- Do they use different "bah" sounds in NSMBDS, NSMB2 and NSMBWii U? Because the ones from NSMB2 and Wii U sound like real voices :P lol I've always wanted to know what library they used that for, anyways great find! It's nice to know nintendo uses kontakt, logic and roland instruments.

- And Korg. Don't forget Korg. I have yet to hear anything from Kontakt being used by Nintendo for the most part, except maybe Mother 3 or AC:New Leaf. Its factory library should have pretty close enough sounds to Kirby's Return to Dream Land instrumnts, though.
NSMBDS has 2 bah sounds, one of them being the same bah from SM64 (the jingle when you enter a course). Off the top of my head I'd say neither are used in NSMBWii, but it's still very possible that they're from Voice Spectral as well, especially considering Kondo's used it in the past. I'll be checking this one to confirm it soon.
I have no idea about the bahs introduced in NSMB2 for the most part, but the ones in the Credits Roll definitely originate from Vocal Planet, which Roland uses for a lot of its keyboards. It's likely they simply took it from their Roland Fantom.
As for NSMBU I'm convinced it's exactly the same as with NSMBWii.

- Ah okay, one more question what are the bah sounds baby yoshi makes in NSMBU? Example and listening to the NSMB2 bah sounds again I have no idea what it is either, nintendo probably used their own sounds.

- Not likely, considering the musicians and budget presumably involved. I'll be looking through Voice Spectral for it, it's probably your best bet.
Unrelated, but Sega uses a fair share of Korg too. Sonic CD uses plenty of M1, Jun Senoue's confirmed he used a Trinity for Sonic Adventure and he's used a lot of Triton since. Other people in Sega like to use it too: Hideki Naganuma's used it a bit (That's Enough being the first example I can think of off the top of my head) and I know Fumie Kumatani used it for the Tropical Resort hub theme. I'll try document this in more depth sometime, along with Nintendo (and by that I mean Mario).

- I would guess the "Yoshi" voice sample is a pitched up Aah-sound and THEN used in for example Kontakt (or EXS24 which is Logic's sampler) and mapped to the keys. Unlike the "BAH" (which is actually just "AAH" but a cut off beginning which it gives it a hard attack) which is directly mapped, raw.
But that's just my guess.
@Can of Nothing Certainly! Here are the steel drums from NSMBWii, NSMBU (it's the same song) and 3D World for example.
If you have a link to the fan songs made by your friend I would love to hear them. Also, which sounds are from Korg Triton in 3D Land/3D World? If you can link any songs.

- @dj4uk6cjm: The baby Yoshi singing sounds similar to the Mizmar samples in the EMU Proteus pack. Speaking of which I also heard the same samples in Flurrie's theme in PM:TTYD... I also heard some other samples that sound at least similar to the Proteus samples in that game.

- I double commented on accident. Please delete. Sorry about that!

- Here's the NSMB fan songs. The New Super Luigi U one in particular sounds pretty authentic instrumentation-wise.
I'll be making a list of Korg stuff soon.
EDIT: Darn, that's definitely gotta be the steel drums. Great find.

- the "bah" sample is the 2nd half of Track 53 of voice spectral.
Looking into it more, ..yeah the JV-2080 is more unlikely.
I noticed that Shogo Sakai has a twitter account. If anyone knows enough japanese, and is nice enough, it can't hurt to ask him what synths he used.

- It didn't seem like he acknowledged that he was musical at all... This could be a different one.
