Thanks! I can't seem to find the link for the Splatoon update music. Was it released on here? If not, what were the source files people used to make the BRSTMs of them on BCM?

Hi, crediar. I can't seem to access the Wii U sound directory anymore. Is anything wrong on your end?

Check the link in the first post of this thread, I made a rare exception an edited it to link to crediar's new IP.

I was not aware the address had changed.

Thanks!

Hey, has anyone done a Xenoblade X rip yet?

I ask because there are quite a few songs in the OST that play once and then turn into an entirely different song. I'd like to see if a rip turns up anything that could be more properly looped.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 5:36 AM EDT on September 5, 2015
@Uikri? Was the link on the first page when you looked?

Wow, thank you crediar!

People, mind that there are tracks with 10 Channels. I recommend using JACK with Cog on OSX for better output routing.

EDIT: The highest channel count is 14

I don't think Control has been paying attention to a single thing that was said about streams with more than ... I think 8 or 10 channels not being playable that way...

Your audio player needs to support multiple channel outputs. I couldn't get foobar to downmix properly with Channel Mixer nor with any Matrix Mixer all these plugins can only work with up to 7.1 (8 ch).
I could get Winamp to play more than 14 channels using not DirectSound but the WaveOut Plugin.

Install http://jackaudio.org/ on your machine and use that as the output device in Winamp. Then you can use the JackRouter to route and downmix the channels you want to whereever you want to.

OMG Thanks Crediar for the Super Mario Music!

Alternatively, you could also use vgmstream test.exe to output a multichannel wav file, put it in your sound editor of choice and play around with it however you want.

I noticed that test.exe also comes with an option to output one single stereo channel pair (-number), but I can't get it to work.
I'm using "test -o M3_BGM_Airship_edit.wav -1 M3_BGM_Airship_edit.bfstm" but it always tells me "unknown option -- 1".

Does anybody know the right command?
by TheUltimateKoopa at 6:07 PM EDT on September 18, 2015
Splashman? I tried that... but it didn't work. And I used the latest vgmstream (or at least the latest version I have).
by rebooter23 at 7:15 PM EDT on September 18, 2015
It says:

"-2 N: only output the Nth (first is 0) set of stereo channels"

So the right command would be:

"test -o M3_BGM_Airship_edit.wav -2 1 M3_BGM_Airship_edit.bfstm"

Also, why don't you try JACK?
It's really helpful and easy.

You mean we need to purchase a physical thing?
by Splashman at 12:31 AM EDT on September 19, 2015
@rebooter

Thanks, that did the trick.
If the command itself is "-2", no wonder it didn't work. :P

Also, I did give JACK a try. I'm not sure if we have the same version, but it seems so damn complicated that I don't even know where to start configuring it.

@TUK
What doesn't work for you? Did you remember to put libg7221_decode.dll, libmpg123-0.dll, libvorbis.dll, in_vgmstream.dll and test.exe in the same dir?
You can get the DLLs from here.
Then use "test -o output.wav inputfile.brstm" to get a multichannel wav, or put "-2 channelnumber" inbetween for each stereo wav.

edited 12:31 AM EDT September 19, 2015
by rebooter23 at 7:52 AM EDT on September 19, 2015
@Splashman
Yeah, it's pretty confusing to have it "-2".
Anyways JACK works like this: It creates a virtual soundcard and that virtual soundcard plugs it's own output into your real soundcard/output device. You can decide yourself how many input channels your virtual soundcard will have available. You can setup this in the preferences of JACK (which is not that hard, try it).

Then you have to actually route the signal. You have to tell your virtual soundcard that it should route inputchannels 1-14 to outputchannel 1-2. This is done by using the provided app called jackqlt or jackpilot. You don't even have to bother what other possibilities you have with this app (It's huge!) but just have a lookout for "routing". There you have an overview of all the available channels, very easily clickable to connect them.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 8:23 AM EDT on September 19, 2015
I had the dlls, yes. Except in_vgmstream.dll.

It seems to work now.... (maybe I typed in something wrong, like the input file name)....

This is exactly what I got:

vgmstream -o test.wav M1_BGM_Ground_Edit.bfstm (I have it named as vgmstream.exe, not test.exe)
decoding M1_BGM_Ground_Edit.bfstm
sample rate 32000 Hz
channels: 14
loop start: 86016 samples (2.6880 seconds)
loop end: 2850816 samples (89.0880 seconds)
stream total samples: 2850816 (89.0880 seconds)
encoding: Gamecube "DSP" 4-bit ADPCM
layout: interleave with short last block
last block interleave: 0x1b80 bytes
metadata from: Nintendo Wii U FSTM Header
samples to play: 5935616 (185.4880 seconds)

My theory is that for some reason I typed "brstm" in the input file name extension instead of "bfstm". Either that or it's one of those strange things where something suddenly works for no reason?

