A significant amount of these are randomly copied from texts in Project Gutenberg, to make them appear to have content to spam filters using markov chain analysis. Doesn't seem to stop gmail from recognizing them as spam, though.

hcs got a nice speed (100kb/s), I might set up a distro there but it would impact my speed.
by Mouser X at 3:25 PM EDT on April 8, 2006
Put a cap on the speed it can use, or something. I've been seeding the stuff with only 20k (which is terrible, but it's all I had to offer). If you capped it at like, 100kb/s, or even 50kb/s, then I'm sure it would be fine. And that should leave with with plenty of room for whatever you'd use the rest of it for. If you need any of the sets, I can offer you the ones I have (which of course still exludes a few sets, Killer7 being the one I can recall the easiest). But yes, if you can offer a dedicated server for the sets, that'd be awesome! Mouser X over and out.

Well, I got One Piece 183 downloaded today, only to be met with this horrible translation:

Someone please tell me what the fuck a goog is.
by Mouser X at 8:02 PM EDT on April 14, 2006
My older brother downloaded "Tenchi: GXP." He and I watched it. The translation was just about as bad as that one. In all honesty, I was laughing when watching GXP, but not because the show was funny. I was laughing because I had lost all my sanity trying to understand the horrible translation, and the even worse storyline... Seriously, the last three episodes were terrible. Watching them, I couldn't help but think "Geez, what happened? Did these guys expect to make 2 seasons? Then, suddenly, they're told that it's not going to make it past 1 season, so they're forced to put all of season 2 into the last 3 shows of season 1?" The show really didn't make much sense overall, but it completely lost it for the last 3 shows.

I will say though, that the first few episodes were genuinely funny. The main character's luck is so bad, that he is accidently taken into space, where he is then attacked by space-pirates. The ship he's on trys to randomly "jump" away, but the space-pirates know the algorithm that the ship uses to generate the jump coordinates, so the pirates follow them to the new location. Not knowing what else to do, the captian of the ship (for reasons I either didn't catch, didn't make sense, or don't remember) tells the main character to randomly enter new coordinates into the computer for the next jump. He does so, and ends up in a completely unrelated space-pirate ambush. This happens continues to happen until they have at least 100 pirates chasing them down. Finally, they end up in another huge pirate raid. However, this one was a trap for the pirates (just not the pirates that were chasing the character's ship). So, they jump into the scene with at least 100 pirates on their tail. So, the space cops, police, or whatever they're called in this Anime, end up having the biggest success in capturing pirates in years. It was so successful in fact, that the police hire the main character into the force, because his luck is so bad that he attracts pirates to him. They end up using the main character as their bait to catch more pirates.

Well, after typing it, it probably doesn't sound quite as funny as it was to watch. If you, for some reason, do decide to watch it, I recommend you don't watch anymore than 3 or 4 episodes. It only goes downhill from there. Then again, I watched a poor fan translation, so maybe a professional translation would be better. I know there was a USA release of GXP. I saw in my local "Software Ect." Which honestly really really surprised me. I never expected it to get a stateside release. I thought it was terrible.

And that's my experience with poorly translated Anime. Rather funny overall, but it certainly did cause a headache. Mouser X over and out.

One Piece 183 again~

I downloaded One Piece 184 and I got some amusing results.

The intro recaps the previous episode, so the translations are a bit different. The file for 184 reads

whereas the 183 file reads

Now for the better part:

Enel (translated here as Alino) tells Luffy to keep his dental devices to himself.

Sanji comments on how Nami is putting off her shirt till later. (He's just commenting that she isn't wearing a shirt. Usopp then proceeds to yell at him.)

Usopp, you horny bastard.
by unknownfile at 5:50 PM EDT on April 15, 2006
185 downloaded. The thing was propertly translated though it was kinda low-qual. The only thing I did find funny was this:

I never skip the intros unless I'm running short on time.

