I am a moron, ban me? by ner'zhul at 12:04 PM EDT on August 18, 2006
Why are my excellent request choices always being changed? I thought we lived in a democratic society, not some communist regime! The request choices should be for the people to decide. And it is actually a well know fact, that I am NOT a moron, nor should I be banned. From the requester, it can be seen that at least 5 other people agree with me, which is probably alot.

So please, think of the children, and correct these grave injustices!

PS tag banjo-tooie.
by unknownfile at 12:26 PM EDT on August 18, 2006
Stop requesting it and start tagging it, if you want to have it tagged so bad. Quit whining to us about it.
by hcs at 5:47 PM EDT on August 18, 2006
I don't want tagging requests in the USF Rip request database, that is not its purpose. Asking here is a good idea, it's what I do.

P.S. tag Body Harvest.
Ok, fine by ner'zhul at 1:14 AM EDT on August 19, 2006
I'll tag the things myself and time them, but I may not be able to determine the names of them all.

Would I just email the tagged list to halleyscometsoftware@hotmail.com when im done with it?
by hcs at 12:27 PM EDT on August 19, 2006
More appropriate would be Josh's email address, which you can find in his recent rips.

Maybe a note to this effect should be placed near the request entry boxes.
Okay, Im done by ner'zhul at 7:47 PM EDT on August 19, 2006
but I looked in some of the recent rips and didnt see any email addresses for josh... What is it?

I also think that the main world themes need to be redone so that all of the versions for them arent all in one file. Add the separate themes and let the listeners decide what they want. Try listening to the glitter gulch theme (sparse3e). Sounds horrible because of the inclusion of the underwater theme with it.

also, sorry for extra post earlier. My browser posted it when i hit the back button. didnt think that could happen.

I found that in the TWINE RAR.

I would like to provide a partail apology. I changed your request for Banjo-Tooie tags for a couple of reasons. The biggest one, is that I misread your request, and thought it was for Banjo-Kooie (or however that's spelled). That game already has 3 or so different tags available to it.

The second is that someone has continually requested all kinds of Banjo related crap, even though the game is ripped, and tagged (having mistaken your request for Banjo-Kooie, I didn't think about the fact that Banjo-Tooie doesn't have tags yet), and all that wonderful stuff. The guy kept re-requesting it like, 3 times a day. I was hoping that changing the entry would get their attention, and stop their idiocy. It looks like I at least caught the attention of someone...

In other words, I'm sorry I mistook your request (and you) for something it wasn't. If I hadn't mistaken the request, I probably would have simply deleted it, since, as HCS said, the requests list is for rip requests, and not tag requests. I didn't mean any offense to you personaly, though I did mean offense to the idiot who can't seem to understand that Banjo-Kooie (yah, sorry about the spelling) is tagged, 3 times even. The game doesn't have completed status, because the person who ripped it hasn't given permission for it to be released yet. And, in case you wondered, yes, this has been pointed out numerous times, which is why this moron is getting on my nerves.

Hopefully this slightly clears up the issue. And, thank you very much for your contribution of tags/times to the USF collection. Also, I would suggest that you change your altered request. Those other "5" that agree with you are all from the same person requesting Banjo-Kooie stuff. Again, sorry about the mix up. Mouser X over and out.

RE: mouser by ner'zhul at 11:25 PM EDT on August 20, 2006
dont worry about apologies. I've selected banjo kazooie many times in the past too. ^_^

I didnt know that the person who originally ripped it had to be the one to okay the completed status.

So, assuming the reason he hasnt okayd its completed status is because of multiple versions of the same world themes, then what can be done to fix this? It cant be that hard to rip all the different versions of the same track and include them in the zip file for the fans to choose if they want them or not.
by Mouser X at 1:09 AM EDT on August 21, 2006
From what I've gathered, it's not exactly hard, but it is very time consuming. And, occasionaly, it is difficult to rip the separate tracks, because the game doesn't always respond the way you expect it to. A direct quote from HCS: "the most difficult part in my experience has been finding what instruments need to be silenced"

Also of important note (and a quote) "IIRC Banjo Kazooie used the standard sequencer, so if you look through it it should be possible to find the bit I hacked in Conker's" (from IRC with HCS). So, if you're willing, you *might* give it a try yourself. Though, you might need some additional information. If that's the case, feel free to ask. However, HCS will be away for a bit, so you might not get an easy answer soon. Josh or UNKNOWNFILE might be able to answer any questions you have, though.

Something else to keep in mind is that the original ripper might not be reachable anymore (Parasyte comes to mind for this), so even if you complete the set/rip out the separate files, the set might not obtain completed status, because the permission to do so cannot be recieved. However, I'm fairly certain that someone42 can be reached still, so final release for Banjo-Kazooie is possible, I'd think.

