Cadillacs and Dinosaurs by dj4uk6cjm at 4:15 AM EST on December 21, 2017
Did the game ever used sequenced music? I heard there was a PC version of the 1993 Mame arcade game and of course I've seen people on YouTube play it just fine on the SNES Classic Mini (which isn't really relevant to what I'm asking I suppose) but I've tried all the available VGM and VGZ soundtrack rips online and none of them seem to convert to midi.
If that's true I wonder if there is a way to obtain the original sound data from both the Mame and PC version to confirm, I'm not sure if there are tools to extract the formats from them though sadly.
Foobar2000 plays the VGM and VGZ files pretty well for me, so no problems there and the WAV samples would be useful to have for a soundfont but I'm really more interested in the sequences from the game, hopefully someone here with previously experienced knowledge can help with this and oops lol I didn't know about your new soundfont :P can't remember the last time I visited Glitchkill...yeah it's super dead there, I'll get it added to the list in a little while for you though.
Your welcome Mr.Sanic! Let me know if you ever update your soundfonts or links and I'll update them to the list.
They have the VGM soundtrack for Cadillacs and Dinosaurs on Josh's website here: http://hoot.joshw.info/!MDScene_Arcade_VGM/c/Cadillacs%20and%20Dinosaurs%20[Cadillacs%20-%20Kyouryuu%20Shinseiki]%20(1993-02-01)(Capcom).7z but I already tried converting them in many VGM2MIDI programs and no dice. :/
Hmm... That's weird search some info on google, should be helpful. Actually some MAME VGMS are very glitchy and messy :s Oh and i have a lot of projects to post on glitchkill!
You can't convert the vgm rips to midi since it doesn't contain the original sequence format. It instead logs the samples and sound commands. Use the original mame rom in vgmtrans since it's supported.
Hmm that's weird...I just tried opening the original rom (World 930201) using the latest version of VGMTrans and all it picked up was some WAV samples but no sequences :( that's neat it can be opened with that software though!
Wow thank you! @Kirishima sorry to make you do the leg work, how were you able to rip them if you don't mind me asking so I can rip the rest? The rom has multiple files and none of which showed sequences in VGMTrans.
I'm just glad it really did used sequences, now I can remaster the soundtrack :D the music from the game is so great it reminds me of Super Double Dragon from the SNES, I think they even share the same samples.
Just remember, some of these might use all 16 channels which will cause vgmtrans to merge the first and last channels because it avoids putting anything on channel 10. Ends up being a huge pain in the ass for several things, especially if certain channels have nothing on them.
I didn't rip the whole thing, just an example rip. Just find yourself the parent rom and drop the zip file into vgmtrans, that should give you everything.
I think I noticed that too on one of the tracks I was testing from VGMTrans in FL Studio, it kept playing the percussion sounds on an instrument note lol that is a bit annoying otherwise it plays ok, I love hearing the music in crystal clear quality!

@dj4uk6cjm are you going to release your remaster of this great ost to the public anytime soon?

Sorry for the late reply, the holidays are keeping me busy but so far I've only been able to partially remaster my favorite song from Cadillacs and Dinosaurs - Trap of Silence. It's not perfect because I didn't really have enough updated samples for it to sound exactly like the original from the get go but I like it, couldn't loop it perfectly either since the midis are messed up to where if you try to manually loop them the percussion notes will end up overlapping each other and play a lot louder at least in my DAW it happens which I found really annoying!! There might be a way to fix them but I haven't found one yet, I'll share a link here if you guys want to hear my remaster anyway just let me know.
