64th note tags not working in Winamp 5.52 by SeanV at 4:18 PM EDT on March 20, 2008
The 64th note plugin works just dandy in Winamp 5.52, except for one thing: the tags!
After scanning my media library to find them, Winamp behaves as though the metadata was not found, and tried to read metadata from the filename(at which it failed horribly.)
When I click "edit selected items" on any .usf file, the tags are either blank or incorrect, depending on whether I enabled the "guess tags" option. However, if I choose "view file info," all the tags are there. Why won't Winamp recognize these tags? It makes sense to me that the 64th note plugin would pass this tagging data to Winamp, but this is obviously not happening. Does anyone have an answer or even a solution?

[EDIT] I had typed up a big thing about how the Media Library was expecting info, and that 64th Note wasn't passing that info. It turns out that I was working from outdated experience. 64th Note 1.2b3 fixed the issues I was talking about. I didn't notice though, because I haven't added any xSF set to the ML in years. I've started using in_zip (DrO's plugin that allows Winamp to play files from within archives), and so I haven't bothered adding files.

If you're using the most recent version of 64th Note (1.2 beta 3 or above), then you shouldn't be having any problems. If you're using an older version, then you'll experience the problems you were talking about.

If you're using 1.2b3, and you're experiencing the problems you mentioned, then there's something worng with your setup. Just to make sure that things were working fine, I added some USF sets to my ML, and they all turned out fine (I was amazed, I assure you. After manually adding 1525 xSFs by hand, it nearly brought tears to my eyes). The only issue I noticed were track numbers. Since USF tags don't (or at least didn't used to. Maybe they do now) support track numbers, when a USF is added to the ML, the track number is derived from the filename. I noticed that some of the Perfect Dark USFs didn't get numbered correctly.

In other words, you're using an old version of 64th Note, aren't you? Use the most recent version. You won't be sorry, I assure you. Mouser X over and out.
