VAB required!! by NodaToyama at 5:38 AM EDT on June 29, 2023
Hello! I've been trying to rip the audio files from Persona 2: Eternal Punishment on PS1, but the track I'm trying to work on (Map II) seemingly just doesn't have a VAB.

Is there anything that can be done about this? I need the VAB to create an SF2 for a project being worked on right now.

It's possible it uses another track's vab file, but I wouldn't know for sure. What I would do, though, is use an emulator that dumps ram contents via save states or whatever and check that.

Well, vgmtrans ended up giving me an error saying

'[VAB (VabRgn)] Low Key (23) is higher than High Key (0) Offset: 0x121240'

So it seems like the VAB is broken somehow? Just to make sure though, how would I go about dumping RAM content like you described?

I haven't done alot of this in a long time, but IIRC certain emulators will do that from simply creating a save state like epsxe. No$PSX might be a better emulator since it has debugging features, but I haven't used it.

Interesting, I'll certainly give it a shot. Thank you!
