how to rip midi from Wild Arms? by fedex1 at 9:41 AM EST on February 7, 2025
I'm trying ripping them using vgmtoolbox and vgmtrans 1.2, it seems it can extract dls/sf2 files, but the midi output is basically empty. Has someone been able to get the midi from the .psf files?

There used to be a "Technical" folder in the original 2004 release of this rip. For some reason, it's been discarded from the repacked archive hosted on joshw'server. It contained some details about Wild Arms driver inner working and pointed out that, among other things, Seq data are found compressed. Hence why vgmtoolbox fails to extract them.
Thanks for the info. I honestly tried to understand that file, I even asked chatgpt to explain it for me in very simple terms, and now I think I understood 5% of it so it's something. So I can only get the seq files by looking inside the rom with an hex editor (I don't know which one) and then check for pQES.. and then uncompress the seq file with something and then put the uncompressed file in vgmtrans to get the midi (probably). Or maybe is not possible to decompress? A download link with the uncompressed seq would be amazing, but a step-to-step guide on how to do it would be super amazing as well