+++ edit so I dont need to start a new post +++

I went on the Arlong Park forums' discussion of One Piece, only to be met with THIS

Not only is it badly redrawn but it doesn't have Luffy suffering as bad a fate.. I mean, he's just wrapped around the damn thing. In the original it makes more sense because...

I recently picked up the N64 goodmerge ROM set. I played the practice mode of Wetrix for over an hour (maybe 3!). It's a pretty fun game! At least, that's what I thought, until I played the real game. The control on that game is terrible! At least, for me... Maybe I need to implement frame-limeters? The blocks fell too fast, and I couldn't put them down where they needed to go. It looks like I'll be stuck on the practice level for a long time... Still, it's a pretty good game, generally. You should give it a try. Mouser X out.

Yesturday I spent at least 3 hours (nearly straight) playing Tetrisphere. They really need to make a portable version of that game... A very interesting and fun game, in my opinion. While the controls can be annoying (there were quite a few times when I'd try to "grab" a piece to shift, and it wouldn't take hold, and there were other times when I'd be holding a piece, and it would suddenly get let go...), for the most part, it was pretty good. Also, it gives you a timer, so that you know when the next piece is going to drop. That way, it provides you with a little bit of time prepare. I'm definatly going back to that game later. That's another one that I'd have to strongly recommend to anyone who wants to try it. On top of that, it's got a great soundtrack as well! My favorite is Extol. Give Tetrisphere a try. Mouser X out.

Well, I've been offline for about 1.5 months because the wireless network I was using was taken down. I'm currently back online, but I don't know how long that will last. Hopefully, I'll be able to get caught up in the various areas I frequent.

While I was offline, I freed up enough drive space to re-install WinXP. Unfourtunatly, this means I need to rebuild my settings (and my hardrive structure) to get things where I'd like them to be. Because my drive is being rebuilt, I have about 12-15gb of duplicated data that I need to sort through. Hopefully I'll be able to clean it out, and get things in a manageable manner quickly.

On a side note, Raxco Perfect Disk (a disk defragmenter tool) isn't working for me. It says that it's unable to mount my computer. Anyone happen to have any suggestions on who to fix this? If I can use Raxco, it's much more efficient and clean than using the MS provided disk defragger. Like as in, it can actually defrag your drive before Windows boots up, enabling it to defrag system files. Also, it inteligently defrags the drive, moving the commonly used files to the fastest area of the disk, and the less frequently used files to hte edges and slower areas of the disk. And, unlike the MS defragger, it moves the empty/freespace to the end of the drive, instead of leaving it scattered about and inbetween files, like the MS defragger does. This helps keep fragmnting down when you add new files. Any help would be appreciated. However, considering this is a message board mainly dealing with USFs and other similar things, I don't expect to get much help here. But I also figure it won't hurt to ask either.

Anyway, that's why I've been so quiet lately. Mouser X over and out.

Double post!

Just for kicks, I thought I'd mention Narbacular Drop here. It's a very short game, but with the potential for lots of fun. You can find it here. After you've given this game a look, take a look at this. The guys who made Narbacular Drop are the same guys who made "Portal." Apparently, they were hired on the spot, when they showed their game.

If you decided not to look at Narbacular Drop, at least take a look at the video I posted. Once you've watched that, I suggest you give Narbacular Drop a second thought. Again, while the game is short, it has a lot of potential for some very interesting "physics breaking" ideas. And, if the game does bore you, you can find a level editor (or tools, I should say) in their downloads section. If the instructions they provide are inadequate, try these. They simplify the process for those who would like to try this out.

Oh, and one last thing. For some reason, some of the levels don't load all of the objects properly. If this happens, simply restart the level. It should work that time (I wish I had known this. I spent 10 minutes looking for a turtle, and finally dived into the lava just to see what would happen). Hope you enjoy this fun and inovative (though short) game. Mouser X over and out.

From my Myspace blog:

A Close Encounter

I still have this cold, just before I begin this entry. Just so you know, all one of you.

Anyways...

