- @G-Boy I know maybe he can put some of the new discoveries of instruments in there.

- Does anybody know where the iconic Kirby "breathy synth" comes from? If my ears aren't deceiving me, it's the same as the synth here, which should date it pretty considerably: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfdUWOsWJss&t=53

- @jasper It's the Fairlight CMI "ARR1" patch

Note that it isn't a straight sample rip. I've noticed that Jun Ishikawa did a fair amount of doctoring to the EQ in the sample he uses. A little more "lead" like rather than "pad" like.

Any idea which audio library used this sample? This was used in the game 999, one of the thestreamtv's opening logo, and a few other games/clips out there.
- Overly Compressed Snare by G-Boy at 4:17 AM EDT on March 26, 2017
- Does anyone know the source of this acoustic snare? It's used frequently in Generation 3 of the Pokémon games. I'm trying to remaster songs from that generation with the Roland ED SC-8820, but I can't find the snare in that synth. It would be very nice if someone could find it, because I can't continue remastering the songs with percussion until I know where the snare comes from.

- Pokémon Update by G-Boy at 7:30 AM EDT on March 26, 2017
- @alexnaveira, I think the waveforms of the instruments in the Roland ED SC-8820 are the same as the instruments in the Roland ED SC-8850. According to Wikipedia, the SC-8820 is an inexpensive, smaller and cut-down version of the SC-8850, so the usual General MIDI instruments (like the trumpet and the strings) should sound the same. 130 sounds were "enhanced" on the SC-8850, but I doubt any of those were used by GAME FREAK.

- Anyone know this loop from the Mario & Luigi RPG 3 Minigame theme?

I know Shimomura had Stylus RMX but god help me I cannot find it in there, and even though she obviously used a Roland for this game I strongly doubt the loop comes from there, especially since to my knowledge Rolands do not have such loops. I think it could actually be something by Zero-G but they have too much stuff so I never bother to check :p
The Bowser Battle theme also has a drum loop:
