Error Deal by Zippy at 4:38 PM EDT on September 9, 2006

How do I avoid a error like this? Does beta 1.2 fix this? Are there any settings that must be on? Because I downloaded the Mario Party 3 one and it was complete, although all of them gave me that error.

Did you read the FAQ? Admitedly, I didn't go through the FAQ to see if your problem was mentioned in there, but give that a try first. If you've tried everything mentioned in there, then feel free to come back, and ask again. However, if you do so, we'll most likely need a little more info. to help you out. Hope that helps though. Mouser X out.

That's all the info I can give, I downloaded the Mario Part 3 ones and they all gave the same error. I checked the Faq but no luck. And they gotta work somehow because why would the submitter submit something if they didn't work for him first.

They work for me. Have you tried to play other sets?

I know it works for me as well. It's why I directed you to the FAQ. I can't help you with that error, but I'm inclined to think that it might not actually be 64th Note that's giving that error. In fact, I asked someone else, and they said "i don't think it'd be 64th note since i've never seen any message like that in it's code." So, it's possible that it's 64th Note, but it sounds to me like it's another plugin of yours conflicting in someway with how 64th Note works. In other words, chances are that there's another plugin that's actually the problem here.

What operating system do you use? WinXP SP1, SP2, WinNT, WinMe? What version of Winamp are you using? What output plugin are using? Are you using any DSP plugins? Are you using any plugins that normalize the output? USF sets can have very wonky refresh rates. As such, they have conflicted with audio equipment in the past. HCS has built in an option in 64th Note's configuration that allows you to "round frequency" or something. Does enabling that help?

As marioman said, try some other USF sets (try F-Zero X. It's actually MP3 based audio). Trying different USF sets might help narrow down the problem. Try Tetrisphere. I'm fairly certain that one uses reasonable refresh rates. Anything that's not very 3D intensive (for the game being ripped) will most likely have good refresh rates. Unless, in the case of F-Zero X, it's so 3D intensive that they opted to use streamed music (MP3, CD audio, WAV) instead of sequenced music (MIDI. Most N64 games are sequenced).

Anyway, check over any other plugins (especially DSP and output) that you might be using. I'm thinking you'll be able to narrow it down to one of those. Hope that helps. Mouser X out.

I have no other plugins for winamp, 64th note, that's it. I'm using Windows XP SP2, I've tried some other ones and they work fine, but some others give the same error (Mischief Makers did I think). But it's Mario part 3 I'm so hellbent on. And I have Winamp Pro 5.24. And I'm using 64th Note 1.1 if that matters.

What kind of soundcard do you have. And, more importantly, did you, or did you not, enable the option "Round Frequency" in 64th Note's options? Have you tried playing the Mario Kart set? Does that one work? To me, it sounds like it's the refresh rate problem that I already mentioned. If you enable "Round Frequency" in 64th Note's options, I would venture to say that it will likely fix your problem.

In case you don't know how to access the options (you wouldn't be the first. I'm just pointing this out just in case), push "CTRL+P" when using any of Winamp's main windows. Then, select "input" from the plugins list (near the bottom, on the left). Once in there, look for "64th Note 1.1" on the right side window, and select it. Then push the "configure" button at the bottom. Once the configuration options come up, make sure to put a check mark by "Round Frequency" which is going to be near the top, and sort of in the middle (along the top, of course). It should be right underneath "Use Recompiler CPU." Once you have that checked ("Use Recompiler CPU" should be checked by default, FYI), then click "OK" and close Winamp's option window. You shouldn't have to restart Winamp, but it also won't hurt if you do. Once you have that option enabled, try playing Mario Party 3 again, and see if it makes a difference.

If this doesn't fix your problem, then I have a few more questions for you (I'll mention this one now. Have you ever used 64th Note before? I ask, because I'd like to know if you're "new" to this, or if this problem has only recently cropped up). Hopefully this works though. Good luck. Mouser X over and out.

Its hard to tell what the problem is, that error doesn't give much information, but it is clearly something breaking in 64th Note. Could you check the Display Errors checkbox in the 64th Note configuration and see if anything more useful pops up?

problem fixed.
by marioman at 9:56 PM EDT on September 11, 2006
Really? What did you do?
by hcs at 10:09 PM EDT on September 11, 2006
I'd like to hear about it, especially if it was something you fixed on your end, so I can better assist other people in figuring it out.
