The music files are hidden inside so called REZ Archives which can be extracted by a WinREZ but then it's just a mess of hundreds of WAV files.

It is a kinda sequenced format with streamed elements since the WAVs are played in a particular order put by command directly into the now deprecated DirectMusic feature of back then DirectX 8.

The DirectMusic players all produce bad quality, so how can we get this together?

How?

When Microsoft releases full source and detailed documentation to the DirectMusic component and it's predecessor ActiveX based control "Interactive Music Architecture". (which LithTech 1.x used, old but still relevant as it talks to the same Microsoft Synthesizer DirectX supplies)

Both of which ain't going to happen because money, software patents, etc etc etc.

I think it's not that complicated since you can access every snippet yourself already and also get them into right order because they are played with regards to a "tension level" set by the game.

The DirectMusic player provided is able to take the tension as input and map it to each file according to a table file.

The problem are the loop points in each file which tend not to be mapped to bars or other quantized time measures but are probably written in the tablefile.
