Geez todays the big day and still no soundtrack to download >_< now I'm getting inpatient lol.
by ptto911 at 7:41 PM EDT on April 22, 2016
I prefer to play the whole game and then listen to the soundtrack, so I first experienced it in the context of the game, and it will then remind me of the song with the game.
I think it means a bit more that way.

So people above, I understand the excitement, but if you can, try to play the game first.
It'll mean more that way :)

Thanks a lot! But is Nintendo for real with the 32khz sample rate? 2016?
by AnonRunzes at 10:56 PM EDT on April 23, 2016
@starerik - Nintendo is still Nintendo, though. I could resample their stuff for remastering purposes, but what can I do?

By the way, here is Star Fox Guard's .wem files. Includes all the .wem files, except the voices themselves, which are located in a specific folder designed for each language the voices were recorded in. They can be converted using the latest version of ww2ogg, but only some of them as you also need to use ima_rejigger5 for those as well since they are both Vorbis(most of the .wem files) and PCM(few of the .wem files) data.

Interesting. So it can export .wem files to .ogg, but not to other formats?

Thanks for finding a solution!
by hcs at 12:05 AM EDT on April 28, 2016
.wem can contain many different kinds of audio: PCM (as in a standard .wav), IMA ADPCM, XMA, etc. One format it supports is Vorbis, as in a .ogg, but it doesn't store it in the standard Ogg Vorbis format. ww2ogg takes those files and losslessly converts them to standard Ogg Vorbis. Converting to any other format (like PCM .wav or MP3) would involve decoding the Vorbis, which you can feel free to do, but ww2ogg tries to keep things as close as possible to the original data.

Does someone has done Tekken Tag 2 (Wii U Edition) ? Thanks.
by banshiryuu at 2:16 PM EDT on May 23, 2016
If anyone has access to Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, I noticed today that the files for all the level select and boss songs aren't with the rest of the soundtrack. They don't... sound sequenced, so maybe they're just hidden somewhere away from everything else for some reason?

If anyone's curious, it's the following songs in the sound test: 40, 41, 51, 63, 72, 74, 84, 86, 92, 93, 101, 102, 106, 107, 114
by Benjamin at 3:06 PM EDT on May 23, 2016
Most of the world songs are actually non-looped tracks that are BFWAVs, that are looped through sequencs. World 1 and the world map select are sequenced though. The world map select uses sequences for the guitar sound and the rest is one sample, World 1 is straight up sequenced though. The boss drums are also sequenced.

Unlike the NUS3 format understood by vgmstream, this doesn't use interleave. I don't have enough example files to figure out how to detect this, but here's a program that will take an .nus3bank like this and output .genh.

ttatd_genh 0.1

usage: ttatd_genh SONG_YUGEN.nus3bank SONG_YUGEN.genh

I have support for loops in there but no immediate way to test it.

You might've accidentally resampled when encoding the MP3s.

Here's a BGM only rip with corresponding POS files for the looping songs. Make sure to keep the same basename when convert the AAC audio to WAV. We don't have bootSound.btsnd right now, but otherwise this should be sufficient. I'll post a batch file for tagging songs if I can figure out the sound test -> file mapping.

Convert the AAC files to WAV, then you can use the .pos files with vgmstream.
by mariofan12ify at 11:09 PM EDT on September 25, 2016
Use the .pos files with vgmstream? I still don't know how to do that. :/
by soneek at 11:19 PM EDT on September 25, 2016
Pretend the .pos files are music files supported by vgmstream, and queue them in foobar2000, ONLY after converting the correspoinding aac files to wav, and keeping the same basename. BGM_BTL_BB_ch0_aac.aac should be converted as BGM_BTL_BB_ch0_aac.wav. I used ffmpeg, though foobar2000 might be usable for converting.
by mariofan12ify at 11:24 PM EDT on September 25, 2016

Er, you said "this" too many times in that sentence for me to understand. I mean that fsb-vorbis-extractor is capable of generating the headers (at least in some cases, it's what I used on Pokemon Go). You need to give it the original FSB5 file, though.

It has been an awesome generation for music fans like us, Tropical Freeze, Nintendoland remixes, Mario 3D World, especially Smash Bros 4 (660+ tracks) which caused 4.7TB traffic in just week and many more!

@crediar

Dammit, was just going to upload my rip of BotW.

You beat me too it. Oh well. 2 hours wasted.

Back to my Switch I guess (I borrowed my buddies Wii U version for this. Gotta call him back).

Kurausukun, there is a NPC playing an accordion and the music from it fades in and out depending on whether you walk right up to the NPC or stand a distance away from the NPC.

Would that qualify as "dual audio"? Or did you mean something else with that term?

Dual audio generally means you can switch the voiceover language between English and Japanese. Look at the previous parts of the conversation for context, I didn't just say that randomly.

Is there a mirror for BotW? The one at the IP Address keeps timing out.

You are welcome.

Yay! Thanks! What's everyone's preferred way to listen to these as-is and then convert them to something else?

foobar's vgmstream plugin is always the best.
