bump: Missing tracks by Arend at 9:34 AM EDT on September 11, 2017
I'd like to repeat that the current Splatoon 2 rip still misses the win/lose jingles in Turf War and Splatfest, as well as the Splatfest results jingle, and the Mission Clear/Fail jingles for Hero Mode.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's credits sequence is also missing, though I've been told that's a prerendered movie
by Vector Harbor at 12:04 PM EDT on September 11, 2017
Please, don't bump the thread it's annoying. Again not everyone can rip switch game. So far the hacking community is working on that to release the tool that we need to do our self.
by bxaimc at 12:05 PM EDT on September 11, 2017
Hmm, I'll look into Splatoon 2 again then. And yea, MK8 is a movie file.

On another note:

-Just Dance 2017 might be opus as well like Mario+Rabbids but without the use of any Wwise software.

-Disgaea 5 might be vorbis.

-Rayman Legends might also have vorbis for music unless they decided to use the Wii U's files for that and use vorbis for everything else.

-Pokken Tournament DX also contains references to vorbis libraries for audio but nothing is certain that it's really used.

Lots of devs seem to be focusing on using WebM for video on the platform.
by bxaimc at 5:56 PM EDT on September 11, 2017
Update, there are a hell of a lot jingles that were missed on the Splatoon 2 rip. While going through the game, I found something neato. Say hi to BFSTP y'all
by spikyalumnus at 9:57 PM EDT on September 11, 2017
Yes! Me too, I am waiting for those missing files in the Splatoon 2 Rip. Also, did anyone converted the STRM_World file successfully?
by bxaimc at 11:47 PM EDT on September 11, 2017
You won't be able to listen to those multichannel files if your soundcard doesn't support more than 6 channels playing at the same time from a single stream file. The best way to go about this is just converting it to a wav (Winamp and foobar2000 have it built in) and popping it into something like Audacity and split the tracks manually to create your own output. That's the easy way.

The hard way would be to deinterleave all the inner streams and rebuild each header to correspond to the output while retaining the necessary infos needed for playback.
by spikyalumnus at 8:16 AM EDT on September 12, 2017
But foobar2000 is just saying that the file is corrupted or not supported (or something like that). Why is that?
by Arend at 11:03 AM EDT on September 12, 2017
@Vector: Sorry for that bump from earlier, but I just wanted to bring attention of some missing tracks, and the previous time, it got almost no attention (and what certainly didn't help is that it got buried under Mario + Rabbids stuff).

At least now someone is looking into it again and discovered a mass of missing jingles under a new file extension.

Speaking of, I'm very thankful for this new info, bxaimc.
by bxaimc at 5:37 PM EDT on September 12, 2017
BFSTP isn't exactly new per se. Usually contains repeated data found somewhere else like in BFSTM. So they're usually known as prefetch data (according to furrybob). Despite so, I found some missing jingles anyway.
Mario Rabbids trouble by Sephirothkefka at 1:17 AM EDT on September 13, 2017
Trying to play the wems results in either nothing or static. im on build r1050-576 dated july 16 2017 via winamp and also tried this in foobar2000 which was dated august 28th.
by mariofan12ify at 1:52 AM EDT on September 13, 2017
You'll have to wait until vgmstream gets updated to be able the play them properly.
by bxaimc at 8:41 AM EDT on September 13, 2017
Support for an entirely new codec needs to be added, not just the typical meta update for header parsing.

Version 3.0 of ARMS came out today. Maybe we'll hear Lola Pop's theme soon.

Anyone is interesting for Project Octopath Traveler demo ? The battle theme is really impressive ! I love it.
by OzoneOne at 9:43 PM EDT on September 19, 2017
Cave Story+ just got another alternate soundtrack in an update, it'd be super cool if we could get that somehow. Switch exclusive it seems
by crediar at 7:32 AM EDT on September 23, 2017
Project Octopath Traveler demo and any title from now is using a new crypto and unless a new exploit is found can't be dumped.

WHEN THE ARMS LOLAPOP THEME?
by bnnm at 1:55 PM EDT on September 25, 2017
Heads up, I've added Mario+Rabbids to vgmstream.

Several files were corrupted and won't play, try to re-rip.
by Vector Harbor at 2:04 PM EDT on September 25, 2017
Thanks for the heads up !
by bxaimc at 3:10 PM EDT on September 25, 2017
@bnnm awesome. I look forward to getting lost while reading over the code. Did you have it set up to "reblock" the stream into the conventional OggS container setup for ffmpeg?
by bnnm at 4:03 PM EDT on September 25, 2017
@bxaimc - That's exactly what it does. You can even hijack the code and make it output valid .ogg (that's how I initially tested it).
It's pretty straightforward, the harder part was mentally following what's going on internally, specially when it starts seeking and doing half-reads.
by bxaimc at 4:11 PM EDT on September 25, 2017
Cool beans. Lego City Undercover also uses another bastardization of opus.

Interesting, the data (@0x28) is actually identical to Wwise Opus (0x00 size + 0x04 unknown + 0x08 data), should be easy to add.

I'm guessing it's actually "Switch Opus" since it's was referenced here: "Wwise currently only supports the Nintendo Switch version of Opus, which uses the Switch hardware".
by bxaimc at 8:48 PM EDT on September 25, 2017
I wonder. I'll need to check NintendoWare if there's an encoder.

The game has a built-in music test!
So it's just a matter of recording all of it.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 8:17 PM EDT on October 29, 2017
That's true.
But then, so does Yoshi's Woolly World, and a few other games.

