Wii (Elebits) Rip? by hufman at 10:22 PM EDT on March 18, 2007
Hello!
I was wondering about how easy it would be to rip the soundtrack from a Wii game, in particular Elebits. Since it is an early game in the Wii's lifecycle, I would think it would use a similar audio codec or middleware as the Gamecube. However, I could not merely insert the game disc into my computer and see files, however nice that would be.
Is there any chance of an easy Wii soundtrack rip? Or will I need to wait for a while first?
The main reason I am interested in it is because the official soundtrack has different music than what is in the game, and I'm hoping that by getting a Wii-format rip, I can enjoy all of the Elebits music. However, I will be patient if it is not available now.
Has anyone looked into the feasibility of a Wii rip?

ISOs are encrypted

Yes. I've already downloaded a few Wii ISOs (disc images), but they're currently useless. There's no software than can decrypt them yet. As such, I've got 8+ GB of data sitting on my PC doing nothing (Sadly, this is nothing compared to other stuff that's been sitting on my PC for years, and hasn't gone anywhere). Hopefully though, someone will figure it out soon enough. I'd like to pull the audio off of them, if at all possible.

One thing to consider though is that, even with the increase in disc space, games might still use a sequenced format. If that's the case, then the best you're going to get is an audio-in recording from the game. At least, until someone codes a Wii audio emulator. Considering that the GC audio isn't emulated yet, this is Highly Unlikely. Mouser X over and out.

Highly Unlikely? Is that the new 3SF music player? :P

Probably.

However, someone needs to whip Desmume 2sf into *ACTUALLY WORKING*.

At this point in time, yes, that's the name being considered for the GC (and Wii? Considering the Wii is backwords compatible and all) emulated format (I'm hoping for GCSF [and WSF? RSF?] myself. Obviously, a Wii format isn't planned at this time, nor is it even being considered or discussed. I'm just throwing that out there is all). In my opinion, it's kind of funny how it came about... [21:33] <Mouser_X> And I'd like to attempt to get 8 hours of sleep (this is *HIGHLY* unlikely).
[21:33] <Mouser_X> Heh. "Highly Unlikely" should be the name of the GC xSF format.
[21:34] <hcs> ooh
[21:34] * hcs makes not
[21:34] <hcs> e
[21:34] <Mouser_X> :D
[21:34] <hcs> "will there ever be a GC xSF format?"
[21:34] <hcs> *player
[21:34] <hcs> "it's Highly Unlikely"
[21:34] <Mouser_X> lol

Personally, I hope the name sticks. And, good observation. I figured someone would notice... Mouser X over and out.

and now that we've got the name, we're 80% of the way there!