Hopefully this has been useful information. Good luck on anything you attempt. Again, feel free to ask any question you may have. Mouser X over and out.

[EDIT] A quote from Josh: "banjo tooie had the value in A1 of the music function... and the values, I just loaded different levels and logged the values" to which HCS said "ah, might be even easier, then" I suggest you read someone42's ripping guide, at zophar.net, or HCS's ripping stuff, linked to in the USF FAQ.

I have deleted that request. Even I don't like seeing the request section spammed.
BUMP! by ner'zhul at 1:59 AM EST on February 12, 2007
It's been half a year since i gave you those tagged and timed banjo tooie list.

What happened josh, forget? ^_^
by Mouser X at 7:57 AM EST on February 12, 2007
No, he didn't. He didn't rip the set. He doesn't have permission (and neither does HCS) to release it. The original ripper is the person you'd need to contact to get permission to release that set. It's why it hasn't been released. A number of tags and times have been received since it was first ripped. But the original ripper has wanted the set optimized better before it was released. This optimization has not yet been done/completed, as I recall. As such, it's unlikely that this set will see a release. Until that's taken care of, you'll have to take it as is, and apply the tags yourself.

Hopefully I've explained this sufficiently. Mouser X over and out.
in that case by ner'zhul at 10:15 AM EST on February 12, 2007
it might be a good idea to change the name of the "ripper" on the front page to something other than "Josh W", because that might give people false impressions. :)
So by ner'zhul at 5:00 PM EST on March 9, 2007
is josh too busy to finish BT right now; on vacation?

I saw that kazooie was finally finished, which is cool, but why stop there?
by Mouser X at 6:59 PM EST on March 9, 2007
From #usf:
<UNKNOWNFILE> also, banjo tooie can't be released as the dynamic patches are too screwy
<UNKNOWNFILE> the tempo is fucked up
____________

That's why. Apparently, it still needs work. Hope that answers that. Mouser X out.

I have a question: Does that mean a clean Banjo-Tooie USF rip is being worked on at the moment? I'm not too good at comprehending words, sadly, so I can't tell.

If so, I'll leave the forums alone and wait, I'm not trying to beg or plead. I'm just wondering if a complete Banjo-Tooie rip is being worked on; by that, I mean like that compared to the recently-released Banjo-Kazooie rip.

Thanks in advance.
by Mouser X at 11:31 PM EDT on March 29, 2007
To my knowledge, there are no USF rips in progress at this time. HCS is busy with school (and other stuff), UF is busy with the NDS format stuff, as well as the fact that he's doing stuff to his Gamecube, and I very rarely see Josh. If Josh has something up his sleeve (he might, who knows?) he hasn't said anything about it.

Personally, I wouldn't hold your breath on a Banjo Tooie rip at this time. Due to its weirdness, it sounds to me like it'd need to be ripped (reripped?) by Josh or HCS, since they're the ones with the most experience.

This is probably not the answer you were looking for. Sorry about that, but it looks like "life" is taking over for the time being. Mouser X over and out.
by Arich Boss at 2:21 AM EDT on March 30, 2007
Ah, thanks for confirming.

There is a USF rip of Banjo-Tooie already, but since this is a Rare-developed game, it uses channel muting. If you're not familiar, that means it plays every variation of a song on one another.

Banjo-Kazooie's perfect rip is a once in a life-time event; usually, it'd have the same channel muting problem.

Once again, thank you.
by Mouser X at 2:58 AM EDT on March 30, 2007
Yes, I'm fully aware of the situation. If you'll notice, I'm #9 to sign up to these forums (on day one of their initialization). I'm not saying this to brag, I'm saying this as a means of "You're preaching to the choir." I was there before USFs existed (sadly though, I wasn't around for when PSFs first came out. The internet was not available to me at that time, or else I probably would have been).

The Banjo-Tooie problems are fixable. However, it's not an easy thing to fix, and very few people have the expertise, and the time, necessary to figure out how to fix it. Once in a life-time event? Possibly, but I say it just takes more patience. I think ugetab has been hacking at it, but I'm not sure if it was BT, or something else. Nor do I recall how far he got on it. He might still be working on it, but I don't remember right now. I should have been in bed long ago... I have to get up in less than 5 hours. Good night. Mouser X over and out.
by Arich Boss at 9:29 PM EDT on April 1, 2007
I've attempted ripping my own USFs in Banjo-Tooie, and I have the same problem as before: the channel muting problem. Someone will rip the USFs soon, possibly.
by Tanookirby at 10:01 PM EDT on April 1, 2007
How many people here know about rarewitchproject.com? There may be some people at the forums that might be able to solve the problem if you show them this document.
