- Sam Palmer's Extreme G tags are up.
- Pokemon Stadium by hcs at 10:40 AM EDT on September 21, 2005
- Just to clarify one more time what these two sets I uploaded are:
ps1prelim.zip is from the Japan-only Pocket Monsters Stadium.
ps2prleim.zip is from Pokemon Stadium, released in Japan as Pocket Monsters Stadium 2.
Pokemon Stadium 2, or Pocket Monsters Stadium GS, is very differently structured (and has a whole lot of debug stuff left in), so I was unable to quickly rip it after figuring out these two (which were essentially the same). You'll notice that PS2 includes almost all of the songs from PS1.
The ripping was a bit difficult, as there wasn't a proper song select function. Instead I had to manually read from the table of offsets, then read the next offset and subtract to find the length, then pass that along to the loading function. This was complicated by the fact that the last entry in the list was a valid sequence, but there was no next entry to get the size from, so I just looked for the header of the next chunk of data in the ROM.
The sequences (and a whole lot of other data besides) are stored in a "Yay0" format, which I haven't seen before (though I've seen "Yaz0" with some frequency in Nintendo games).
[edit]
also let me note that even though I've never played a Pokemon game I like a lot of these songs (primarily from Super Smash Bros. Melee)

- And here's the follow up, Pocket Monsters Stadium GS/Pokemon Stadium 2.
Now I don't want to hear about any Pokemon requests for another year or so.

- Duh, I started working on PMS and finished nearly
complete. I'll send it to you, hcs, if its ready,
tought there a few songs I don't know (but maybe
someone else could help me and find them out).
- by hcs at 10:51 AM EDT on September 24, 2005
- Great!
Regarding the unknown songs, it's entirely possible that they were never used in the game.
- by Maxwill at 11:50 AM EDT on September 24, 2005
- Yeah, that could be right.
Edit: Finished now. Sent it to you

- Thanks Maxwill, I'll have those online soon.
Also, two new sets today, the N64 port of the infamous never-reqeusted Daikatana and the oft-requested Shadowgate 64 - Trials of the Four Towers.
Daikatana unfortunately has one track broken, and it isn't the fault of a sloppy rip. With nothing else changed but the song number this song will always crash at 1:15. I haven't encountered it in the game (not that I've played it for more than ten minutes), but my suspicion is that it sounds like it plays during the credits. I'm going to test it out on my V64jr and see if it still crashes on that track, in which case
a) maybe it's incomplete and unused (unlikely) or
b) it has to play at a specific point in the game
and if it works fine I'll know something is wrong with PJ64 (wouldn't be the first time).
[edit]
why do I always write Shadowgate "Shadow Gate" the first time?

- Maxwill's tags for Pokemon Stadium are now up, excellent as usual, though I must say I question his assignment of the genre as "Action"...
