@punk7890-2: Ah, interesting! A VST, the Sound Canvas-88 again, and an orchestra-sample-thing...interesting.

If the samples were ripped from the game or that CDVDMAP file, it'd be cool, but one day I should consider getting the stuff the composers use! [s]My songs "The Nightlife" and "You're Under Arrest!" demonstrate how I handle Gigapack samples, anyways.[/s]

Still, thanks; I should've linked to some of the songs on YouTube but it's frustrating looking at my HCS64 thread about the game that only has my posts in it, so I just rushed the question here; It's dumb Graffiti Kingdom chose the SMD/SWD format.

@punk7890-2: Thank you for confirming it's likely to be an SC-88 and other modules.

Is it possible the beginning sound is being modulated, and based off the In da Cave sample? They sound fairly similar.

The entirety of Paper Mario is SC-88 IIRC. I found that out while working on the audio format for the game.

Also, it would be much more appropriate if you edit your post rather then making a ton of essentially the same post.

>However, that sample may have its origin in a previous Roland synth.

This is very true. Lots of the ubiquitous Roland samples you hear in the Sound Canvas series and other modules date back to the S-50 sampler which came out back in the 80s.