Today at lunch I went downstairs to the cafeteria. The cafeteria is always full of complete and utter jerks, mostly people who have just arrived. Since the lineup was too long, I just grabbed a Nutrigrain (tm), gulped it down and exited stage left.

I passed the main hall, and all of a sudden:
"Hey! Hold on, I want to talk to you!"

I turned around to see a fairly attractive girl who was probably about my age. Since I wondered what the hell was going on, I decided to ask her about it.

Me: Why? What do you want?
Her: Nothing - I just want to talk to you! You look cool!

Then it struck me. This wasn't someone I knew. Also, I would be violating the Order of the Geek if I did stop to talk to her. So I used Avoidance Technique Number 1 then and there and put a stop to it.

Me: I'm sorry, I'm in a hurry. *dashes off*

But I'm starting to wonder - was that the right thing to do? I don't know about this since I've already set my sights on someone else. I probably did the right thing.

Sigh....

Anyways, USF fans! I'm working away at two games at the moment - Forsaken 64 and Puyo Puyo Sun. They're quite difficult but I'll eventually figure them out.

I've been working on an ADX decoder for rockbox. I am listening to the Tales of the Abyss ADXs on my iPod now.
by unknownfile at 10:42 PM EDT on September 20, 2006
Just installed cockbox. I hope that I'll be able to install Linux on my computer aswell.
by PokeParadox at 5:40 AM EDT on September 21, 2006
As snakey says: keep your options open UF. Just don't have too many options... otherwise you look desperate. And women hate desparation in men.

I've been listening to ADXs on my iPod too, thanks hcs!
Also been trying to port/write an in_cube player for the GP2X but it's mocking me atm...

The Morning After
Current mood: confused

Today I went down to the cafeteria, and did the usual "Screw this, I ain't gonna wait in line" thing and snatched the Nutrigrain from the vending machine. I passed the main hallway and just sat there for a while. Thankfully, you-know-who didn't show up. I proceeded upstairs to the computer where I am writing this.

It's pretty odd that I got noticed yesterday - I am barely ever spoken to by student peers other than "Hello". I'm starting to wonder why I was noticed. So far, I can only assume she was drunk or I was dressing like so:

(see above for the image)

...

She was most likely drunk.

On the agenda for tonight: I'm gonna try porting hcs's ADX player over to the GameBoy Advance. He's ported it over to Rockbox and PokeParadox is attempting to port it over to the GamePark, so I might as well give porting a shot.

(On another note: The vending machine is busted. I inserted $1.50 (exact change) but it spat out 50 cents afterwards. Odd.)

Lucky, whenever vending machines are busted around here it's the "don't get money or product" kind of busted.

Just another day.

Well, last night I *finally* managed to get Fedora installed on my PC, and I hope to transition over to it from now on. Also, I've installed cockbox on my iPod, so I now have the fancy ability to listen to ADXes and play games on the go. Yay!

No news on recent happenings at school, other than I wrote a little program in Turing recently.

(On another note, I am hard at work cracking the Turing SDK and I should be finished by tomorrow.
BT Tracker and TF by PokeParadox at 5:36 AM EDT on September 23, 2006
Hmmm I've had a poke around, and it seems it's the clustered nature of servage hosting that is preventing Torrent Flux from working. So that is a no g for the DSPs bandwidth problem. The tracker is still up and running though.

I managed to find some rare NSFs - Falsion and Legend of Zelda FDS. You can check through here to find them.
Myspace attack! by unknownfile at 11:56 AM EDT on September 25, 2006
They got me.
Current mood: hunted

It was enevitable.

I went downstairs for lunch, and seeing the line was too long, just nabbed the Nutrigrain, got the 50 cents (even though the thing says $1.50) and went outside. A bunch of wiggas walked by but I paid no attention.

Then I went inside, and all of a sudden:

"It's you! Oh my god!"

If you can figure out what is happening here, these are the girls who attacked me earlier (see A Close Encounter). This time, they were in my path, and there was no easy way out of it this time. So I had to talk.

Them: What's your name?
Me: Peter.

