Cloud music?
by soneek at 9:57 AM EST on December 28, 2015
The cloud music is only his jingle (looping and nonlooping), main battle theme, and boss battle theme. No remixes at all. You still want it?
by The12thGripper at 7:55 PM EST on December 28, 2015
@soneek

For collection purposes, yes I would like his victory jingle. (both of them? I never knew there was a non-looping version)
by LuigiBlood at 1:10 PM EST on December 29, 2015
Cloud's jingle is actually remade. It's similar to the original but I thought it sounded really obvious that it was remade. Listen to both, the difference is clear.

I've already finished the game and loved all the music.
Thanks in advance to anyone who decides to wrip this game.

I've never played Bayonetta, so I don't know if there's any difference between the Wii U port and the original versions, but if the music is the same between them, the Bayonetta 1 music has already been ripped at psf3.joshw.info.

do I need the new foobar build, or is their something I'm doing wrong?

By the way, if it really IS the last update of Super Smash Bros. Wii U, then I need all the audio rips of said game(as long as the filename is unaltered), along with the updates or DLCs, to be compiled in one package. I'm not kidding.

by Rew at 12:07 AM EST on March 6, 2016
I wonder how long it'll be before the Twilight Princess HD music is up (in fact, I wonder if it's streamed the same way it was in the Wii/GC versions)?

Not a request, mind you, just mere curiosity.
by Kurausukun at 1:05 AM EST on March 6, 2016
Weren't a lot of TP songs also sequenced? Though unlike WWHD, the music seems to be exactly the same this time around, so I don't see what good a rip would do. Knowing Nintendo, they're definitely not higher quality than the old ones.
by shrimp at 1:45 AM EST on March 6, 2016
Seeing as how the TP HD soundtrack has 32kHz cutoff songs (the ones that are sequenced, like Death Mountain and Kakariko to name a couple), I doubt the game music will be of any higher frequency. Typical Nintendo.
by Farrenhyte at 3:30 AM EST on March 6, 2016
Regardless on whether or not the improvement of the soundtrack was significant, it was most certainly changed. This comes from actual comparisons done by a Zelda freak himself- I would absolutely request a full clean rip of the HD version if I could get it.

by starerik at 9:12 AM EST on March 6, 2016
@Farrenhyte What was the original music compared with?
by soneek at 9:38 AM EST on March 6, 2016
The streams for Twilight Princess HD are exact copies of the GC streams. I didn't check sequences yet, but it also seems to be the case.
by starerik at 9:44 AM EST on March 6, 2016
And here I thought they had rendered the sequences as streams like MM3D.
by Farrenhyte at 2:23 PM EST on March 6, 2016
Now, do forgive me in the end if I'm incorrect- the soundtrack for the original game I have may be lower quality. But the instruments in, say, the Ganondorf Swordfight theme, sound quite different in comparison between the original and that of the HD Sound Selection.
by Farrenhyte at 2:24 PM EST on March 6, 2016
I wouldn't lie and tell you it's a huge difference, though.
by dj4uk6cjm at 3:04 PM EST on March 6, 2016
How do we rip the sequences from the Wii U version? Please someone be absolutely sure the game uses sequences.
by starerik at 3:37 PM EST on March 6, 2016
@Farrenhyte The instruments sound exactly the same to me. The CD has been tampered with, though. The music has been remastered, re-mixed and been fed to a LOT of reverb to make it sound beefier. But I believe the in-game music is simply copy and paste from the original game.
by Farrenhyte at 4:17 PM EST on March 6, 2016
Yeah, I think you may be right. It's a damn shame Nintendo didn't /really/ remaster the music. Had some of the best songs.
by robotortoise at 4:27 PM EST on March 6, 2016
I dunno, The Wind Waker HD used higher bitrate samples than the original, so the music was a bit higher quality. I wouldn't be surprised if Twilight Princess HD did the same.
by starerik at 4:30 PM EST on March 6, 2016
Not sure of that. I extracted the samples from both versions of TWW and they were the same quality.
by Farrenhyte at 4:36 PM EST on March 6, 2016
There is absolutely no question, Wind Waker's soundtrack was remastered. Very clearly- clearer at higher volumes.
by starerik at 5:56 PM EST on March 6, 2016
Many instruments were replaced with new ones in TWW, but the technical audio quality remains the same.

Some sequences were remade 100% and rendered as streams while some sequences got random samples replaced (like Jalhalla, the accordion was replaced and the organ in Gohdan if I remember correctly) and others were identical to the original like Dragon Roost and Forest Haven.

Even the CD is locked at 32khz, but appears "higher quality" because of CD mastering. The old TWW CD and the new were mastered by different people in different decades.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 12:18 AM EST on March 7, 2016
An example of a clear difference between TWW and TWWHD, is Molgera's 2nd battle theme:

Wind Waker

Wind Waker HD
by starerik at 1:11 AM EST on March 7, 2016
And as I said, some were 100% remade (although that tubular bell might be the same, hard to tell.) Man, the remade stuff truly sounds terrible. Like a fan project made by a 13 year old. Like the early ZREO stuff.

