wanted: Skies of Arcadia rip by hcs at 3:30 AM EDT on October 7, 2007
If anyone downloaded the Skies of Arcadia rip when I hosted it a few years ago, could you put it up somewhere? I've wanted to hear this again but apparently I don't have it anymore.

I'll check Galbadia and a few other places.

Hope this helps! :)

Right...Galbadia...

I think I downloaded a rip of Skies of Arcadia, but there are only four tracks to it.

Until someone gives you yours (which I hear has the Dark Rift music), I've uploaded my CD's here:

Now they have more than four!

Well, I don't think the DSP files I have are the rips he's referring to.

I hope somebody does have them, though.

i have the dsp files, and will put them up when i get access to my computer again

Right, I don't need the soundtrack (have it), nor the DSPs (not what I'm looking for), rather this:

Skies of Arcadia Gamerips by Lian_Kazairl

which contains:
Armada Battle (Extended Version).mp3
Cave Dungeon (Extended Version).mp3
Hatred (Extended Version).mp3
Horteka (Extended Version).mp3
Legend (Extended Version).mp3
The Dark Rift.mp3

totalling 53.8 MB.

Not to say that it wouldn't be nice to have the DSPs up, I would like to check that out.

Did you ever find those files? I'd still like them, if they ever came to light.

That, and if someone could tell me how those DSF files worked, that'd be great. I can't seem to figure out what I'm supposed to do with the .bin files.

BIN files? Where are you getting your rip? They're available as DSFs from MODland (look here). I've actually tagged them according to the OST (but I haven't timed them), but I haven't uploaded that anywhere. There's quite a few DSFs in the rip that aren't available in the OST. On top of that, the OST loops only once, which sucks.

To play DSFs, you'll need the aoDSF plugin. You can periodically check here for updates, but the newest version (that I can see) is here. I don't know how well aoDSF handles tagging, so I alternated between aoDSF and Highly Theoretical to play and tag the DSFs. While aoDSF has undergone vastly significant improvements since it started, I would still suggest that you check out Highly Theoretical just so you have an idea of the differences between the two plugins (HT sounds closer to what you'd hear in-game in some regards, but it's got some major flaws in others). In general though, you'll almost certainly want to use aoDSF. It's had a few fixes that HT could really use.

HCS: Sorry, no, I haven't seen those anywhere. Too bad too. On the other hand, aoDSF has gotten to the point where it's pretty nice (though, still different from the OST, and in-game play).

Anyway, hopefully someone can find this info useful. Mouser X over and out.

> BIN files? Where are you getting your rip?

He's probably getting them from the source (Kingshriek's site). The BIN files should be easily converted into DSF tracks with the batch script normally included in Kingshriek's packs.

I doubt he got them from Kingshriek's site. If you take a look there you'll notice that the Skies of Arcadia rip isn't available. It wasn't available when I went looking last time either, which is why I linked to MODland.

My best guess is that he's trying to rip the game himself. But you're right, if he did get them from Kingshriek's site (when they were available many months ago), then it should have come with a BAT file to convert to DSF. However, the files in the archive make it fairly apparently how to do the conversion, so I'm not so sure that's where the files he's got came from.

This is why I asked, because I knew the rip wasn't on Kingshriek's site. Even if it were, the documentation makes it very easy to do the conversion. Mouser X over and out.

Looking at my files, it's likely I got them from Kingshreik when he had them mega-uploaded. Though to my knowledge (and according to my folder), there isn't any information on changing the .bin's to .dsflib's.

Thanks for the help, though, Mouser. Helpful as ever.

Skies of Arcadia rip

I finally took the big ol' hard drives out of my desktop, a few of them hadn't been connected for years, for use with an external drive enclosure. Found this in among my large collection of unchecked VGM (only the checked stuff fit anymore on the 200 GB main VGM drive, "Glory", and thus made it to the Toaster). Also found some checked anime soundtracks on "Kingdom" and many gigs of roms on "Power".