Then one of them comes up to me and hugs me. Judging by how her chest felt I swear she was taking growth hormones.

Her: Do you want to be my boyfriend?
Me: HUH!?!
The others: Let him think!
(A few minutes pass.)
The others: Well? Have you made up your mind?
(Growth Hormone Girl hugs me again.)
Me: I'll... I'll think about it.

Another one of their group shows up... lucky me.

Her: Hi! I'm Sarah! Are you Spanish?
Me: No.
Her: German?
Me: NO.

Apparently the girls can't detect the tones in my speech.

Girls: What languages do you speak?
Me: I don't speak any other languages. (This is a lie - I speak some French and Japanese. Don't ask why I do.)
(Growth Hormone Girl hugs me for what might be the 10th time)
GHG: So, have you made up your mind?
Me: I'LL THINK ABOUT IT.

I pray to God, "What have I done to deserve this? Is it because they like my eyes? Is it because I am a geek? Are they just doing this so that they can fuck me? GET ME OUT OF HERE!"

No sooner than when I prayed that a red-haired boy walked up behind the girls. The girls all jumped onto him ("Hi! <3"), leaving me COMPLETELY UNGARDED. This was the chance I was hoping for, and RAN LIKE HELL away from them. I ran up the stairs, screaming, "HELP ME!!! I'M BEING ATTACKED!" (no exaggeration) and went up to the group of girls I actually liked and told them about this. They said, "Just say you already have a girlfriend!"

I'm a fucking geek. Does it look like I do?

Anyways, now that I've run from them twice, they are most likely going to be demanding answers next time.

I hate Day 2.
by PokeParadox at 1:59 PM EDT on September 25, 2006
I don't get it... it's female attention... I never got that in school or college... (now I'm a bit more fortunate)
What are you doing?
*twacks UF with a plank*

ADX decoder accepted into Rockbox, huzzah. So those who were using my custom builds can pick up the daily CVS, I suppose (I'll still be making my own since I need to disable frequency scaling to get any sort of stability).
Er, probably not in daily CVS until tomorrow.

I've been transitioning over to Fedora, and I've made nice progress so far. All that's left to do is re-install Windows as a virtual machine, and we're set.

Stuff that doesn't work:

- My ATI TV tuner (Windows-only device)
- My scanner (Linux doesn't even detect it)

O.O;; Wow, just...wow.

Dude, if I were you, I'd test the water, see if maybe there's something in it. Those girls would NOT be acting that way without some sort of outside stimulant. Maybe they're high on Mountain Dew; I know my sister (and one of her friends) can get kinda silly on the caffeine stuff.

Windows XP now ceases to exist on my hard drive. I'm re-installing it just in case I need it (ie, for video capture).

Live Svajklubb Proven Effective As A Means Of Defense by unknownfile at 9:43 PM EDT on October 4, 2006
(From myspace)

Alright. I got attacked by a girl again. This time I was actually lucky as this was over the phone. I had to talk for 30 minutes to get myself out of this. I ultimately decided that since I was near a computer that now was the time to bring out my monstrosity of a weapon - a song called Live Svajklubb. After seven minutes I threatened her again, this time I would play the song in its entirety, and sure enough, she hung up.

(Lucky me)

I'm fiddling around with the xcode development kit on Mist under VMWare. Here's what I've done so far:

Hello, world
by unknownfile at 11:17 AM EDT on October 9, 2006
Did some stuff on Star Fox 64 last night. I finally found the text pointer, and as a result, I found some unused text:

//((DWORD*)N64MEM)[0x17DAA8/4]=0x800D8CB8; // Pepper: "Congratulations, Star Fox!" (unused)
//((DWORD*)N64MEM)[0x17DAA8/4]=0x800D8CE8; // Unused text - Pepper inviting Fox
//((DWORD*)N64MEM)[0x17DAA8/4]=0x800D8D18; // Unused text - Fox's refusal to Pepper's offer in the ending
//((DWORD*)N64MEM)[0x17DAA8/4]=0x800D8D48; // Naus: "Preparations for departure complete."
//((DWORD*)N64MEM)[0x17DAA8/4]=0x800D8D70; // Fox: "We'll be off now." (text is unused)

All of this text is *spoken* in the ending, but a majority of it isn't displayed.
by unknownfile at 9:31 AM EDT on October 10, 2006
More Star Fox 64 stuff:

I have been cracking away at the text table, and apparently there aren't enough Roman characters to complete a sentence (capitalized or not), so this most likely calls for intensive graphics hacking.