@satorio
I think it's a bad idea to downmix all channels in one go. The game mixes additional channels into the stream depending on the current level building progress - I would call it "flow music". You don't get that impression when having them downmixed.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 7:18 PM EDT on October 8, 2015
@rebooter23 Are you sure?

I know which channels are used, are random, but does the amount of 'stuff' in the level determine how many channels are played?
by rebooter23 at 10:49 PM EDT on October 8, 2015
Isn't it? Haven't played it yet unfortunately, but in the youtube videos you can observe to have a progression with having more items available and being longer in stage.

Quick question: Anyone got Game & Wario's SFX and voice clips?
by soneek at 6:04 PM EST on November 17, 2015
Just a warning for anyone that gets their hands on the Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash streams. They may not decode in vgmstream right away, even if they're bfstm. In the last 2 3DS Camelot games, they used the bcstm header and extension, but had IMA ADPCM song data. If this ends up being the case again, let me know and it should be an easy update to fix.

by soneek at 1:15 PM EST on November 23, 2015
The music fits the gameplay. I'm just disappointed at the lack of content compared to all the previous games. TIEBREAK is my favorite one this time around.
by The12thGripper at 2:59 PM EST on November 23, 2015
I'm not very surprised by the lack of music but it's still shocking to me how little the game has to offer. Love me some Sakuraba so I'll take whatever I can get, thanks for sharing crediar and soneek!
by TabuuAkugun at 3:15 PM EST on November 23, 2015
Fitting, maybe. But it's disappointing compared to previous Tennis titles. In content as well. It's just bland overall, I find.
by MurraySkull at 2:30 AM EST on November 24, 2015
TabuuAkugun, I have to agree. Even the less-than-stellar quality soundtrack of Open is better, as it at least includes Mario remixes, which this does not (due to an appalling lack of themed courts).

> The original XC audio was sequenced, after all.

It was not. Not at all. I don't know where you got that idea.
by AnonRunzes at 11:01 PM EST on December 5, 2015
@Therius Shulk - Do you have any proof, though? Because the Xenoblade X's music is on a streamed format(sans CRI ADX).
by Kurausukun at 2:02 AM EST on December 6, 2015
Yeah, hopefully someone will rip it soon. I'm guessing they probably used ADX only because the original also used ADX, but it's definitely not sequenced considering the songs play from start to end (including fadeout) before looping.
by AnonRunzes at 10:55 AM EST on December 6, 2015
I have all the ADX files from that game. What I have to do first is to compress all of them first using 7-Zip, then I can upload it to some file sharing site I'm mostly familiar of. Just give me some time, ok?
by TheUltimateKoopa at 11:35 AM EST on December 6, 2015

by AnonRunzes at 6:45 PM EST on December 6, 2015
So MEGA has been uploading the file much slower than before... any ideas?
by Mouser X at 8:08 PM EST on December 6, 2015
So, I got the Special Edition of XCX, and it comes with a flash drive (1GB? Geez...) preloaded with 10 songs from the game. However, the "DRM" it's equipped with is invasive, and lousy (it does almost nothing to prevent you from copying the files. It assumes you use a music player that can't copy files). I was about to download the OST (if I can't even use something I paid for, I might as well get the "free" version), but I decided to check here first, since, obviously, the game would get ripped eventually (sooner than later, and it looks like I was right). Glad to know I was right. Looking forward to the upload being available. Too bad about the lousy looping though.... Maybe I'll get the OST anyway, to compare.

Thanks for you guys being awesome (and ripping/uploading music in its original formats, for collectors like me). Mouser X over and out.
by Kurausukun at 10:29 PM EST on December 6, 2015
If MEGA isn't working (which it should), I would try Mediafire.

Also, Mouser, the full OST has been ripped since it first came out months ago.

by AnonRunzes at 3:55 PM EST on December 7, 2015
@Therius Shulk - The .adx files are more than just "90-something songs in the game", but I wouldn't spoil it too much.
by Kurausukun at 6:08 PM EST on December 7, 2015
So are you going to upload them somewhere? Or at least tell us where you found them?
by AnonRunzes at 6:13 PM EST on December 7, 2015
@Kurausukun - Although I'm still uploading the whole thing, I've found those files at an already-extracted Japanese version of the game I've got from around the dark depths of the internet.
by Kurausukun at 6:43 PM EST on December 7, 2015
Okay... but why are you so reluctant to say exactly where you found them? I mean, it's great that you're uploading them, but I'd love to look at the source.

@Kurausukun - I've found them at the /content/stream/bgm/ folder of the already-extracted game data.
