I just hope that when the site goes offline or down, or really slow, it doesn't affect the upload queue too much (like somehow kill the queue).
by soneek at 1:47 PM EDT on July 7, 2015
I fixed the pcm16 decoding issue. It was an error with the starting offset that I hadn't noticed months ago when I first wrote the meta, so I apologize to everyone about that.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 2:31 PM EDT on July 7, 2015
I'm still confused about the variations. Some of them are the exact same, some of them have slight differences.... and what's all them "PakkunRet..." things?
by starerik at 2:44 PM EDT on July 7, 2015
"Pakkun" is the Japanese name for the Piranha plants, if that helps.
by soneek at 2:54 PM EDT on July 7, 2015
Thanks for the Woolly World rip. Just an announcement to anyone sharing rips, please include bootSound.btsnd if you're able to obtain it. Some methods of ripping don't have support for that, so it's understandable to be missing it in that case.
by Benjamin at 2:58 PM EDT on July 7, 2015
TheUltimateKoopa: I think PakkunRet might've been beta songs for the World 4 special stage. Maybe they wanted to use the special stage music for the game to keep tradition or something.

"I think PakkunRet might've been beta songs for the World 4 special stage. Maybe they wanted to use the special stage music for the game to keep tradition or something."

Err...
or maybe they are (or were) for the packun (piranha plant) boss battle?
by (!!!!!) at 2:45 AM EDT on July 8, 2015
Yoshi's Woolly World

@soneek Added the bootsound. It's not an original jingle but a shortened version of "Y-Spring0507-32k". I'll be waiting for that new build of vgmstream.

@Benjamin Yes it looks like they must have intended the game to be longer and had the composers write the songs in advance. There are old versions and PCM versions still here so they were sloppy on recompling builds. PakkunRet had to have definitely been the intended track for World 4's special course and discarded for consistency.

@hiccup The sound folder is "data\content\sound" if you're still looking. The PakkunRet was probably not for the regular boss as it already has an original theme as well as the game having a stage after where Naval Piranha returns.

@Karausukun So someone uploaded it and I missed it? At least we have the Movie files and BTSND now which is included in there as well. :P
by Kurausukun at 11:46 AM EDT on July 9, 2015
I had uploaded it in another thread here a while back, but it got taken down. I figured it didn't matter since I assumed crediar would upload it soon enough, but it looks like he hasn't, so I'll reupload it: Here. If you have the OST, you probably don't need it, though; all of the music is at 32KHz (which is odd, considering it's SEGA), and I don't think there are any tracks that aren't on the OST, but there you go.

I got three so you guys can rip any music from them:

0005000010133800 = GEOM
000500001017AE00 = Tank! Tank! Tank! (DL)

by soneek at 6:36 AM EDT on July 19, 2015
Title keys are only freely accessible on NUS for updates, and system titles. It's a no go for base retail games. You'd need someone to give you the title key from a decrypted disc.
insert title here :P by larsenv at 4:51 PM EDT on July 19, 2015
This is for NUS, this is different...

I can't find a ticket to decrypt these but gonna post them since I did the work to find them with network dumping...

0005000010171F00 = Pushmo World
by (!!!!!) at 5:55 PM EDT on July 19, 2015
@larsenv

At the moment you can only download the games in encrypted chunks. Uwizard is useful to download updates which has the bootsound loading music. In my case I'm currently looking for the title key for NES Remix 2 if you have that one.
by Kurausukun at 6:04 PM EDT on July 19, 2015

Mainly the larger files. Does anyone know why?
by soneek at 12:41 PM EDT on July 29, 2015
I'm keeping an eye out for the Smash update files. Mot on their servers yet.

Hyrule Warriors has some 8, 10, 12 channel songs, so they won't play in foobar2000 or winamp. You'll have to decode them manually and delete channels, downmix, whatever.

by TheUltimateKoopa at 1:16 PM EDT on July 30, 2015

@TheUltimateKoopa: It's not b?stm files. It's G1L files. If I open them as raw data, I can hear a portion of the sound but most is just a load of hissing noise.

Besides, I have to manually select bit/sample rate, small/big endians, soundchannel, etc. when doing that. And it's impossible to do if you don't know how many channels they have to begin with.

by Kurausukun at 1:07 PM EDT on August 2, 2015
I'm not as knowledgeable in the 3DS portion, but I know that for the Wii U, you need System Menu 5.3.2 because we don't have an exploit for 5.4.0 yet. Soneek uses TCP Gecko and caffiine to replace files IIRC. I don't know what other ways there are, nor do I know how to do exploits on 3DS.