The text is written in 16-bit unflopped blocks. There are more than 700 characters in all. I have found two control codes, and here they are:

0x0009 - Start of string. Text will not be typed without this.
0x0001 - Equal to \n.

A text table would be too much work considering all of the characters the game uses. It's almost as if the graphics programmer just said, "Eh, let's just stick all of these in."

And I have yet to fulfil hcs's request of changing "Fox" to "Fuckface".
GP2X CubePlayer by PokeParadox at 6:48 PM EDT on October 11, 2006
IT is getting there step by step. I now have a player with volume control and Pause/resume by default though I start paused since playing the song gives a "divide by 0" error somewhere.

It says it's loading the file properly... Well I'll do more checks and such when I have more time, now - sleep :)
T-shirts by unknownfile at 11:53 AM EDT on October 23, 2006
Due to extreme boredom, and my head aching from my computer, I decided to convert my white shirts over to new shirts using a permanent marker.

The first one I made says "Proud to support Live Svajklubb (Mouser_X doesn't, so it's his loss)". The next one I hope to make says, "I became the youngest xSF ripper at 14, and all I got was this crappy T-Shirt."

2. 76 out of 88 people found the following comment useful:-"Now Zoidberg is the popular one!"

Here's some nonsense over on Arlong Park:

HMmmmmm, I jones fairly hard for my next One Piece, but shut the funk up being a spoiled turd about hard work! ASS. Thanks for the effort everyone, if I could translate, I'ld help not whine.

Huh?
by unknownfile at 12:00 PM EST on November 2, 2006
I'm currently swamped with work, but thanks to the power of SLACKING OFF (tm) I am able to get around to doing things that I actually like. On the agenda for this weekend:

- capping Bleach for Rattleman, as always.
- Mac OS X GUI programming in X-Code.
- More Mac OS X stuff, except it relates to audio programming.

What is this all in preparation for? Well, maybe it's for iUSF, a port of everyone's favorite 64th Note to the OS X platform, providing I can compile all this stuff using Wine.

Or perhaps I will just write a DSP decoder port.

Some idiot sent me a private message and I have responded to him. I was bored, and I wanted to test my trolling skills, so I gave it a shot.

To whom it may concern:

Our client (Peter Conway) has been instructed to laugh at your letter loudly. Your letter's text is as followes, which is in turn followed by our client's response.

Thank you.

Hello, and thank you for your stupid private message. It appears to consist of a list, which I shall answer in the same format:

1) I found it absolutely hilarious
2) I don't use msn often, it's the most retarded thing since America
3) Then stop asking for attention
4) Explain to me why you've visited Invader Pichu's site five times today, then >_>

On behalf of my legal representatives, I am pleased to tell you that we are about to be passing an act in the House of Commons. This is like your Congress, only our polititians do not suffer from retardation (mostly) and bribes from the MPAA and RIAA. This act entitles me to go to your house and whip you in the ass a thousand times until there is nothing left but a grain of your hip if you send me any more private messages. This bill is currently pending approval from our Prime Minister, and is most likely to fail as the United Nations (which is actually American) does not entitle us as "King of the World." In which case, the best I can do is add you to my "Ignore" list. Further legal complaints can be sent to my reperasentatives (argh, hate typing that word) who have a website at www.lastmeasure.com. (note: lastmeasure.com is a shock site, do not go there)

Last but not least, I got a good kick out of your message. Please send some more and I might just die laughing.

Thanks for your time.
