Turok 2 - How much longer? by MrDoomMaster at 2:53 PM EST on November 14, 2006
How much longer is Turok 2's USF soundtrack going to be "In Progress"? It's been months now...

That's straight from JoshW's fingers (he typed it in #USF). He's tried to rip it, but it's really very broken, apparently. As far as I'm aware, there hasn't been any major progress on it recently.

That's quoted from a post I made in the guest book, when someone asked the same question. Even with the new version of 64th Note (that allows Gauntlet Legends to play), Turok 2 is still really messed up. In other words, it's either beyond Josh's ability rip/repair it, or it's just not currently emulated properly. If it's the emulator problem, then it's going to take a long time to fix, I'd bet. If it's the other (Josh can't rip or repair it (repair it to bypass emulation/ripping issues)), then it's probably not going to be accurately ripped anytime soon at all.

Also of importance, is the fact that Josh is busy with school. He's also busy (though, not at this time because of school) with the MSF format (which is supposed to be an arcade format). So, I wouldn't hold your breath on this set if I were you.

Sorry to disappoint, but hopefully that adequately answers your question. Mouser X over and out.

Myeah, maybe "stalled" would be a better status.
by MrDoomMaster at 1:56 PM EST on November 19, 2006
Yep, that answers the question. Thanks guys.

I may do a ghetto rip and just record the songs playing in the game to MP3 format or something.

What about the PC version? That features a Redbook audio soundtrack, unless you value your own loop count and fade time enough to bother recording, timing, and cleaning up your own recordings. When you could just downl^Wpurchase the PC version and rip the audio tracks out instead.

You know, if you're interested, I happen to have the PC version, and I could just rip the tracks for you. I also wrote a fix to get the music working under Windows XP, and any other versions of Windows where MCI device handles are thread and not process specific.

(Heheh, a little late here.)

How does the PC version of Turok 2 compare to the N64 version?
by kode54 at 7:52 PM EST on December 7, 2006
I cannot answer that since I have not played the N64 version. I did enjoy playing it, and having native mouse+keyboard controls did help a bit.

Although, somehow, I managed to enjoy the original Turok: Dinosaur Hunter for N64 even with the console controls. Then again, that was before I really had any PC first person shooters. I kind of jumped on the Doom bandwagon a bit late, and discovered the mouse and keyboard combination much later. I thought I was cool strafing around in Doom with my Gavis gamepad. :)

Found the PC version, it is about the same as the N64 version, better graphics and the music is probably better.

Now I remember why that game annoyed me so much, spent a couple of hours on the first map wandering around and getting pissed at trying to end the map.

I had no idea there was a PC compatible version of Turok 2. Is it official? Where may I obtain this?
by Fgl at 4:37 AM EST on January 13, 2007
Here is the CD music from the PC version of Turok 2 in mp3 form at: Turok 2 musix

And also here is the CD music from the PC version of Turok 1 in mp3 form at: Turok 1 musix

And there's lots more on that site: game-soundtracks

Hi,

@ kode54 you wrote, that you have a written a fix to get music working under XP.
Do you still have this fix or maybe instructions how to get it working?
I don't want play Turok 2 without music. I hope you read this message.

i'm not even going to ask why you bumped this out of the depths of hell, but i'm going to ask you why you thought that would be perfectly OK.

let sleeping topics lie.
by Shinzon at 1:02 PM EDT on March 25, 2008
Ok, i ask you, is it better to open thousands of threads for a topic thats already exist? Or is it better to search the forum and write in the existing topic?
This the only topic in which kode54 writes about a fix. Should i now open a new thread, which a topic nobody knows what i mean?
It would be better, if you could help me contact kode54 instead of to say what is better.
Sorry, it should not sound bad and sorry for bad english.

I think reviving this was completely appropriate.
But I don't have any answer to your question.
