- Yeah, the CDs would be better actually, to me anyway. Nobody usually believes me on this, but, I can most times tell the difference between a song compressed to 32khz vs one uncompressed at 44khz, or a mid-range quality Mp3s vs one encoded in [lossless] FLAC.
Example: I've heard the Super Mario Galaxy game rip in comparison to the Super Mario Galaxy Original Soundtrack. As was said, Nintendo has the habit of compressing their game's audio to 32khz. The quality of the original soundtrack, especially in lossless, is superior to the game rip, indicating that the original soundtrack isn't just the same compressed audio files thrown onto a CD.
You can also see this with The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Original Sound Track. Audio sounds crisper and has better resonance then the compressed game audio, then again this is just the way I hear it.
So... back to those Rockman/Megaman albums, anyone got any CDs?

- I can usually tell the differences between different khz if given two exact same sources. Why Nintendo does this is unknown.

- I think the reason Nintendo does this is because they don't want the music to interfere too much with the SFX and gameplay by distracting the player into concentrating more on the music than anything else. 32khz sounds good with Pro Logic II though, so it's enough.

I never actually cared enough to give it much thought.

- Sonic Adventure 2 Battle(CD)
Zelda Windwaker(CD)
Zelda Ocarina(CD)
I would like to compare them to their in-game rip versions, especially Sonic Adventure 2 Battle(CD), if you have that in FLAC or other lossless codec.
As for Lego Island, as bxaimc says what format are they in? That used to be a really good game, and I might try and get it again for a laugh.

- I own a bunch of CD soundtracks.

- Wow, how do you spend that much money?
I really want to know if ripping the Lego Island music is possible. Is it some sort of tracker format? Probing around the gamedisc brought no results.

- Lego Island is in 320kbps mp3s....sorry I got rid of the wavs long ago. Yeah I'm not a programmer yet so here's my ripping method (chuckle if you want):
turn on debug mode, fly really high into the sky(3d sound was turned off) and use audacity to record my PC's output (directly-no cables involved)

I've put them on youtube
