Just curious about the Odyssey rerip: Which will be different from the first one?
by bxaimc at 9:02 AM EDT on May 11, 2018
Eh, nothing big. Mostly named files compared to the generic file_000000.bfwav stuff, maybe a couple of missing little snippets of jingles. The main stuff remains the same.

about the music box songs by threeblacknoises at 8:55 PM EDT on May 11, 2018
No they most likely aren't, as they're just midi files.
They are, however, on the ost Nintendo just released.
And what's more, you can get it on amazon!
And it has everything, minus a japanese karaoke version of brake through (Lead the way) the ending rock song and the ndc fes version of jp jump up! super star!.

a question about the smo rerip by threeblacknoises at 8:58 PM EDT on May 11, 2018
I noticed that all the jingles have weird channel issues, almost like one or both of the channels are inverted or something.

BlazBlue - Cross Tag Battle Special Trial (2018-05-11)(Arc System Works)[Switch]

@threeblacknoises - I have a feeling that issue will be fixed in the new rip.
by simonmkwii at 9:36 AM EDT on May 12, 2018
@threeblacknoises - That's a vgmstream issue, it should have been fixed in the last release.
(it fuckin' well wasn't!)
by bxaimc at 9:37 AM EDT on May 12, 2018
That’s not a rip issue. Some fixes were done with the latest vgmstream release.

Sorry for the wrong thread, but can you please update my Wii U Splatoon rip to the site? The original one doesn't include the updates, which includes some additional songs as well.

Does .lopus (or .opus) extension contain loop headers? BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle did not had any present in the rip (unless the loop information is stored somewhere else).
by AceK at 11:52 PM EDT on May 15, 2018
For anyone interested in .ADPCM ripping specs for BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle...

VGMToolbox → GENH:
• Input File Format = Nintendo Gamecube DSP 4-bit ADPCM
• Header Skip = 0x40
• Channels = 1 (should be this in most cases)
• Frequency = 48000 (should be this in most cases)
• Coef Offset: Left Channel = 0x1C
• Coefficient Type = Normal (Little Endian)
by bxaimc at 6:05 PM EDT on May 16, 2018
BlazBlue reupped with corresponding PSI files for loops. Support awaiting to be merged into vgmstream's main repo.
by mariofan12ify at 1:03 AM EDT on May 18, 2018
Some of the tracks in the Hyrule Warriors rip sound really broken, they sound like pure static with slight hints of music in them.

Regarding Hyrule Warriors switch by threeblacknoises at 4:37 AM EDT on May 23, 2018
I noticed that the new rip of Hyrule Warriors for the switch is only at 32khz.
The wii u one reports 48khz in vgmstream.
Is this really different, or was some kind of conversion done to make the wii u files play in vgmstream?
Or is this just because the wii u auto up converts everything to 48kzh and the devs just wanted to lessan the stress on the up converter?
The cutsceens are at 32khz in all versions, that's why I'm wondering.
If all versions are really at 32khz, I want to remove my incomplete wii u rip of the game and just keep the switch one.

by bxaimc at 8:19 AM EDT on May 23, 2018
I think you’re overthinking it. But yes the switch version does use the same frequency rate as the 3DS, 32768hz

Oh. Me and Simon each did the update rip a while back (mines worked first, his was crypto’d partially lol). Only reason I don’t want to merge it just yet is because Octo expansion release is around the corner (July 31).

Is Bloodstained Curse of the Moon able to be done? Is anyone working on it?
by ChillyBilly at 6:04 PM EDT on May 24, 2018
I checked out the PC version of Bloodstained.... the data was made up of a bunch of headerless files that may or may not be encrypted. I can still post the folder if anyone wants though.... maybe someone else can make sense of that mess, lol.

Edit: Heck with it, here it is, anyway. Reminder that this is for the PC version, though.... I dunno about the other versions (though I figure they're most likely the same).