However, everyone knows that recording from the console is not as high quality, compared to the actual native streams. And also, the music player doesn't include everything.

For example, it doesn't include the music in the Sand Kingdom when you're in the open desert areas.
Nor does it include the variation of the RoboBrood Battle that plays when RoboBrood is not standing up (i.e. the Japanese-style version), and so on.
by starerik at 8:20 PM EDT on October 29, 2017
@TheUltimateKoopa "everyone knows that recording from the console is not as high quality" It depends if the person who records sucks or not. If you record audio through HDMI you get the best possible quality next to getting the actual audio files.
by TheUltimateKoopa at 10:25 PM EDT on October 29, 2017
That I am aware of.
However pretty much 100% of people who record audio via a cable and upload it to the internet, use the standard 3mm line-in cables, which comes with a free helping of white noise.
by bxaimc at 11:37 PM EDT on October 29, 2017
For once I agree with TUK.
by Segtendo at 12:11 AM EDT on October 30, 2017
Patience is the key, guys. HDMI rips may be the best way without the game files, but the game files trump all.
Syberia [Switch] by PrinceSnake at 9:06 AM EDT on October 30, 2017
Hello,

I wonder if it is possible to rip the Switch version of Syberia (the first one). I know that recently the composer Inon Zur bundled two soundtracks (2&3) in a digital way and also vynil exclusive but the first one was not included within the bundle. I sent him a message but never got a reply...

That's why I ask if someone would be kind enough to make a music rip from that game. Unfortunately PC/PC2/XBOX rips sound very bad even uncompressed.

Thanks you for you amazing work.

Best regards,
PrinceSnake
by RebeccaSugar at 10:32 AM EDT on October 30, 2017
My heart skipped a beat once I saw your guys's BrawlBRSTMS channel uploading Super Mario Odyssey music, then I realized it's recorded digitally, and not the audio files themselves. Good enough for now.
by bxaimc at 2:52 PM EDT on October 30, 2017
Only the best for our channel.

I think they're just being paranoid. Especially since they allegedly changed the keys again from 3.0.0 to 3.0.1

It's for the best really, besides, It's not like they suddenly can't delete and re-upload the official streams after it's been decrypted and dumped :p

Ultra Street Fighter II - The Final Challengers (2017-05-26)(Capcom).7z

Both use unplayable opus.
by Sephirothkefka at 4:43 AM EDT on November 3, 2017
Seeing how d5 and usf2 have been ripped successfully, does this mean 3.0.1/4 crypto is cracked or is this merely a game by game basis?
by bxaimc at 7:46 AM EDT on November 3, 2017
D5 and SFIIU were launch window titles. Those could have been easily dumped long ago since they used the original keys other games like MK8 and BotW but I guess no one felt like dumping them until recently.
by Vector Harbor at 3:47 PM EDT on November 3, 2017
For Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, is there a way to make these opus file playable ? Changing the extension or wait for an update ?

Please keep files in original form guys. The only exceptions are appending GENH headers onto them. If variations of an existing format exists, the code just needs to be updated to support these as-is.
by Knurek at 1:50 AM EDT on November 5, 2017
@bxaimc: The original files don't play though, and comparing the two, !!!!! only removed the first 0x10 bytes to have them match the Lego City Undercover rip.

And even then, they only play in Foobar, and not Winamp.

They do play in Winamp, just use the latest VGMStream.
by bnnm at 1:54 PM EST on November 5, 2017
I've added USF2 and D5 with looping, for the original files only. D5 seems to have proper song endings tho.

Please guys, don't remove parts of files without warning unless you are really, really sure.
Surely you can wait some days until it's added?

Does anybody know if there will be a CD release for Odyssey in the US, or will we be limited to iTunes? (I mean, iTunes is at least better than the usual nothing I guess...)

edited 1:01 PM EST December 24, 2017
by MoldyPond at 1:27 PM EST on December 24, 2017
@ArticJaguar725 No info yet but I can pretty much guarantee if there will be one, it'll be japan only (as we always get screwed when it comes to CDs). Here's hoping though.

Also I can tell you right now that by buying the iTunes files, you are purposely paying for lower-than-the-game's-files quality copies and that makes me a sad panda.
by ArcticJaguar725 at 2:47 PM EST on December 24, 2017
@MoldyPond The Switch files may arguably have superior quality to the OST since the rips will most likely be sampled at 48kHz (some of which may even be lossless). I'm still not sure what would be considered superior quality: ADPCM sampled at 48000Hz or 16-bit PCM at 44100Hz.

I'm sure both of us agree that iTunes is undoubtedly inferior to both, but I would still favor the game rips over the CD rips especially because of all the 4+ channel streams found in the game (e.g. New Donk City).

edited 2:56 PM EST December 24, 2017
by MoldyPond at 3:57 PM EST on December 24, 2017
@ArcticJaguar725 If it's anything like literally every game Nintendo makes (save for a few like Smash Wii U and Game & Wario) then they'll be 32000kHz.

I recommend doing what I do: Take the CD rips (if there are any) for the main themes then use the game rips for everything else (except in the case of SNES CDs and anything by Rare).
by bxaimc at 4:03 PM EST on December 24, 2017
Almost all Nintendo made games on switch are 44.1 or 48 kHz with the exception being Mario Kart 8
by Kurausukun at 5:09 PM EST on December 24, 2017
Even if they are, keep in mind that it's 4-bit ADPCM as opposed to 16-bit LCPM for CDs; they kind of break even, or even lean in favor of the CDs anyway.
