Ratatouille (GC) *.VAI by TheMygoshi at 10:09 AM EST on November 23, 2014
Hello I already ripped the PSP/PS2 version of this game but i have some problems with the wii/gamecube version. They have the .VAI extension and I can't extract them or open them correctly. It seems to bbe compressed ADPCM (gamecube adpcm for the gamecube I think).

Here's the file: https://mega.co.nz/#!4YwBlC4A!J97yQKklJsKS-cWfnsIWL9gSRkwJAbZrnDXhxyI_2Qg

Thanks if you can help me.

You're welcome!

Ok, mind providing a couple of more files for comparison. I think I've nailed it down to implement it to vgmstream but I need more to make sure it's consistent with other tracks.

Can I Share you other samples ?

Hey! I can play this file correctly with these settings:
Nintendo GameCube DSP 4-Bit ADPCM
Freq: 32000 hz
Channels: 2 (stereo)
Header Skip: 0x4090
Interleave: 0x4000
Coeffs: 0x2C and 0x2C (same)

I can hear the music like in game, but there's some crackling noises when I play it. I think its caused by the coeffs.

Try setting header skip to 0x4060 instead. That way the interleave aligns properly for that file. Also, I think the coefficients are actually at 0x0C (left) and 0x2C (right).

Oh, it works !!! Thanks !! But I found Ox2C but I didn't find 0x0C, why its 0x0C ?

My question to you is why you thought both coefficients were at 0x2C, especially considering it's stereo :P

If you look in a hex editor, you can see that there's 64 bytes (coefficients are 32 bytes per channel) which look pretty similar at 0x0C.

Is bxaimc still planning on implementing the .VAI format yet?
by Mygoshi at 7:56 PM EST on February 18, 2016
.VAI format is just for that game, so... I don't know if he'll do it