Oh, there's no doubt the originals are far better. It's really depressing. If they were going to change them at all, they should have put in at least a little effort.
by Farrenhyte at 2:32 AM EST on March 7, 2016
Yeah. Gotta admit, that track was definitely butchered in the remaster. But in all honesty, do take a look at better song comparisons, such as:

by robotortoise at 6:24 PM EST on March 7, 2016
Dang, that sucks. So Twilight Princess HD uses the same exact samples as the original?

That sucks. But it's surprising that the game was originally at 32KHz to begin with. We're both versions, Wii and GC, at 32KHz, or only the Wii version?

by ArcticJaguar725 at 11:13 PM EST on March 11, 2016
@robotortoise It should be noted that the streams coming from Twilight Princess are actually sampled at 44.1kHz as opposed to 32kHz (at least for Wii; can't confirm for GC). You're also probably better off listening to the game's (streamed) rips than the tracks from the remastered CD to be honest.
by Kurausukun at 12:01 AM EST on March 12, 2016
Have to update saying I was wrong--the GC's streams are actually also sampled at 44100Hz, which is super weird for Nintendo.
by SonicHyuga at 1:17 AM EST on March 12, 2016
Here is the update for Super Mario Maker. Only 4 streams.
by robotortoise at 2:41 AM EST on March 12, 2016
Wow, that IS super weird. It's also really impressive. I didn't even know the GameCube and Wii COULD do 41KHz!
by Kurausukun at 5:33 AM EST on March 12, 2016
...They can probably do much more... Sonic Colors, for example, uses 48KHz streams. I'm not aware of any games that go above that, but it's certainly not a hardware limitation.
by starerik at 4:40 PM EST on March 12, 2016
I googled and found some Dolphin thread where they say that the hardware only outputs 32khz. Also, this is in no way proof.. but the audio engine Wwise outputs 48khz on all consoles except Wii (and 3DS): hello
[Pokkén Tournament] by Vector Harbor at 4:50 PM EDT on March 13, 2016
I know it's a bit too early but it is possible to get pokkén tournament rip this week pretty please...?

I'm conscious that video game still cost money
by hcs at 6:23 PM EDT on March 13, 2016
According to Nintendo, the GC does 48 KHz. That's also the sample rate of the hardware disc streaming (DTK/ADP files), which is used in a few games.

So unlike N64 where you could just set the sample rate to anything, if you're decoding 32 KHz samples you'll have to resample that (probably on the dedicated DSP), but that's still probably cheaper than mixing everything at 48 KHz if you have more than a few samples going at once.
by Kurausukun at 6:53 PM EDT on March 13, 2016
And I'm assuming the Wii uses the same DSP as the GC, right (in fact, I'm almost positive)? So both the Wii and GC DSP output at 48KHz... that's good to know.
by nothingtosay at 2:51 AM EDT on March 15, 2016
I don't know if you might have run into a thread I made on the Dolphin forums back in November of 2013, but tueidj explained"DSP output is 32KHz for nearly all retail/SDK apps, a couple of games (Aggressive Inline, BMX XXX) and some homebrew uses 48KHz. DTK audio is always 48KHz (48043 according to documentation), the hardware *may* support 32KHz but I haven't ever seen it used.
However the DAC is fixed at 48KHz, with a hardware resampler before it controlled by bit 6 (DSP) and bit 1 (DTK) of the AI control register."

I recorded from my Wii music that is a 48 kHz stream on disc, with frequencies going all the way up to the Nyquist rate, and what I got back had frequencies going up no higher than 18 kHz. I guess the resampling uses either sinc interpolation or a very steep low-pass filter.

This example is from Shiren the Wanderer. Obviously, the top is recorded from the Wii in-game and the bottom is the original stream file converted with vgmstream.

Not really sure why Nintendo would put anything higher than 32 kHz on their own games when their sound staff would presumably know it was gonna get downsampled. I'm certainly not complaining, though!

EDIT: Whoa, sorry about how huge that picture is. Don't know if there's an easy way to do thumbnails on this forum.

edited 2:54 AM EDT March 15, 2016
by hcs at 3:12 AM EDT on March 15, 2016
Hm, very interesting to see the recording vs. directly decoding the stream. Are you sure that your setup will properly record those higher frequencies?

It might be possible (dumb as it would be) that they are using the 32Khz mode and resampling all their 48khz stuff down.

Might be interesting to look at a game that uses 48KHz PCM, though I can't think of one, to see if that gets lowpassed as well...

Here's YAGCD for the AI register as tueidj mentioned.
by nothingtosay at 3:10 PM EDT on March 15, 2016
Yeah, my setup can record at 192 kHz and does indeed capture frequencies all the way up to 96 kHz, albeit with an ever-increasing noise floor starting at about half that; still well out of the range of what we're dealing with here.

Regarding The Wonderful 101, I've just put together a working decoder as ima_rejigger5.zip, should work on all Wwise IMA ADPCM stuff.

This could conceivably be added to vgmstream, I guess, but that decoder at least is usable. I'm not 100% confident in it, but it sounds very clean, unlike the crap I was putting out with the old ima_rejiggers. The whole idea of reinterleaving stuff for MS IMA was a dead end, a relatively recent program from spider91 showed me the way.

Side note: I'm not actually 100% sure these are all of the files (though I'm pretty confident they are) because the only reliable source I had was an undub over at wiiuisos. I do actually own the JP version of the game, though, and on that note, is there any way for me to dump my game just to double-check it against this?