I see that !!!!! has his FLAC version the Kirby Star Allies soundtrack uploaded, but it's at 48k. How is that possible if the system is limited to ~32k? I believe I remember reading that sometimes you can "mirror" information to extend it, but the Spectograph and Sonograph looked pretty unique, though didn't appear to have any "new" information past ~22k (44). I'm a couple of steps above novice with this stuff, so I was just hoping someone could shed some light.
by bxaimc at 10:57 PM EDT on May 30, 2018
Actually, most Switch games are 48k nowadays
by simonmkwii at 12:34 PM EDT on May 31, 2018
@1337haXXor - The Switch's DSP outputs lossless 192KHz/24-bit PCM via HDMI, I don't know where you got this 32KHz number from.
by Kirishima at 1:01 PM EDT on May 31, 2018
@simonmkwii

Probably from Nintendo's track record with past consoles...

Anyways, anybody know if the recently released Street Fighter Anniversary Collection is entirely emulated or did they go with what they did with the older ps2 collections and stream all the audio.

edited 1:03 PM EDT May 31, 2018
by bxaimc at 2:47 PM EDT on May 31, 2018
Haven’t checked Switch version just yet but most, if not all the Music is streamed (can confirm for SFIII NG-3rd strike at least). The games themselves are psudo-emulated. Arcade roms are decompiled and recompiled a-la-Digitally Eclipse style in real-time to avoid being called emulated using their Eclipse engine.

Tidbit from Wikipedia:

Part of Digital Eclipse's work include their own Eclipse Engine, a tool that allows them to decompile the code from older games into machine-readable format that is then used by the Eclipse Engine to play them on modern systems. While it may take some extra work by the company to decompile the older game into the proper format one time, this approach allows them to rapidly port the Eclipse version to any modern gaming system, including computer, console, or portable/mobile device with a minimum of effort. This engine has been used so far in the Mega Man Legacy Collection and The Disney Afternoon Collection.

I read the post on here from a week ago or so, but realized that was talking about the game's output, not the console's.. Quick question, is the output frequency determined in the filetype, the compression algorithm, or something else?

Well, hopefully the CPS2 streams (if they are streams) are better than what was used in Vampire Resurrection and MVSC Origins. Those sound like they were just taken from something like MAME rather than a real CPS2 board.

You didn't need to upload any samples. I was just talking about how since Capcom should've had access to actual recordings from CPS2 boards that they used for older ports and OST's, they instead go and use something that sounds like the old mame HLE. While that sounds okay, how the volume panning was handled was incorrect, causing certain samples that were supposed to be heard out of both speakers to only be heard out of one when compared to the old recordings and the newer LLE. I'm just wondering if with this collection, they ended up doing that again.
by nothingtosay at 1:13 AM EDT on June 3, 2018
@simonmkwii: Are you sure it can do 192 kHz and 24 bits? My sound card, when taking digital input from the Switch, syncs to 48 kHz and I made a recording with my software set to 24 bits but a plugin I have tells me it's only using 16. I guess I don't have the most direct setup that I could, but it should be lossless; it can handle higher sample rates and all 24 bits when fed it, and it syncs to other sample rates from other sources properly. I do Switch (docked) -> HDMI cable -> HDMI splitter with S/PDIF output -> sound card.

by Sephirothkefka at 9:58 PM EDT on June 3, 2018
@nothingtosay Horizon (Switch OS) limits software to 48khz 16 bit 5.1 PCM when docked (even though TX1 can do 7.1 24 bit 192khz).

Put on hold momentarily until someone makes an accurate extractor unless I want to rename thousands and thousands of files by hand and even then it may not be accurate because the tables are messed up since bfsars done contain nothing, just pointers to bfgrp and there are more than 1 bfgrp to a bfsar. But if I had to put a percentage complete already, I’d say it’s 80% done. The problem is these little random jingles. The main music was all there in the original rip.
