A recommendation? by Samuel at 4:54 PM EDT on June 5, 2007
This site is really great and informative, but I think I have a recommendation that may help it...
They're many threads on this forum and sometimes I find myself searching for a topic similar or exact that would answer my question, instead of making a topic that would cause a duplicate. Making a duplicate may make some users here annoyed, because it's already been discussed and concluded.
My recommendation is: Maybe an administrator could create a search bar at the top or bottom of the forums, that way users could type in a specific word that would find topics that contain the answers they were looking for and if they weren't there, they could make a thread knowing it was okay.

That question would be directed at hcs. He coded the forum.

I would also like to make the recommendation that the requests list be cleaned up. It is currently a mess.

Oh how true this is... I'd clean it up, but my time is lacking somewhat... There's also the laziness factor. Lack of time + laziness != useful results. But yes, this is very true. I've never seen it so bad... Maybe I can talk to someone one #usf... Probably not though. Mouser X out.

Josh has been kind enough to implement search.

Cool. How do I get to it without using the link?

Thanks for the search Josh. It is very handy to have that available.

I think that a link to the search feature hasn't been added to the actual forum pages quite yet. Until then we are just stuck with searching the forum for the forum search feature. :P
Searching for search... by Yoshinkeru at 6:31 PM EDT on June 19, 2007
Marioman's right. We need a link on the main page for this search function. I'd been wanting something like this myself, to see where else Tiberious had posted. (I REALLY wish he'd get back to me on the Chaos SoundFont bank...)

You could make a Firefox Search Plugin. Here's a quick one I just whipped up. Just copy and paste the code into Notepad and save the file in your Firefox "searchplugins" folder as HCSsearch.xml

[CODE REMOVED]

Here is a screengrab showing it in the Firefox Search dropdown menu.

Update 2: I made an installer for the Search plugin HERE. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.3 and it installed ok when testing it. Make sure you're using Firefox 2.x.x.x if you want to install it.
