- MSF must die! by unknownfile at 8:08 AM EDT on August 25, 2005
- Well, I have decided that MSF has just been a really big waste of time over the last little while, so I have at last decided that it will be dismantled soon. It currently has no purpose other than to waste hcs' space which he oh so needs for other things.
The site will be dismantled the second Tuesday of September, 2005. Perhaps when I can actually create a format that actually works, and is actually worthwhile working on, I'll try to ressurrect it.
I thank you for your time, if you actually read this entire post.

- Personaly, I think MSF is a good idea. However, there's just no players for it yet (though, as I recall, one is in development). Also, if you could automate the ripping process for those that are M1 compatible, then it would open up a huge amount of possible rips that could, maybe, work with this upcoming player. I say give it some time, perhaps things aren't as bad as you think. Mouser X over and out.

- Well, I have myself decided this "m1-mode" rubbish should be obliterated and that I should rerip the existing sets manually. However, I will be enduring high-school. That, and I'm at the Glasgow airport, awaiting the flight home. Anyways, I might consider moving MSF discussion over to my forums. Have yourself a good day. :D
- Undercover Cops MSFs done! by unknownfile at 12:38 PM EDT on August 27, 2005
- Well, I've finished ripping Undercover Cops (both regions - Japanese and World) but with just one problem:
The entire ROM is the MSFLib, so I can't distribute it.
It's all tagged and stuff, but so far I have not been able to clean out the unneeded data.
NOTES ON THIS MSF RIP:
The "sound test" mode does not play songs for over 4 seconds, and it would be against rules if I did that anyways. I then discovered that by placing a single byte at a certain offset in memory would start playing the music, regardless of the systems status. As such, I made a savestate at the WORK RAM LOW NG screen so that the game would do nothing. However, during this time, the game is still running cycles. The music system's been initialized and stuff, it just hasn't been instructed to do anything. I chose this point, because the game is doing nothing at this point but awaiting reboot and displaying the message. No controller input is being requested for as of that moment, so it seems logical to start the rip from there.
RIP NOTES:
Game uses NEC V33/V30 CPUs for main processing.
Audio system is a dual Yamaha 2151 chip and an IREM GA20.
Music byte for Japanese version resides at 0A0009 on CPU 1.
Music byte for World version resides at 0A004F on CPU 1.
Savestate slot is slot C in MAME.

Need I say more? :P

- xSF Netradio by unknownfile at 12:59 PM EDT on August 28, 2005
- Well, recently in the shower, inspiration came to me. I asked myself, why not host an xSF net radio show? I kept this idea in my head thinking it was just uberstupid, but today, I just thought of it again and thought that it could be a good idea.
So, any oppinions?

- @R. Belmont:
So you're actually working on an M1-based winamp plugin? If you need any help I can offer my minimal winamp expertise... it seems like it'd be easy to plug M1 into something.

- HCS, thank you VERY VERY much for your VGM Bookmarks. I was able to locate the info. I needed to finalize (make sure I had all the tracks, correct track #s, ect.) some albums that have been incomplete on my Hardrive for about 2 years. Thanks you so much!
Since that was such a big help, I'm going to ask you to keep an eye out for the "Super Robot Wars Alpha" OST. No, I'm not asking you to search for it, but I am asking that, if you happen to see it, or anything related to it (that contains track titles, preferably with artist info.) to let me know where to find it. It would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. As always, feel free to ignore this, but any help you can provide would be appreciated. Mouser X over and out.

- Something that might help you is searching for "Super Robot Taisen Alpha", as it is more commonly known, even in English.
By the way, did you intend to post that in this thread?

- You know, I think i accidently posted that in the wrong thread... I really can't say how that happened. Yah, I'm pretty sure I goofed on that one, somehow... Part of what happened is that I was going to post (probably lost track of what thread I was in) and accidently clicked submit, without having written anything. Since I couldn't delete the message, I figured I might as well put it to good use, so I edited it, and put that stuff there. Nonetheless, I still don't know how I got it in here (though I'm pretty sure that's where I posted it to...)
Anyway, thanks for the info. I'll definatly look into it. Mouser X over and out.
